Pokeys Posted April 23, 2007 Author Share Posted April 23, 2007 Game 1 of 2: Texas Rangers(14-7) Vs Cleveland Indians(10-11) Tex Leads The Way, Rangers Win Big Left: Mark Teixeira's first inning Solo Home Run | Right: Kevin Millwood throwing a strike, striking out Casey Blake Game Wrap: Sabathia pitched well but the Rangers batters were able to hit his wicked slider and fastball all game long. Texeira went deep 2 times and picked up 6 RBI's, hes on absolute tear during april. Kevin Millwood 7 Innings of solid ball, forcing alot of ground outs and even striking out a few. The Rangers snap their 2 game losing streak and will look to sweep the series tommorow... Rangers Notes: - Nelson Cruz hit his first Home Run of the season. - Mark Teixeira has homered in 3 Straight games, and is on a 6 game hitting streak. Pokeys Posted April 23, 2007 Author Share Posted April 23, 2007 Game 2 of 2: Texas Rangers(15-7) Vs Cleveland Indians(10-12) Blalock, Tex Continue To Dominate Left: Mark Teixeira's completing the Double Play | Right: A ticked off Eric Wedge Game Wrap: Texas got on the scoreboard in the first on an RBI Sac Fly by Teixeira, they would add another run in the 3rd to go up 2-0. Blalock hit a 2 Run Home Run in the 5th. The Indians were getting runners on base but were unable to cash them in, that is, until the bottom of the 5th. Hector Luna continued his dominance with a leadoff Home Run, Cleveland then loaded up the bases with none out and Victor Martinez at the plate, he hit a line drive right into 1st Baseman Mark Teixeiras glove turning a double play, a rather flukey play. The next Batter hafner got on base and score a couple on a single, Casey Blake hit a double but Hafner got greedy and tried to score on the play but was thrown out. And that was basically the big turning point of the game as Texas would run away with the game after that. Bases loaded with one out and Hank Blalock hit a double scoring all 3 baserunners, Tex brought in Blalock to make it 8-3. Nixon hit a 3 Run 2 out Home Run in the 9th off Gagne however that wasnt enough. Texas sweeps the Indians and improves their record to 15-7... Rangers Notes: - Sammy Sosa went 0 for 5 and struckout once. - Mark Teixeira extended his hitting streak to 7 games. Ryan Striking out Jason Lane for the final out Game Wrap: Volquez who was 3-0 on the season had a very rough outing as the Jays got to him in the first where he gave up 7 Hits but somehow only gave up 2 Runs. However the Rangers would to tie it up with a run in each of the first two innings. Skip ahead to the 4th where the Jays loaded up the bases and Vernon Wells hit a Grand Slam to make it 6-2 the Rangers would slowly cut that lead down and come within one run in the top of the 6th but the Jays would string together a few more runs to make it 10-6. In the 9th the Rangers would score 2 on an RBI Single by Teixeira, and score another one on an RBI Double by Sosa to make it 10-8 but they would fall short as the very next batter Jason Lane struckout. Jays take the series opener... Rangers Notes: - Catcher Chris Stewart went 0 for 4 at the plate in a rare start. - Mark Teixeira extended his hitting streak to 8 games. Player Of The Game: OF Vernon Wells 3 for 5, 2B, HR, 4 RBI's, Grand Slam --------------------------------------------------- Weird game, Zambrano didnt pitch to bad for the Jays actually. Pokeys Posted April 24, 2007 Author Share Posted April 24, 2007 Game 2 of 4: Texas Rangers(16- Vs Toronto Blue Jays(9-16) Chen Gets The Job Done, Rangers Win Left: Gagne coming into the Game | Right: Gagne Striking out Lyle Overbay in the bottom of the 9th Game Wrap: The Rangers didnt get a hit until the 3rd where Jason Lane hit a triple to get things going, Guzman brought him in with a Single, Kinsler hit a 2 out triple to score Guzman and Tex hit a Double to cap off the 3 Run inning. Chacin would cool down from there as he pitched his way into the 8th without giving up another run. With Limited run support Bruce Chen turned in his best start of the season as he forced pop fly after pop fly all game long only giving up 1 Run on 7 Hits, the run was scored in the 7th on a Solo Home Run from Lyle Overbay but Chen would bounce back and get the next 2 Batters out in the inning. Still in the game in the 8th he made quick work of the Jays batters and retired the side. Out went Chen and in came struggling Closer Eric Gagne for the 9th. First pitch was blasted into left by Frank Thomas to get a leadoff single, Things didnt look good right off the bat. But Gagne would re-focus and forced Troy Glaus to hit a short fly ball. Gagne brought the heat to the next batter Lyle Overbay and struck him out with 3 pitches. Final Batter for the Jays Adam Lind swung at everything he seen like the rookie he is and struck out to finish the game. Rangers take the game by a score of 3-1 with Eric Gagne turning in his best performace of the season. Burnett will be on the mound for the Jays tommorow... Rangers Notes: - Rangers had two suprising and rare pitching performance in this game. - Mark Teixeira extended his hitting streak to 9 games. Yeah its for real and I know thats nuts lol, Im really good with him cause of his tall stance plus hes an awesome switch hitter so that helps im sure he'll get into a mini slump at some point. The Jays would add more runs down the stretch and give Cy Young winner Roy Halladay some great run support as he pitched a scoreless first 5 Innings and pitched into the 8th where the Rangers would get a couple of Runs. Toronto would rock the Rangers bullpen in the 9th some more to add some insurance, Blue Jays win 12-3. Rangers Notes: - Freddy Guzman went 3 for 3 at the plate and had 2 Stolen Bases. - Mark Teixeira extended had his 9 game hitting streak snapped. The Rangers would get on the scoreboard in the 3rd when Michael Young hit a 2 out double and Blalock brought him in on a single to cut the lead in half. Down 3-1 in the 7th The Rangers bottom of the lineup would string together some runs. With Lane hitting an RBI double and Arias scoring him on a 2 out Single to tie the game 3-3. Toronto would take the lead again in the 8th to go up 5-3 and pretty much put the game out of reach. Ian Kinsler would come into the game and get a 2 out pinch hit Solo HR off of closer B.J. Ryan, however the very next batter Kenny Lofton would cap off his 0 for 5 night with a ground to the 3rd Baseman. The Blue Jays take 3 of 4 games and win the series... Wang would settle down quite well for a bit after that. Yankees took the lead in the 4th Inning on a 2 RBI Double by Giambi and an RBI Single by Matsui. However that lead was short lasted as the Rangers Mark Teixeira hit a leadoff solo HR in the bottom of the 4th, then they loaded the bases and Laird brought home all 3 runners on a deep Single. The Yanks would have a huge 5th where A-Rod hit a solo and Matsui hit a 2 Run homer to make the game 6-5, Texas would then tie it in the next inning on a sac fly by Kenny Lofton. Tied 8-8 going into the 9th the Yankees would put together a huge Inning scoring on an RBI Double from A-Rod and an RBI Single by Giambi to make it 10-8. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th Sosa would hit a single to keep the Rangers hopes alive but Catalanatto would fly out... The Yankees wouldnt score until the 3rd Inning where Johnny Damon hit a solo Home Run on an 0-2 count. The Yanks would get another Solo HR in the next inning from Giambi to make it 3-2. By then Mussina had settled down quite nicely recorded alot of outs on pop flys. Game was tied 3-3 heading into the 8th where Derek Jeter would hit his 2nd Home Run off of Volquez and that would be the end of his night as littleton came in and got the Rangers out of the 8th. Bottom of the 9th the Rangers would get back to back singles, None out 2 men on Sosa at the plate he flys out, Catalanatto Flys Out, and Michael Young hit into a fielders choice. The Rangers drop their 4th straight game, while the Mariano Rivera picks up his 9th save and the Yankees improve to 18-9. Yankees Notes: - Jeter hit his 5th and 6th Home Runs of the season. - Jorge Posada is 0 for 9 at the plate striking out 3 times in the series. Rangers Notes: - Edinson Volquez has lost in back to back starts. - Mark Teixeira got hurt in the 6th when he was making a play. He will be out for 10 Days with a dislocated finger.
