Kccitystar
I'm not sure where Home Plate will be, but this stadium is taking shape somewhat as of April 2007: Interesting thing is that they work 7 days a week on this thing
tebjr
I wasn't aware that it was being built that close to Yankee Stadium.
Kccitystar
It is, basically right across the street. The shot where the subway tracks are is where the future Section 39 will be, my home, the Bleachers
Homer
are they just gonna tear down the old one?
Pirate
I hate the Yankess (it's genetic), but they certainly do things right. They are replicating that stadium, keeping it in nearly the same location and turning what is left of the old one into greenspace, much needed green space. It's a grand place for baseball, but the Yankees are finding ways to improve it. Got to give credit where credit is due.
D-Unit
I saw it the other day on the train, and I was taken back. Plus, that's where I'm gonna be playing :D
therock17024
Yep i see that every single day...i take the 4 train to my high school every single day and see the new stadium being built...i live about 8 or 9 blocks away...woohoo!!

Sean O
Maybe we'll all be lucky and the park won't look anything like the plans they've released. I can dream, right?
rows24
Wow its hard to believe they are going to tear down the old yankee stadium. Im a yankee fan but to me its such a unique stadium.
Kccitystar
IMO it costs more for upkeep than to build a new one. I still wish they had the stadium from ASB

GEOLINK
so wait... it's going to be next to "the train"? Wow so I guess i'm be getting used to the random train noises during games. Looks pretty small.
NYM
New York Baseball in 2009 is going to be brand new. New Mets and Yankees stadiums, both incredibly nice. I already got my season tickets for Citi Field and I plan on going to the New Yankee Stadium as well. I noticed on Mets.com they have a live webcam of the stadium (which btw is taking shape very fast). Does anyone know of any webcam for Yankee stadium? superciuc
Meh, i like much more the old Yankees stadium. It's one of the greatest i've ever see.
medric822
I'm not a big fan of tearing down a stadium that had many great moments take place there. Don Larson's World Series Perfect Game, Maris' 61'st homer, Ruth hitting the stadium's first homer, and Lou Gehrig giving his famous farewell speach, as well as the Babe's. Call me a setenmentalist, call me a stubborn because I'm not a fan of change, not on this level, I believe that memories should be placed at a higher value than money. cantslowdown
Are they going to just tear down the old Yankee stadium? That would be sad if they did. I think it's a shame that both NY teams are getting new stadiums. The last Mets game I was attending, the public address announcer said something about "Citi Field" and the crowd booed. A lot of fans are calling "Citi Field", "Shitty Field" instead. I don't want a new stadium and I also don't want to pay $95 dollars for an upper deck seat in 2009. medric822
Well, what are they going to do with it then. It's like having your ex-wife live in your house long after you re-married.
sobehound
I heard the old stadiums being turned into and museum/little league park. So no, they're not tearing it down
