spoint10
I just went and bought the Logitech Dual Action controller and FINALLY started playing my first game of MVP 07 baseball on my computer. Everything is working wonderfully, however... I'm playing as the Twins, and I noticed that Johan Santana's orange/yellow spot where you have to hit it on the uptake is very small (though I would imagine it should be rather large, due to how good of a pitcher he is). Is there something I'm missing here? Also, some of Santana's pitches were spot on when I hit the marks I needed to on the pitching meter, however the pitch would end up being nowhere near where I placed it, even though the pitch was perfect. Anyone know why this would be? If somebody could answer these questions for me, it would be a huge help. Thanks a bunch, Derek
Nealsdale
do you have to use a controller? or is the keyboard ok?
spoint10
I have to use the controller. I have played video games all my life with a controller, and I tried playing with the keyboard and it just won't work for me. So is there anyone who would know what is causing this problem? spitoon
I'm not sure it's a 'problem' per se. The datafile was modded to make pitching more difficult and result in a few more user walks. There are a couple of things you can do. 1) Make sure your Pitch Meter Difficulty slider is set properly. +50 may be a good place to start and then, if it's too easy you can edge it down as you see fit. In conjunction with that slider there is the User Pitch Control slider that you may want to move up a bit as well. 2) You can fine tune the datafile to make pitching easier. Uncompress the datafile.txt, search for "34 accuracywidth", then in the line following that, find the value at 34. It's probably 0.060 right now. The stock setting is 0.120, so you could go back to that, or something in between. I think alot of people have settled around 0.090 - 0.100. Save and recompress the datafile and you should be 'good to go'.
spoint10
Spitoon, thanks for that info. I'll try it out here soon. However, the problem is more importantly where the pitches are going. I move the cursor down and away, hit the pitching meter perfectly (so you'd think it should go down and away...), and it ends up going up and in. I played a game where I never even moved the cursor from the middle, and all the balls ended up somewhere OTHER than the middle. And it's not a case of me not getting the perfect pitch. Actually, now that I think about it, I may still be confused with MVP 07 (NCAA) and these controls. Correct me if I'm wrong (please), but with this game, you hold the pitch you want till it hits the bottom of the meter, then release, then hit it again in the orange zone? spoint10
I just went through and bumped the pitch meter difficulty up to 50, which helped dramatically. However, I would love to widen the meter, as spitoon said, but how do I go about doing all the things he mentioned? Saying things like "uncompress this" and "search for that" fly right over my head. It would be great if someone could help me out with that. Also, what can I do (besides downloading the 5th patch, which I have) to cut down on the choppiness of the game? Even when I play an exhibition game, I barely get through the first 4 innings without things skipping and just being choppy.
