kevattac
Is that a joke based on me playing with crowds off? I tried, i guess not a very good one. Sorry if that was taken the wrong way, I am enjoying the dynasty so far.

cubsfaninfla
April 10, 2007 Game 8 San Francisco Giants (3-4) vs.San Diego Padres (6-1) Pitching matchup: Noah Lowry (0-0 1.50) vs. Clay Hensley (0-0 1.50) Pads lose game in extras Box Score "SAN DIEGO- The Padres lost only their second game this season in an exciting 13-inning game against the San Francisco Giants. The game was 2-1 in favor of the Giants, when Josh Bard came in to pinch hit for Rob Bowen and blasted a hanging pitch to deep right field for his second homer in as many games. However, an Omar Vizquel sac fly brought in the game winning run for the Giants, as the Pads lost the game." Clubhouse talk: Mike Thompson: "Of course I'm dissapointed at losing the game, but we just gotta go out and play." Players of the game: Josh Bard Omar Vizquel
xiberger
Nice dynasty so far. Keep it up! btw, according to the boxscore, Vizquel drove in the winning run, not Bonds.

cubsfaninfla
Well, since the mailbag hasn't been popular, I might as well answer the lone question before I forget. Are you going to trade for an outfielder to compliment Mike Cameron, and maybe deal the aging Brian Giles? The Padres will probably not make any major deals until late June to the trade deadline, depending on where they are in the standings and where the Pads are at when it comes to injuries. cubsfaninfla
April 11, 2007 Game 9 San Francisco Giants (4-4) vs.San Diego Padres (6-2) Pitching matchup: Matt Morris (1-0 6.75 [1 GS]) vs. Greg Maddux (0-0 0.00 [1 GS]) Pads go to extras again Box Score "SAN DIEGO- The Padres went to extras again, but this time managed to pull out a win as Khalil Greene it a walkoff homer in the bottom of the tenth inning to win it for the Padres. The Padres were down 2-1 in the tenth when Terrmel Sledge hit a leadoff triple off of Armando Benitez. Sledge scored when Mike Cameron hit a sac fly to center field. Trevor Hoffman pitched a scoreless frame in a non-save situation and got the win when Khalil Greene slapped a first-pitch walkoff homerun to the porch in right to win the ballgame. Greg Maddux started the game, and pitched 6 innings, giving up two runs, a walk, and striking out three." Clubhouse talk: Khalil Greene: "We're all pumped out here, and I hope this can get me back on track at the plate." cubsfaninfla
RotoPlanet.com Kevin Kouzmanoff - 3B - Padres An unidentified source within the Padres organization says Kevin Kouzmanoff is on a "short leash" after he made his fourth error in last night's game against the Giants. Hitting .222 doesn't help his cause either. His 4 errors is a league high, and Russell Branyan is coming back soon. We assume that if Kouzmanoff is not starting, he will be sent down to Portland to get at-bats and more practice in the field. Oscar Robles would be the top candidate to be called up if this takes place.
cubsfaninfla
April 13, 2007 Game 10 San Diego Padres (7-2) vs Los Angeles Dodgers (4-5) Pitching matchup: David Wells (0-0 0.00 [1 GS]) vs. Brett Tomko (1-0 2.25 [1 GS]) Wells solid again Box Score "SAN DIEGO- David Wells was simply awesome as he pitched eight innings of shutout baseball while striking out eight LA batters, and only giving up one hit. The only RBI's came on hits from Terrmel Sledge and Adrian Gonzalez. Trevor Hoffman got the save in the ninth inning. Dodgers first baseman Nomar Garciaparra got the lone hit off of Wells. " Clubhouse talk: David Wells: "I think this is the best April in my career so far. I hope it's the best season in my career." cubsfaninfla
RotoPlanet.com April 13, 2007 Russell Branyan - 3B/OF - Padres Russell Branyan will be available for tomorrow's game against the Dodgers after missing 6 games due to an injury. Kevin Kouzmanoff will need to get better offensively and defensively in order to avoid a platoon with Branyan or Branyan taking over third base entirely. For right now, Branyan will see time mostly as the team's top PH against right handed pitchers.
cubsfaninfla
April 14, 2007 Game 11 San Diego Padres (7-2) vs Los Angeles Dodgers (4-5) Pitching matchup: Jake Peavy (2-0 2.51 [2 GS]) vs. Derek Lowe (1-0 3.35 [ GS]) Peavy K's 8 Box Score (Sorry, no caps, forgot to turn Fraps on.) "SAN DIEGO- Jake Peavy turned in another sensational performance, striking out 8 Dodger batters in another 2-0 win. Marcus Giles belted his first homerun of the year, and Jake Peavy picked up an RBI, accounting for the only two runs of the game. Peavy held the Dodgers to only two hits in seven innings. " Clubhouse talk: Bud Black: "This is the way we gotta keep playing. Peavy was awesome out there." Players of the game: Jake Peavy
cubsfaninfla
RotoPlanet.com April 14, 2007 Josh Bard - C - Padres Josh Bard was 1 for 3 batting in the second spot in the lineup for the second day in a row. He is 2 for 6 (.333) out of the 2-hole in his two games there. We think he could end up being an asset out of the #2 spot, but take that with a grain of salt, as Bard is and has always been a very streaky hitter. Russell Branyan - 3B/OF - Padres Russell Branyan saw his first action in 6 games after pinch hitting for Kevin Kouzmanoff in the 9th. Kouzmanoff went 0 for 3, lowering his average to .189, and further increasing the chances of a platoon with Branyan.

cubsfaninfla
I have a question for everyone......should I continue typing up game summaries? I can't think of good things to write a lot, and you can read the summary from the Box Score, so do you guys like them, or should I ditch them? (I'll keep various articles and "RotoPlanet.com" bits though)

The team made 4 errors, including 2 from Khalil Greene, and one from Kevin Kouzmanoff and Russell Branyan. It is only the 3rd loss of the season for the Padres. " Clubhouse talk: Bud Black: "Our defense was certainly not good, and we gotta get working on that." Players of the game: Jeff Kent
cubsfaninfla
RotoPlanet.com April 15, 2007 Kevin Kouzmanoff - 3B - Padres Kevin Kouzmanoff was 0 for 1 and made another error in a 5-4 loss to the Dodgers Russell Branyan also made an error after replacing him later on in the game, but Kouzmanoff should still be worried about losing his job to Branyan. cubsfaninfla
April 16, 2007 Game 13 San Diego Padres (9-3) vs Chicago Cubs (6-6) Pitching matchup: Clay Hensley (0-0 1.39 [2 GS]) vs. Rich Hill (1-0 1.72 [2 GS]) Padres lose to Cubs Box Score "SAN DIEGO- The Padres lost their first out of division game they played, losing 5-3 to the Chicago Cubs. The Pads made 2 errors, and one of them was by scapegoat Kevin Kouzmanoff. Clay Hensley gave up 4 ER, the most by a Padres starter thus far. Cla Meredith also gave up a run. Homering for the Pads were Marcus Giles [2] and Adrian Gonzalez [5]. Rich Hill (Cubs) left the game in the fifth w/ an injury." Clubhouse talk: Kevin Kouzmanoff: "My defense is just plain sh*t. I deserve all the criticism." Players of the game: Derrek Lee

cubsfaninfla
RotoPlanet.com April 17, 2007 Brian Giles - OF - Padres Padres activated OF Brian Giles from the 15-day disabled list. He is penciled in to start tonight's game. Jack Cust- OF - Padres Padres designated OF Jack Cust for assignment Cust didn't see a whole lot of action in his two weeks with the Padres. He figures to pass through waivers and accept an assignment to AAA. The Padres will likely call on him again if another injury strikes.
