chipper3344
how can i put in my closing pitcher for the start of the ninth inning. it seems if i sub him in once the 9th starts he doesnt get the save. also if i sometimes sub him in the 8th he sometimes gets the save and other times he gets the win. how can i make succesful saves everytime im in the lead. KerryW
I'm assuming you don't know what a save is.... You'd have to put him in in the 9th inning if your team is leading by 3 runs or less with 0 outs....or when the tying run is at the plate. Edit- Well here's the OFFICIAL MLB explanation of when a save is awarded.. "Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions: (1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and (2) He is not the winning pitcher; and (3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions: (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or ( He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces); or © He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game."
MarlinsFan
3 runs or less needed and you'll get the safe. I have so far 32 saves with Benitez in my 2nd season, which is by june now

chipper3344
ok thanks..but how can i sub him for the top of the ninth? it doesnt work for me..cause i have to wait for my team to take the field to make a pitching change. i dont want my manager to come out to the mound. once im done at bat in the 8th i want my pitcher to take the field with the team. i no it is possible because the cpu does it. jhath
lol why does it matter if the manager comes out or not... you still have your mound visit

chipper3344
because its not realistic. in a real game the closer takes the field with the team in the 9th. if theres a pitcher on the mound and he doesnt throw a single pitch in the ninth it looks dumb. yankees1979
then sub your pitcher when you are at bat. that way its more realistic

pangderx
SAves are confusing. Sometimes I will bring in my closer with a 3 run lead and he won't get the save. Other times the other team might win by 6 runs and their closer would get a save.

Yeh...The 3 Run thing i agree with you...but the 6 run lead I think i know why...Maybe They brought him in the 8th ( Computer is known for 8-9th inn saves ) and the score mite of been 3-2... then in teh next inning .. the PC scores 5 more...and the closers goes back out there....Thats what I think happened. And Griff.... Change that big Sig of yours please....Its for the best of the Forum....No fense to you...
