PC MVP or Xbox?

My xbox just broke and I am not sure if I should just buy a new xbox or if I should get the PC version of MVP 05. This will be my first time using the mods and updating all the line-ups. How is playing MVP on the PC? Can I use a controller like the xbox? If anyone could give me a little input it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Get MVP on PC, because most of the mods here are for PC. And yes, you can use XBOX 360 controller for PC.

you can also use an xbox controller too, but its difficult if you've never done anything like that.

you are almost screwed

Finding a new Xbox will be hard, the xbox 360 does not play MVP 2005

Finding MVP 2005 for the PC is going to be hard, if price is not an issue you could try EBAY

BTW what does your xbox do?

Well, yes, if your computer has the tools for it to work that way. Mine does, but I havent tried it out yet, with all considering.

Works great for me at 1366x768 on my 42" LCD HDTV using the VGA imput. I hex edited the MVP.exe and it is a little stretched but not a big deal. I could never go back to a smaller screen playing games after getting used to this.

Actually, playing MVP on my HDTV looks very similar to watching a real HD game on it!

As someone that played the XBox version for 2 years and finally made the jump to PC, I'll give some input:

1) I think it looks better on XBox, but that may be because I don't have the newest PC or the most RAM.

2) Controller-wise, again I'd have to go with XBox. I've tried a few ways to get the XB360 controller working with the PC, and I can never get it to work just the way it did on XBox. This is annoying when you have to use L1 for Pitch#5 and clicking the left thumbstick pauses the game. I also can't check pitch history or move around in the box.

3) Price - this is a push right now. XBox games are usually $50 (or they used to), and on Amazon.com right now there is a copy of MVP PC going for $48. Consider yourself lucky; the game was still ~$80 a month ago, but it seems to be on a downward trend lately.

4) The freedom you have with the PC version is unparalled. Make a character in XBox, he has a basic, bland portrait; make one in PC, you can put whatever picture or cyberface you want. Want to rename a team, go ahead, so long as you have the PC version. Wanna play in Ebbets Field or Classic Yankee Stadium? PC version. Want updated rosters? PC version. You can have more than 4 rosters (the XBox limit) because you can have as many installs of the game as you want, each with its own starting rosters.

5) It's a little annoying to stay on top of all the programs you need to do some of these things, but once you have the programs you're set.

My opinion: Get the PC version while it's still cheap.

Is it worth buying a HDTV? I mean, do I have to get HD cable in order to see things look great?

IMHO, YESSS. I use mine for the computer, HDTV w/DirectTV, XBox 360, and 360 HD-DVD.

I use the HDMI imput with DirectTV HD-DVR box, the VGA imput with the computer and also with the 360 HD-DVD player which also upconverts standard definition DVDs beautifully. For gaming on the 360 I use the component imputs as games look much better on it than the VGA imput. I understand there is a solid fix coming for that in the 360 Spring update.

I found the 42" to be just the right size if you sit very close(within 5 feet) with the max res of my TV at 1366x768. A Full HD set (1920x1080), you might be able to get a little bigger at the same distance, as the pixels will be smaller.

Dude all you need is a video card that has two outputs. I have a ATI Radeon X1600 Pro / 512MB DDR2 / PCI Express / DVI / VGA / TV Out / Crossfire Ready and a Dell 32 hd tv and the game looks awesome on my tv. If your tv has a vga input it will adjust itself. In my opinion and I am an big baseball fan I'd go for it. The pc version is definately worth it
