Pokeys Posted April 28, 2007 Author Share Posted April 28, 2007 Game 3 of 4: Los Angeles Angels(16-23) Vs Texas Rangers(23-15) Volquez Conquers The Angels Left: Volquez striking out Chone Figgins looking | Right: Happy Oh So Happy Rangers Game Wrap: The Rangers took an early lead scoring on a Michael Young single. The Angels wouldnt get to Volquez till the 3rd where Orlando Cabrera hit a solo HR, the Rangers would take another lead in the bottom of the 3rd where Lofton hit a triple and Blalock scored him with a single to make it 2-1. But the Angels would quick tie it up again in the 4th as Willits got on base with a single then stole second base and Kenderick brought him home on a single. The score was tied 2-2 with both pitchers still in the game and pitching well until the 6th where the Rangers sluggers would strike as Blalock got on base with a seeing eye single and Teixeira blasted a bomb to right to go up 4-2. Skip ahead to the 8th where Volquez was still in the game and pitching well, he struck out the first two batters but the very next one Vladimir Guerrero took him yard to cut the lead to 4-3, Volquez would strike the last batter out and get out of the side. Up 4-3 the Rangers would add some insurance as Blalock went yard to make it 5-3. In came Gagne for the top of the 9th and he made quick work of the Angels batters forcing Willits and Hillenbrand to ground out then getting Kendrick to fly out. The Rangers win 5-3 and will go for the sweep tommorow... Angels Notes: - Ervin Santana is now 0-4 on the season. - Orlando Cabrera has homered in each game of the series. Rangers Notes: - Mark Teixeira hit his first Home Run since returning from injury. - Gagne has recorded 3 straight saves. - Kenny Lofton is 8 for 13 with 2 Triples, 2 Doubles, Home Run and 2 RBI's in the series. Player Of The Game: SP Edinson Volquez 8.0 IP, 7 H, 7 K's, 1 BB, 3 ER, --------------------------------------------------- Anybody else have trouble with Orlando Cabrera? Pokeys Posted April 28, 2007 Author Share Posted April 28, 2007 Game 4 of 4: Los Angeles Angels(16-24) Vs Texas Rangers(24-15) Rangers Sweep LA, Blalock & Weaver Hurt Left: Eric Gagne Striking out Matthews Jr in the 9th | Right: Morales, Matthews Jr left scratching their heads Game Wrap: Bad news right from the start for the Angels as Jered Weaver was hurt in the bottom of the 1st Inning and had to leave the game. The Rangers would get to Darren Oliver in the 3rd when Michael Young blasted one out just over the fences in right to make it 1-0. That lead didnt last long as the Angels would have a huge 4th Inning, Hillenbrand would hit an RBI Double, followed by a Howie Kendrick Home Run to make it 3-1. The Rangers would respond quickly as Kinsler hit a 2 run home run in the same inning to tie it up. Michael Young hit an RBI double in the 5th to put the Rangers up 4-3 Texas would get another run in the 7th to make it 5-3. Kameron Loe still pitching in the 8th got all 3 Angels batters to fly out. Gagne made another appearance and closed out the bottom of the 9th 3 up 3 down. The Rangers Sweep the Angels and start to pull ahead of the AL West. Angels Notes: - Jered Weaver will be out 1 week with minor wrist tendinitis. - Orlando Cabrera went hitless in the game. Rangers Notes: - Michael Young was a triple away from hitting for the cycle - Gagne has recorded 4 straight saves. - Kenny Lofton went 10 for 17 with 2 Triples, 4 Doubles, Home Run and 2 RBI's in the series. - Hank Blalock dislocated his finger in the 9th Inning, and will be out for 1 week. E: Lofton (3), Young (3) Player Of The Game: SS Michael Young 4 for 4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI's --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- I guess im going to go with Arias or Young at 3B maybe even Kinsler, not sure. The Rangers had the bases loaded with 2 outs and Teixeira at the plate but he would ground out. Tampa Bay takes the first of 3 and snaps the Rangers 5 game winning streak... Devil Rays Notes: - Iwamura hit his 1st home run in the bigs. - Every D-Rays player had a hit. E: Cantu (4) Rangers Notes: - Mark Teixeira is 0 for 8 in his last 2 games.
