tribefanisu2003
Ok, I apologize if this gets kind of long, but it will need to be that way so that it hopefully justifies a new post. I did plenty of searching beforehand... Anyway, a little background info: I played 4 1/2 seasons on MVP 2005 for the PS2. Obviously, I love the game. Usually got pretty realistic stats and such, playing on All-Star for the first 2 years (no sliders), then on MVP (no sliders) for the rest. No hot/cold zones was about the only other alteration to gameplay. I guess I'm wondering if there is anyone that is about at the same playing level as me and needs that level in between all-star and mvp, and if so, have you found any good settings? I absolutely love this game, but I don't love being 31-8 right now, all but 2 of my wins being on all-star and all of my losses being on MVP, mostly on late-inning CPU comebacks (aka Jeter pulling a low-outside slider for a grand slam when I was up 3 with 2 outs in the ninth). As for a quick summary of sliders, I started with Hoops' all-star sliders, and they're now at the point where I've made the pitch meter difficulty a little harder, user power -20, user contact 0 (default), cpu power +10, cpu contact +10. When I was playing on MVP, it was something like user power +10, user contact +10, cpu power -10, cpu contact -5. Again, I led a lot of the games in MVP, and the cpu ALWAYS came back late, unbelievably so. I know I've seen a lot of threads about sliders, and the common answer is 'they're different for everyone", and I understand that. But, in a case where there's such extremes between win/loss on these two levels (29-0 on all-star with some cpu favored sliders, 2-8 on MVP with some user favored sliders), I guess my current plan of action is to keep tweaking the sliders on All-Star, because when the cpu does come back some on me on all-star, it's in a much more believable manner. I just kind of wish I'd lose a game or two here and there on All-Star. The only stat that isn't realistic is the amount of home runs I hit... the rest, pitching and hitting, are realistic. But I don't want to finish the year with 120-130 wins or so. Again, I apologize for the length...I tried to keep it as short as possible while giving enough detail so you all at least knew I've been working on tweaking and have searched the forum and all! :)
SESbb30
well, what i did was play on mvp in exhibition games until you get used to it.
MarkB
No need for apologies, the length is perfectly fine. It's a hell of a lot better to have a lot of information to base an answer off of than not enough. Thanks for searching the forums, and for creating a well thought-out post. I haven't messed much with sliders, so can't provide much assistance, but I'm sure some of the slider experts around here will be able to assist. Best of luck. :)
tribefanisu2003
Thanks for the replies. Good to know I didn't go over the "way too long" territory on the post! I kinda figured it would wind up being a "just keep tweaking them" deal. But it's just so frustrating, so I thought I'd save myself some time if someone else happened to be about at the same playing level I am. Last night for instance, I was playing against the Twins and Johan. I had 2 hits the entire game, both solo shots, ... won 2-1. It's almost like the cpu comeback AI on MVP level is too good, and the user comeback AI on All-Star level is just a little too good. What's even more frustrating is for the most part, the stats are winding up pretty realistic, except for the win/loss. I've probably had 4 or 5 extra inning games in my last 11 games or so, but wind up winning them all. Every now and then, I'd like to get blown out, or lose a good pitcher's duel, etc. I don't know...I'll just keep tweaking them and hopefully find a good balance at some point. If worse comes to worse, I'll just move it up to MVP and keep tweaking them there until hopefully the cpu stops coming back on me EVERY game! But, when I find the right mix, I'll post the sliders on the sliders thread, for those who happen to be in the same kind of "in-between" All-Star and MVP territory, as I am.
