MarlinsMS_35
Well, yesterday we had our first meet for school, and I ran the mile. In the first lap I was staying towards the mid-back, and there was the one gangster looking kid who had like a 20 second lead, and I was looking at him, and I was thinking to myself "He's going to die out soon" but he never did. He slowed down eventually, but It was just crazy. I was striding on the straightaways, and jogging the turns. For the 2nd and 3rd lap I was just holding my pace, and slowly gaining positions. On the last lap I was striding the whole way, and when i crossed the line between the 3rd and 4th lap our track coach was like "you have on more guy to pass before you get into points" and so I was just determined to pass him, and I did right before the last 200m, and the gangster kid was like about to finish. I went all out on the last 100m, and got 2nd with a time of 6:05 Gangster man got a 5:49 Our coach wants me to get down to a 5:30-5:45 by the end of the season. Keep in mind, I'm only
compmaniac
I just don't understand how some people can have the endurance to run a mile quickly. I can sprint fairly quickly, but when I run the mile, I'm horrible. If I actually try, the fastest I can get to is like about 7:40. However, I don't exercise often. If I ran a mile every day, would I get it down by a lot?
kgbaseball
Easily. You could probably trim 30 seconds in a couple weeks.
Tigers94
That's really fast, I am 12 and suck at the mile because I am more of a short distance runner(That's how i was trained for soccer) and my lowest mile time was about 7:

Keep in mind, I'm only 13 That is great for 13! Keep it up. I ran the mile, two mile, 800 and 4x800 in high school and junior high. The best I ever ran was a 4:44 mile. The other day I ran in the Pat Tillman run (4.2 miles) and opened with a 5:32 mile. That is the fastest I have run since high school 10 years ago. I also ran a 1:58 half in high school. You are way ahead of where I was at 13, but the hard work pays off. Keep at it man. The best thing you can do is eat right, do your weight training and never let up on yourself. Always work your hardest, even when it hurts. Keep us abreast of how things go. I love hearing about people running.
compmaniac
Easily. You could probably trim 30 seconds in a couple weeks. Would running one mile a day be good enough? I know somebody who runs 4 miles a day at our school, but I don't know how fast he runs.
kgbaseball
One mile a day would work wonders for you if you're only looking to get in shape. If you're trying to build up endurance, you'll obviously have to run more than that. There's all different types of running programs for all types of runners. Just find one that suits you the best, and off you go.
JoeyMcM93
I'm 14 and can run an average of about 6:20. I have gotten it down to 5:55, but I don't think it was actually a mile. It was on a different course and didn't feel near as long.
ronmexico
20 laps on the school track is supposedly 1 mile, and I ran that in about 6:05, but I'm 17, so I have an advantage on MS on that one Good job on running in that time.
medric822
I never did this, even though its required to pass. But since I played sports, I got A's.

I love hearing about people running. Next year in high school I'll probably do baseball instead of track since they run simultaneously. At the high school I'm going to, we take baseball so seriously it's not even funny. And it's a magnet school too, so they can recruit players, but I'm zoned to go to the school. However that doesn't mean I'm going to quit running in the future. But I think I have a better future in baseball than track. And baseball was my first love. But I'm just pointing out next year, this year, I'm still in full track mood.
