chakfu
So I tried copying the original initstaz.big to /data; the game crashes on startup. I tried importing the initstay.big into the mvp07 initstaz.big; the game crashes on startup. For some reason biggui and dolffin won't let me export the fglv.fsh to edit it. How can I fix this, so I don't have to look at the stupid blue glove anymore? The gloves are a caes of if it aint' broke don't fix it - you can barely see the gloves in the game in the first place, why bother replacing them with big detailed ones? And now everything just looks silly with the blue gloves since the game can't display the updated gloves properly...
Kelvarr
I believe the blue glove is a symptom of the First Baseman's Mitt that is installed, not the updated, detailed gloves.
chakfu
Yeah I guess you're right - it's because there are 6 default gloves, and the mod added a 7th first baseman's glove - except the 7th first baseman's glove doesn't have a corresponding, low resolutoin image for the PIP. Still irresponsible to patch something that was perfectly good - was anyone crying out for an extra 1B glove? The first basemen's glove looked perfectly fine before. But now we have to live with this ridiculous blue glove staring at us anytime someone's on 1B. So anyway, how do I remove the extra first baseman's glove then? The whole game crashes if I try to restore the old files.
compmaniac
Use gfxpak or fifaFS to unpack. The reason why BigGUI won't unpack is because the files in there are in the format models/textures/etc., so BigGUI treats them like folder names, so it screws up. If you still want to use BigGUI, make sure you create those folders before having it export.
raindelay7
....Still irresponsible to patch something that was perfectly good - was anyone crying out for an extra 1B glove? The first basemen's glove looked perfectly fine before.... Perfectly good!? Firstbasemen wear mitts, not gloves (like a mitten not a fingered glove). I understand your frustration, but i think for most of us the blue PIP etc. is a small price to pay to have a firstbaseman's mitt in game. Also, didn't someone mention a few months ago that they had fixed the blue PIP problem?
chakfu
Really? Gloves on the fielders are just little blobs for the most part, I don't think I ever looked in any detail at the 1B mitt. A small glove that is a vaguely inappropriate shape is a lot better than some bizarre bright color in your face. I'll try fifaFS and gfxpak...but how can I remove the extra 1B glove? Won't the game just look for the extra glove and now find it missing? What in the patch tells the game to look for glove #7 for a first baseman? That's what I need to fix. I couldn't find any answer searching the forums, just a bunch of brief posts that were ignored or misinterpreted.

The glove #7 is specified in the .dat files, and I think that would take a long time to replace. I'm not exactly sure of the .dat files format myself, but I know you would have to replace all the 7's with other numbers. I don't know how to automate that. I guess you can speak to tywiggins about that.

My thoughts exactly; if you're crying about a blue glove in the PIP, you should've backed up your files before installing the glove mod. To fix it, take the roster and global edit all first basemen to have any other glove in slot 1-6.
rickel2
just have a dynasty with the dodgers or the royals and the blue glove won't matter... as much.
raindelay7
Probably the easiest solution for getting rid of the modded 1b mitt at this point, is to just run a global edit in MVPedit: Click on global edit and then... 1) select "1B" as the Value in the Filter section and click the "Add" button. 2) then select "Field Glove Color" after Field in the Modify section. 3) then select a glove other than the modded 1B mitt in the Value window of the modify section. 4) click run All firstbasemen will have the same glove, but you will no longer have to deal with the blue PIP. hope that helps. chakfu
I did backup my files before I installed MVP 07. When I replace the files, the game crashes. I'm trying to figure out how to use the files I MVPedit doesn't even have a value for the modded 1B mitt, the only choices are light brown, brown, black, blue, red. It's not clear at all to me how the game decides to give the 1B the new mitt or how to fix it. I could swear I saw something about it in the threads about how to best install mvp07...but I can't find it now.
kgbaseball
You have to edit the config file for MVPEdit for it to show the 1b mitt. Just open it up and add it for slot #7. Or, just select all 1b and give them any glove color you want; that way you don't have to deal with the 1b glove at all.
chakfu
I understand now. I managed to use raindelay's util to unpack and repack the fglv files, that worked pretty well, but the players assigned glove 7 just had red and green blank gloves (that turn blue in the pip as well.) I'm too far into my season to start over, what I need to do is edit the glove color of the other team's 1B before I start a series against them. The high res gloves do look nicer on the zoomed in replays and cutscenes; but I really think that blue glove in the PIP is a high price to pay for it, and not worth it at all. Kind of like the Jacobs field I just downloaded with "photorealistic" scoreboards that obliterate the working jumbotron. I have to go back to my old fix for that one too... compmaniac
Then global edit the players to not have glove #7.
