Darkslide820
At last. After one busted PayPal deal and many dollars later, I got a copy of this game. I could have gotten it for $30 when it was still being made, but didn't think it was that good at the time. I've loved the XBox version for 2 years now, but the rosters are so out of date and my old-timers look stupid without portraits and stuff. I have already downloaded the MVP 07, so I guess I'll just jump right into that without installing the normal game. Now if I wanted to start doing my own stuff, like putting in portraits, jerseys, or changing team names and initials, can I do that with the 07 mod, or would that screw things up? kgbaseball
If you do it right, it will all work perfectly fine.
Darkslide820
Would it work if, say, I had one roster that was current (MVP 07), and had one roster that I could screw around with? If I changed the Trenton Thunder into the 1927 Yankees on one roster, would that also change it in MVP 07 and mess up all the updated info? I guess I should also ask if I'll have to do multiple installs of the game. I know that you guys install the game once regular, once for 07, once for 61, etc.
philliesphan18
I think there is a way you can install a switcher so you don't have to install multiple copies on your cpu, but I don't know where I found it (TC site maybe?) because I have a huge hard drive and I didn't need it. Darkslide820
I actually inherited a pretty good computer from my grandfather when he passed away, so I'll just use that one for games. I won't have to worry about saving space 'cause it's got a pretty big hard drive. I'm just happy to finally have a copy of the game and get a chance to see what I've missed out on the last two years. Kraw developed this application. The only issue was that everytime a new season mod came out, he had to update his application. He lost interest in it after the '61 or '67 mod came out, so it will not work with the latest '94 season mod, or MVP07.

I wasn't sure about it, but I thought I saw that utility somewhere.
Darkslide820
Well, now that I've installed the game and got to play it a few times, here's what I'll say about it. 1) Damn, installing MVP 07 took forever. Seeing all the DOS looking boxes started to scare me. 2) The game seems to go much faster than the XBox version. Not in a good way, though. XBox seemed to run smoother, too. 3) It's sick how everyone has portraits now. Cano, Wang, Igawa, Dice-K. Even Barroids. 4) All the legends I wanted to unlock are gone now. Replaced by you guys. 5) Graphics are iffy. Some of the faces look scary, and there are no facial expressions. I saw an argument between the manager and ump where they kinda just bobbed back and forth in front of each other. No talking or getting mad; just plain faces the whole time. 6) Yankee Stadium is sick! All the new ads are in place, and I noticed that the score boards and "count" boards are actually reflective of the game as it goes along. Good job. 7) Classic Yankee Stadium feels cool to play in. I like seeing the monuments in CF, but I'm pretty sure they actually were more in play than they have been put in the game. 8 ) Seeing all the updated stuff like Busch Stadium, up to date portraits for Melky or Maddux, and the new uniforms and logos for Arizona really convince me that this may be the last baseball video game I'll ever have to buy. 9) The controller is a bit of a problem. I followed instructions given on this web site, and after my own tuning in the "MVP Options" --> "Controller" section I cannot intentionally walk or hit someone, cannot move in the batter's box, cannot check pitch history, have to use L1 for the 5th pitch (very annoying), and pause the game when I click the left thumbstick. 10) It seems that the pitch meter is VERY UNFORGIVING. I'm not bad either, as in the XBox version I can pitch on the black with pitcher's down to less than 10% stamina. On the PC version, however, my pitches can go just about anywhere, even if I land on the green. 11) I'm still a little unsettled with the whole MVPEdit thing. No picture is found for players that are clearly in the game (A-Rod, Pujols, etc), even though these portraits come up fine during the game. I created myself in-game, but when I loaded up some database thing in MVPedit later I was not there. I made a few 256 x 256 24-bit BMP's of myself, my friend, and Willie Mays, but I can't find where to put them so my portait will be in the game. 12) Worst of all: THERE'S NO SOUND!!! This makes playing the game so boring, especially since I want to hear the new soundtrack and new name announcements that the modders probably put in. The sound card on the PC is called "Realtek AC97" and I used a driver I downloaded to try and fix it, but nothing changed. It's not the game that's mute; it's the whole PC. Ideas? Help? Overall, I'm still excited to see what I can do with this game, although I'm a little disappointed. If I get a new PC with up-to-date graphics stuff I won't mind as much, considering that the main advantage of having the PC version is to mod all the visual aspects of the game (a picture here, a cyberface there, a new glove there, a background here, etc). Is there anyone out there that has a PC where the game looks flawless? What's your setup?
five
It's either the drivers or the speakers.

So instead of installing 700 mb of stuff, wouldn't you still need to install like 500 mb of stuff? Sorry if I don't understand.
