The Big O
The Magic Returns: A 2007 Orioles Dynasty It's about time somebody started one of these! My poor Orioles get no love, so it's up to me to try to bring them back to the playoffs. After modding this game for the past few years, I'm going to take some time and actually play a few. I'll be using Totte's Ultimate Rosters as my base and going from there. Well away we go, and go O's!
The Big O
Orioles acquire Baldelli from Devil Rays BALTIMORE (AP) Just a day away from opening the season the Orioles acquired another bat to put in their lineup, and have already shaken up the bullpen. Baltimore has agreed to send their young closer Chris Ray and touted pitching prospect Hayden Penn to Tampa Bay for outfielder Rocco Baldelli. Orioles officials believe this move will strengthen the offense and defense, and the depth in the bullpen will allow for Ray's departure. Former closer Danys Baez will take over the closing duties from Ray. "This was a move we had to make," Orioles Vice President of Baseball Operations Jim Duquette said. "Rocco is an outstanding defensive outfielder and has enormous potential with his hitting. The injuries are a concern but we intend on playing him in LF and even DHing him from time to time to save wear and tear on his hamstrings." Chris Ray saved 33 games last year and was a crucial part of the bullpen, just about the only member who had a good season in 2006. Hayden Penn has struggled in two stints with the team, but had a good Spring Training performance and is still only 22. "We'll miss Chris and Hayden and we wish them well with their new club, only not against us, " Duquette chuckled. Sam Perlozzo plans on using Baldelli in the number two spot in the lineup between second baseman Brian Roberts and outfielder Nick Markakis. Third baseman Melvin Mora will move down to the 6th spot in the lineup protecting new free agent acquisition, Aubrey Huff. "This lineup is really going to make some noise now," stated Huff. "If you though it was balanced and strong before, watch out." Baldelli will be in uniform for tomorrow's game in Minnesota as the deal should be made official tomorrow morning after Baldelli passes his physical. Ray and Penn are expected to pass their physicals tomorrow as well and should be available for the game against the Yankees in New York.

The Big O
Opening Day Game 1: Orioles at Twins Erik Bedard (0-0) vs. Johan Santana (0-0) Game notes: Rocco Baldelli will make his Orioles debut against the Cy Young winning Santana today in the Metrodome. UTI Freddie Bynum was outrighted to AAA Norfolk and RP Jim Hoey was called up from AA Bowie to provide bullpen depth. Lineup: Now I know some of you might be wondering about why Gibbons and Patterson are in there, but lefties actually hit Santana better than righties so that's why Mora is so low. We'll see how it works out...
NimCross
Great! I am also starting an Orioles Dynasty now that all the updates seem to be out. I'd like to ask a few more questions about your Dynasty if you don't mind. 1. Are you playing on ALLSTAR or PRO? Are you using the default 07 data file or another? Are you playing all games? I look forward to following your dynasty. Go ORIOLES! Nim

The Big O
I am playing on PRO with the default MVP 07 datafile. I'm not really familiar with my HTML nowadays. Does anybody know of a website that I can host my boxscores but still keep the format of the BSE output. It seems the other websites take the format and covert it to other text. The Big O
Edit: reboot needed, somehow my dynasty got screwed up and the standings showed the Os at 163-0. Sigh, I have to face Santana once again.
The Big O
Box Score Recap: Erik Bedard cruised through the first 6 innings only running into trouble in the 7th where he gave up two singles and then a 3-run HR to Rondell White. Basically that was his only mistake of the day as he pitched a complete game striking out 6 and scattering 6 hits while walking 2. The Orioles bats got to Santana in the 3rd when new LFer Rocco Baldelli hit a two run single driving in Melvin Mora and Corey Patterson. The O's would tack on one more against Santana in the 4th and he was done after 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits walking 3 and striking out 3. Baldelli completed his stellar day by hitting a solo shot off of reliever Pat Neshak in the 7th. Game notes: The Orioles have now won 7 straight Opening Day games... Corey Patterson and Melvin Mora executed a double steal in the 3rd inning...
The Big O
Box Score Recap: The Orioles took the season opening series with the Twins today after a 6-4 victory. Starter Daniel Cabrera pitched a quality start and was helped out by the defense, particularly Rocco Baldelli, who continues to shine. Baldelli threw out Mauer at home plate as he tried to score on a single by Morneau in the bottom of the first. The Twins scored first on a solo HR by Luis Castillo and a RBI double by Cuddyer in the third. The O's fought back though with one run in the 4th and in the 5th Nick Markakis put the O's up for good with a 3 run blast. Cabrera was chased by a 2-run HR in the 7th, but the O's bullpen of Jim Hoey, Jamie Walker and Danys Baez shut it down from there only allowing 1 hit. Baez picked up his first save as an Oriole. Quick hits: Baldelli went 3-5 giving him 6 hits in 9 AB with 5 RBI in two games as an Oriole... Jim Hoey called up from AA Bowie before last night's game pitched a perfect 2/3 of an inning in relief of Cabrera.

The Big O
Box Score Recap: This one hurts, literally as the O's drop the rubber game of their opening series with the Twins, 3-0. Nick Markakis was injured with a strained back in the 7th inning and will miss the Yankee series this weekend. The O's looked like they had a hot date because it only took Twins starter Carlos Silva 65 pitches to mow them down only giving up 4 hits and he didn't allow a runner past 1st base. For the Orioles, starter Jaret Wright was effective but gave up two homeruns to Torii Hunter and Justin Morneau. Hunter's solo blast in the 2nd ultimately proved to be the difference as the O's couldn't solve Silva, nor did it look like they were trying. Sam Perlozzo will probably have a few words for his team before the series against the rival Yankees in New York. Quick hits: Jay Payton replaced Markakis in the 7th and will play RF for the Yankee series and until Markakis returns.
