cocobee
Has anyone had success adding new jerseys to the MVP 07 mod? I tried using MVP studio but it would get stuck at 15% and do nothing. I like Kraw's installer thingy but not sure if anyone else had success with jerseys. I'd like to add a few throwback and carteryards "IcyWhite" Mets jerseys from a few years back. If you have added new jerseys with the mod, please share how and what tools you've used. I know the big. file is so sensitive that I wouldn't want my game to crash every time. But I definitely want to add more jerseys to the game. Any help or point to the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
big shmooz
The reason why it is not installing properly is because the models.big is too large for MVP studio to work with. (mvp studio uses gfxpak which has a 3,000 file limit) If you want to use use mvp studio to install, you will have to do so in conjunction with another program such as eagraph. I also recommend you to compress the files first using eazip) You might also try the installer thingy in addition to mvp studio. Here is how. Take a default models.big (since it is small enough to not incur the 3,000 file limit) & put that one in your mvp studio folder. Then add your jersey preview screens to the uniforms.big file that came with mvp 07 mod after copying the uniforms.big file to your mvp studio folder. (if it is easier for you at this stage, you can actually add any uxxx.fsh & fxxx.fsh files as your uniforms with mvp studio during this step. The reason this is so is, the models.big you are installing it to is not going to be the one you are going to actually use.) Then after you finish installing the preview jersey's to the uniforms.big file, close mvp studio. The following is very important.... Do not export the files. Instead, manually take the uniforms.big file & copy it to your frontend folder. You now have your preview screens. Take note to match the uniform letters to the one that you assigned it to in mvp studio. For example... mvp studio may assign an Angels uniform for you as "u000h.fsh". Make sure to manually change the one assigned to the preview screen in the uniforms.big file with the same number to the actual uniform files too. (also do the same with the f000h.fsh file). Otherwise your preview screen will not match the actual uniform you choose in the game. Next is the second part where you install the actual uniforms to the models.big. This you will do with either the installer thingy or with eagraph. After you finish doing this make sure to put the models.big to read only. If you fail to do this last step eventually your models.big file will corrupt. Anyway, I hope I have explained this well enough for you to be able to install your own uniforms. Good luck. (mvp studio uses gfxpak which has a 3,000 file limit) The latest version does not use gfxpak http://www.mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=1381.html This is the same as 2004 and 2005, and this update supports models.big over 3000 files which means this works for Total Classics and MVP 06 MOD. big shmooz
Kraw... oh my gosh... If this is so I have been such an idiot. I have been doing HOURS & HOURS of extra work in the models.big releases. THANKS for this info. I can't believe how much time I have wasted LOL. I really appreciate this so my future updates will not be as time consuming. Thanks for the link. I don't know how I could have missed this update.
big shmooz
One note to add, the problem cocobee may be having is, he may be using an older version of mvpedit just as I have been.
cocobee
big schmooz and kraw, thank u. can't wait to add some of the old jerseys again. is there such thing as the big file being too big?
Homer
yes it can... i once had a models.big file that was near 2 gigs. this was early in my career here and that only made me realize that i didn't do what big schmooz mentioned above and ended up corupting my file. I've added about 5 jerseys, now i want to go see the Giants jerseys and it stops at 70%? Then I go in the game and play with the Giants and the game crashes. Has this happened to anyone? OH well, now I'm fucked! Adding these jerseys have currupted my files somehow? Now Oakland crashes and I didn't even mess with them. I can tell which teams are currupt because there jerseys previews don't show and when i try to encode them they stop at 70%. If anyone could send me or point me out to a big file and a portrait file to replace the ones i messed up. I'd appreciate it, or do i have to reinstall MVP 07? big shmooz
Where are you going to see the jersey's? Do you mean in mvpedit? Also, had you made the models.big read only before playing a game? If you had not, you probably have already corrupted your models.big file. In that case, you will need to replace it & redo your work. In order to check if you have a corrupted models.big, open it with biggui & see if any cyberfaces (files beginning with the letter "c") are decompressed. (in order to see this, look at the rightmost column & see if any of the files beginning with the letter "c" say "no") If so, you know your file is corrupt. I have not used mvp07 but if you can extract the models.big & the uniforms.big files from that download somehow, you should not need to reinstall. I'm seeing the jerseys through MVP Studio. I figured if I go to a team and it doesn't let me see there jerseys and it stops at 70%, it's more likely currupt. I try to play with the teams with no previews in Studio and they crash in the game? I downloaded the new big file over at eamods. But the game still crashes? Once the models.big file is corrupted, what can I do? I replaced it with a totally new models big and it still crashes? Is it fixable in biggui? BTW, I didn't do the read only thing, I'm a jack ***. I was just happy to get the jerseys in the game that I kept going. Thanks again for all your help.
cocobee
It's my uniforms big, I see some jerseys are not compressed and they match the the Giants, A's etc. I'm going to try to compress them using biggui, unless there is an easier way to compress all these files--or it's just currupt? EDIT Biggui won't even open up the uniforms big now, there was an error when i tried to compress the files that were not compressed. And since, I could not open it again. But I thinks it's definetly the uniform big. The models big looked good. If anyone knows where i can get another uniform big from, I'd appreciate it. big shmooz
I would not recommend compressing them in biggui. Use eazip. I will upload the necessary files you need. Just extract the two files I upload in the zip to the same folder as your uniform files after you extract them. Btw... I am assuming your jersey preview bitmaps are correctly sized at 128x128. If not, the preview screens of the jersey's will not work.
cocobee
Thanks man but I found an "originals" folder inside the MVP Studio. I put the old uniform big and replaced and voila the game worked again. Now I have to make sure that the file is read me before I test the jersey ingame. Thanks for the help bro
big shmooz
You don't need to make the uniforms.big read only. (If that's what you mean) Only the models.big has this problem. Just make sure though that the files are compressed. I don't know why mvp studio did not work for you since when I use mvp studio, the files (in the uniforms.big) are ok after installing the preview jersey's. I am therefore wondering if the actual bitmaps you are using are perhaps incorrectly sized. (if they are correctly sized, they should say in the file size in windows explorer that they are 128x128 & are 49 kb <if you move your mouse over the file, it will say 48 kb>)

My problem is they are not compressing in the uniforms big but my models big is fine. Kind of the opposite problem. Going to work, will tinker when i get home. good to know I have a uniform big to put back in case it crashes again in my experimentation. I tried the installer thingie by kraw, but i can't see the portraits or the jersey in game?
Homer
yeah i can't get kraw's installer to add uniforms to empty spots, but if the spot is already used, i can install the portrait over it just fine. like schmooz said, mvp studio should install the portraits just fine. even when it fails at 70%, the uniforms.big file should still contain your portraits. just simply export it or simply copy and paste the whole file into your directory. then you can use another method to install into the models.big file (kraw's installer). at least that's what i have to do to install into new slots. cocobee
Thanks fellas, I reinstalled mvp studio. So far I put 4 jerseys in the game successfully. I've been saving each uniform big after each successful install. But my problem is defiently the uniform big getting corrupt. The preview file for the new jersey is not getting compressed for some reason causing the game to crash. the model big is fine (so far)

cocobee
where is the game crashing? When it did , the jersey select screen. I looked at the uniform big and I could tell which teams were going to crash because they were not compressed. Not sure what caused them to uncompress? Is there a program where i could compress a big file anytime I wanted? That would help me tremendously, as that seems to be my biggest problem is stopping the uniform big to uncompress some teams. Homer
well if they're already in the uniforms.big file, just extract those fsh files that aren't compressed, and use kraw's installer to re-install it. it compresses for you, or you could use eazip. I asked for help on this before and no one did, and I'm not saying you can but here is the info I need I have never used MVPstudio, I did at one point install it to make a hybrid gfxpak file. Do you pick the open slot to install the new uniform to or does it just use the next available slot? now with uniforms in general, can all teams use 12 slots?
Homer
toronto is the only one i know of that can only use 11. so far i've tested the mariners AAA team it have had no problems with all 12 slots. i can't vouch for the rest yet. when i install uniforms, i just picked the next available slot. then pay attention to mvpstudio installing it. it assigns it to a slot so i know what to name my uniform file to. once it's done, i simply use the uniform.big file it creates. then i can rename my uniforms to the proper name and use your installer. cocobee
Something Koo Koo happens with MVP Studio, I do everything then out of the blue I'll look at the models.big and some uniforms that I haven't even touched are uncompressed? hence, causes the crashes. The models big file is so sensitive. Kraw, can u please make a tool that compresses a big file? I feel that if I can just compress the uniform big and the model big after each time and all the files compress, it will take away the crashes and make MVP Studio "more' workable. Homer, will EA Zip compress all the files in a particular big file? If so, how do i do that? Thanks fellas.
cocobee
Kraw, Your installer thingy works excellent getting the files in there proper big file but I noticed the reason that jerseys are not showing up in game are because for the "jersey select" option it ask for a bmp for the preview. The installer just puts the bmp in the uniform big and not a fsh of the preview bmp. If there is a way to make the bmp preview a fsh and then compress it in the uniform big, that might fix the probelm of uniforms not showing up in game. If so, it'll make it easier to install uniforms than mvp studio. We just have to remember what slots we have used. thanks

Only the files inside the .big file. Extract those particular .fsh files. Then... As was explained earlier, just compress the decompressed files with eazip & then re-install it to your appropriate.big file. Also, regarding your next post, there is a program called irfanview that will change a .bmp file to a .fsh file. You can get it at www.irfanview.com . Make sure to download the plugin too, since you will need it for the program to read .fsh files. The problem is, you may need to have an alpha too. (something irfanview will not make for you) Anyway, it may be worth a try.
