WAY too many home runs, especially Rivera

Hi all... I just got MVP '05 after playing '04 for a few years, mainly to play the MVP '07 mod. I started on Pro difficulty with all the sliders at 0 and while at first I gave up way too many home runs and couldn't hit, I am starting to adjust. Except for the home runs.

When I first started pitching in '05 I gave up probably 4 home runs a game. I've cut that down to a more reasonable level, but I still have problems; one in particular is with Mariano Rivera.

Now, Rivera's pitch ratings are obscene, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I bring him in he gives up at least 1 home run. Today against the Indians I brought him in against the BOTTOM of the order and he gave up 3 home runs. 3!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any tips? It doesn't seem to matter where I throw it - 4-seamers low and away, 2-seamers low and in, cutters up and in or up and away - ALL HIS PITCHES get smacked out regularly. It makes no sense and I'm incredibly frustrated. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks...

I dont think its personal- i always had trouble pitching with him as he only has fastballs and in the game they get rocked. Normally you can mix up speeds and then try and sneak the fastball, but with Rivera, no go. Check a thread for fastball efficiency mod that might be able to make fastballs harder to hit. Failing that, find another closer (sorry, I share the frustration with fastballs in the game).

I've found with some pitchers you have to throw some balls outside the zone. If you only throw strikes the CPU smacks you around.

Yeah i found that out the hard way. I was pitching with Freddy Garcia and I would always get "jacked up" :rocklicker: , so I kinda found out that I had to mix up the way I threw the pitches. Also I did learn that if you pitch the same way to every batter, the CPU acknowledges a pattern in the location and soon or a later you are gonna pay. Try mixing up the location, speed, pitches, usually it works.
