Looks good, however ... doesn't it snow alot in Minnesota? a retractable roof would've been nice
they were talking about thios during the twins game the other night and they said they want to bring outdoor baseball to minnesota and get away from a dome

i agree they should have gotten a retractable roof

well, I can imagine that's anything's better than the dome (never been there myself, but it doesn't look too good on TV and I read some negative stories about it). Let's hope the weather won't be too much of a factor, but we'll see alot of cold fans and ballplayers when October rolls around.

I give them props for leaving the dome. Dome's to me anyway, aren't the way sports should be played. Weather adds unique characteristics to playing all across the nation. I think it adds appeal to play games in sunny florida and then head up Minnesota and freeze your *** off.

After all, it can't get much worse than this past week in Cleveland.

The world is coming to an end. Sean actually likes an upcoming stadium design.

Hah, not even close. I had posted 1 minute earlier how under no circumstances would I ever create this abortion in MVP.

Being from Minneapolis, and a Twins fan since birth, it's fantastic to see this new stadium, but also a sad day.

What you've got to realize about the Metrodome is that it has history, and it really is a great place to watch baseball. Come playoff time, and that place is sold out, it's the most energized place in the Major Leagues. The noise in that place is astronomical. That is why I will miss the dome.

The new renderings look stunning. It's going to be an incredible ballpark and I can't wait to finally watch a MLB game outdoors. And with all this talk about how it's going to be insanely cold: Look at what happened in Cleveland and Chicago this past week. It's not like we have temperatures that are 30 degrees colder than those two cities. And by 2010 (when the stadium will be done), I think MLB will have made the schedules so that teams in cold weather cities start the season on the road.

All in all, it's going to be sad to see the dome go, but I'm so excited for this new park.

I didn't see SeanO posted the same link in his request thread. Oops.

As for the new stadium. I think it's an average ballpark. Nothing special but nothing truly terrible about it. I just wish people would try to be unique when they are going to be building these things

I actually like it. It's not really a ripoff of any other stadium. It's somewhat unique - ie. no brick and steel. It's about time somebody come up with something other than a "retro" park. The roof pays homage to the cookie cutter parks of the 70's. It's got a nice futuristic look to it.

But, here's the problem, inside it still looks like everything HoK has ever done before. What they do reminds me of the scene from the Simpsons where everyone gets excited with Malibu Stacy's new hat. It's still the same park.

We should be seeing (and expecting, as patrons) ballparks that look more like:

and

instead of a 19th Camden Yards. They just don't get it, and unfortunately no one seems to care that we'll have to go through this all in 25 years again. We have wasted one of the nation's best chances for urban renewal and architectural progress, in favor of pointless nostalgia of a time that never really existed.

It's all insanity.
