Ghostrider
This project has been revived! I'm starting off with the National League Central. Today's installment is the Milwaukee Brewers. Download the file, adjust your rosters, let me know what you think! I welcome feedback and look forward to continuing this mod. Ghostrider
The files will be released as Microsoft Word (.doc) format. I can provide .txt. format files for those that don't have Microsoft Office, just post in this thread and I'll get you taken care of. This file can be used as a resource for you to edit pitchers via the "Create/Edit Player" in Dynasties, Owner Mode, etc. or via MVPEdit. It is also possible that this information could be incorporated into a roster file in the future, so stay tuned for that possibility.
Ghostrider
We're going to have a double-feature tomorrow. I'll upload both the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs pitchers with correct pitches. Let's get this thread active and get to downloading those files! kgbaseball
Most pitchers are pretty close, but some of them have one too many. Sheets doesn't have a slider, Cordero doesn't have a changeup (it's s splitter). I don't think he throws a 2 seam either. Turnbow has a 4 seam fastball and 2 variations of a breaking ball. You can scrap Capuano's 2 seam and curveball.
Ghostrider
All those pitches are tracked on scouting sheets that I've looked at. If you have ESPN Insider you can check it out for yourself.
kgbaseball
I'd be worried about ESPN's scouting then. I watch every single Brewers game, and am 100% positive about what they throw.
Ghostrider
Well the relievers probably have 4, 5, or 6 pitches but will only use their top 2 or 3 out of the bullpen. That is why the scouting sheet lists more pitches than you have seen them throw in a broadcast. I don't have the luxury of seeing every single pitcher in the majors pitch so I'm going to have to go by the scouting reports. For those of you who follow a certain team closely, feel free to edit my pitch lists even further. I'm just collecting information to the best of my ability. mellberg4
Hello. Is there a site around that actually has a list of pitches each indvidual pitcher throws?? Thanks!
Ghostrider
You can search Google for scouting reports on the pitcher or wait for me to do the research for you.

medric822
I'd be worried about ESPN's scouting then. I watch every single Brewers game, and am 100% positive about what they throw. They said that Dice-K has 8 pitches including a Gyro ball, which even he calls just a changeup. ESPN Scouting is worthless. I'd ask a homeless painter first, e'd have a better idea. SwinginSoriano
Just to think the "mythical" gyroball was just a really fast above average changeup the entire time. Funny thing is Kei and Dice have close ERAs, and Kei sucks. On topic, the scouting reports do list too many pitches. I watch a lot of baseball and video, and sometimes I imagine what sort of hallucinations these scouts have.
Ghostrider
Unfortunately I don't have the resources to personally watch every single pitcher in the major leagues throw. Therefore I am going off scouting reports. I doubt they are that incorrect. If you feel the need to alter what I put in the file, then that's completely up to you. Let's finish the gyroball saga, from Wikipedia: According to the result of analysis by high-speed photography, from the batter's view, his forkball-like slider rotates in a counterclockwise direction (clockwise from pitcher), and it is explained that the gyro axle is inclined. However, Tezuka and Himeno have different conclusions. Himeno says it is not just a slider but definitely a kind of gyro, because the gyro has a strong possibility of making different big curves (like slider, shuuto, or forkball) as well as speed illusion when the gyro axle is inclined. That's why Matsuzaka is supposed to be a gyroballer, but Tezuka insists it is a little bit different. Tezuka thinks gyroball is an "unexpected ball" and basically it is not a breaking ball, it doesn't move at all. although it is quite close to a slider, on the other hand, Matsuzaka drops it on purpuse.Seemingly, Matsuzaka himself agrees with Tezuka's opinion and he doesn't think he is a real gyroballer. He said, "Looks like they are talking about my cut fastball or slider. I guess sometimes it has a similar rotation of a gyro, when I fail to throw the cut fastball or the vertical slider properly, but it is not exactly a gyro itself. It is different. There is a particular way of throwing it. I guess it is a kind of shutto-like cut fastball. I can't throw it consciously, but occasionally I throw it accidentally. It seems to be rising, and the speed appears accelerated close to the batter. Nobody hit it before."Actually Seibu Lions's catcher, Tooru Hosokawa said Matsuzaka occasionally throw strange cut fastball with gyro-spiral, it drops lengthwise,or turns aside, or rise up. n addition, some players who played with him in Seibu Lions testified he sometimes throws it (Tezuka's gyroball) when he plays catch, so even Tezuka affirms the possibility.
