A new direction for the game...

I was wondering, if anyone had kicked around the idea of changing all 4 levels of the farm systems in MVP, "down a notch?"

Here is what I mean.

Instead of having A, AA, AAA, and MLB... You could make an edition of something like this:

MVPfarm: The Road to the Show.

Low-A, A, AA, AAA. (Changing A to Low-A, or maybe even college, etc - changing AA to A, changing AAA to AA, and changing MLB to AAA). It might require some modding to lower the ages, and I don't know if alterations to the datafiles could be made where, instead of "age" making a person "retire" - once their skill hits a certain point - they "retire" - meaning they were called up to MLB, and thus out of your farm system (which you are in charge of).

This could be a whole new take on MVP - you have to learn to have a self-renewing talent base, or pick winners out of the minor league castoff FA's... cuz once they get really "good" - they're gone - up to the majors.

Does this interest anyone?

Is it even REMOTELY possible?

Dagger147 had this idea last fall, and we started it, but I only managed to get a couple teams' rosters done before I had to get back to MLB related things. It would be a nice idea to do in the offseason since all the rosters are set in stone for awhile, but there's just so many other parts of the game that would need to be added, and we didn't get much interest then.

It has been talked about before, I think the problem was most people do not play the minor league games anyway

I know. I'm actually one of them (the ones who don't play the minor levels). I kind of figured those people (myself included) would treat AAA like your "major league" - since it's the highest level you have control over, before the "big bosses" at the MLB level steal your players. :)

But I respect your assesment that the level of interest in such a mod might not justify the amount of work required to make one.

Thanks for the responses.

this sounds like a really good idea. we would just get the schedules from the teams sites.

I think Kraw meant the scheduling systems for the minors differ from those of the majors - meaning it would be hard to have a realistic AAA schedule, since it'd be using the hard-coded requirements from MLB ball. You might have to succumb to non-realism in the structure of the schedule to make it all work.
