Alvan9
I can get very few things to work with vista. The things that do work are like the overlays, vector circle, 07 patch. MVPSavreader cant find certain files... Box Score Extractor won't bring up the files in a 2007 folder. Yes I am in 2007, and after I run the extractor, the games don't show up in any folder on my comp Installer thingy. Can't find bckgnds folder, so I create one, and it gives me an error. I can't add music to intro themes or in between innings. The list goes on and on. Everything worked fine on my old computer (XP) and now all of a sudden, I bought a new computer with VISTA (Not my choice) and half the things I had on my old comp dont work. What am I doing wrong. Its like its impossible to extract files using winzip or winrar. Anybody have any ideas?
Alvan9
Also, everytime I go from my MVP game back to my desktop, my screen goes blank and the monitor says "out of range". So I have to turn off my monitor then turn it back on. I use a dual monitor set up, and I am very disappointed in this whole thing. Why I just can't get XP anymore is beyond me. I hate Microsofts... conception
I haven't yet heard one reason why I should get Vista. Luckily, I got an Xp machine a month before Vista launched, with the option of loading Vista on it for free once it was released. I don't think I'm going to. Alvan9
dell said I couldn't get XP anymore. Told them I didnt want Vista. I also heard that I could just reformat my hardrive and remove vista and add XP, but found out that the geniuses over at microsoft make sure you can't do that. You will lose audio, video, and your modem if you do. Un f'n real.
tywiggins
Box Score Extractor works fine in Vista. I also just tested MVPSavReader in Vista and it works. You need to change the setup directories after you install it. (Control+S) Example: change c:Program FilesMVPSavReader to c:Program Files (x86)MVPSavReader By the way, I have both XP, and Vista on my computer. I use XP almost all of the time. Madden and MVP Baseball both play much smoother in XP than in Vista for me. As for installing XP and losing audio, video, and your modem. All you need to do is install the correct drivers, and they will work. (XP might automatically install some or all of them when you install. It depends on your hardware)
Alvan9
I will give the savreader a try, but what about the extractor. I am doing everything normal, but I can't get it to show up. I do a search for the files and they are not on my comp. I search for the year, the team I am and my opp and nothing comes up. I know with XP I would run either the express extractor or the other one and both would show a 2007 folder. Not the case here.

Are you manually starting it, or are you using a shortcut key to start it? Also if you renamed your mvp2005.exe to something else, change it back to mvp2005.exe

I appreciate your help on this.
Alvan9
The savreader is not that important to me cause I can run that from my XP laptop. But the box scores is what I really want.

Alvan9
Ok this is very weird... I was changing my local output directories like you said. Was going to add the images folder that is stored in my MVP folder, and I came across (in the browse for folder section) the box scores for the 2007 folder and a BOS (My team) and TEX and KC folder and also a 2005 folder. All the folders I was looking for. But when I go to My Computer and the go to the drive, they are not there Whats the deal?
tywiggins
Also, you need to either play, manage, or sim a game. (Quick-sim doesn't count). If you don't then the files don't get created.
Alvan9
right, i knew that. Like I said I've had no problem in the past. Just when I got my new comp.
Alvan9
If I label the game an Exhibition game it works. Instead of choosing my team or choosing the opp, I just choose "x" for exhibition, and it adds the folder and the game log. By the way I love the way it looks. tywiggins
For these errors... do you have UAC turned on? Are you giving savreader administrator privileges if so? UAC is so annoying. I have it turned it off. (UAC = User Account Control)
jhoff80
Oh, I thought maybe that that might be preventing the system from registering the file or whatever, but if you have it off and its still saying that, its obviously not that. UAC is the annoying as hell Accept/Confirm messages you get whenever you try and do practically anything on your Vista computer. Its something that's good for say my parents on their new laptop, who don't know what they're doing, but its completely unnecessary for someone who knows what they're doing. Alvan9
where can I go to turn it off?
jhoff80
Well apparently it won't help your problem, but go to control panel>user accounts>turn user account control on or off.
Alvan9
I was able to get box score extractor working, but I have to minimize the game and open up the directory and change it. For some reason I was unable to look at my 2007 folder while in my MVP folder. But I could find it when I open up certain programs that allows me to browse for a folder. Weird.
