HFLR
One of my friends told me this on school and I thought he was lieing but it was true. It happened when Disney Channel was playing a program called Playhouse Disney (for 1 - 6 year old kids) Full Story Disney Channel broadcasts (you know what) 03/05/2007 09:26 - (SA) Middletown, New Jersey - A cable television company is investigating just how children in some New Jersey homes ended up watching (you know what) when they tuned into a popular cartoon programme on the Disney Channel. Paul Dunleavy, a Middletown, New Jersey, subscriber to cable giant Comcast, was stunned on Tuesday to find his five-year-old son watching something other than Handy Manny, a cartoon show about a bilingual Latino handyman, Manny Garcia, and his talking tools. "It was two people doing their thing, it was full-on and it was disgusting," the Middletown father of three told The New York Daily News newspaper on Wednesday. "I couldn't believe it," he said. "We try to do the right thing to protect our kids from this stuff, and then they broadcast it on children's TV." Dunleavy's phone number was unlisted when The Associated Press tried to contact him on Wednesday. 'Isolated issue' Comcast spokesperson Fred DeAndrea confirmed the programming error occurred at 09:30 on Tuesday. He described it as an "isolated issue in a local New Jersey facility". "We automatically detected the issue and it was corrected promptly. We apologise to any customer who experienced an issue yesterday morning," said DeAndrea, who said the mistake was made by his company, not Disney. DeAndrea declined to provide the duration of the pornography broadcast, how many homes it reached, how the mistake happened and whether anyone will be disciplined for the X-rated error. A Disney Channel spokesperson said the company has asked Comcast for assurances that appropriate measures are taken to prevent such offensive incidents from happening again. The state Board of Public Utilities, which regulates the cable industry in New Jersey, has made a similar request and asked to meet with Comcast officials to discuss the matter. "We value the trust that parents have in our programming and certainly take yesterday's regrettable programme disruption extremely seriously," said Disney Channel spokesperson Karen Hobson. "Comcast has taken full responsibility for this situation, and we understand that they are currently working to determine the root cause of the incident." Dunleavy told The Daily News that he received an apology directly from Comcast. But he was still disturbed by the incident. "My son was extremely upset because he thought he'd done something wrong, and we're hoping what he saw doesn't become an issue for him." What do you think about this error by Comcast? Will this affect the kids that watched this channel? Post your thoughts
superciuc
Sure that the kids will be affected. Especially on Disney Channel that is a channel watched by kids. This is not good. But this is not the baddest thing. Now you should say "this is not the baddest thing? Are you crazy? Kids watching (you know what) is the baddest thing" Well, there are some adults that do (you know what) with kids. This is the baddest thing. medric822
Well, I have my own opinions about Disney, which I will keep to myself because they are mostly about their parks, but this is just unacceptable. I wouldn't allow my kids to watch this after what happened. The bets thing to do IMO is to get tapes/DVD's of pre shown shows, screen them to make sure there OK, and then show them to your kids. There is just too many dirty things on TV nowadays. I mean, they show ads for Girls Gone Wild as early as 6 AM or 7 AM, when some children are up getting ready for school. It seems that large TV corps have taken sex out of the bedroom and placed it in front of childrens eyes. TV is just getting too raw anymore. I'm not saying bring back the Brady Bunch, but there's no need for Victoria's Secrets fashion shows to be available to watch on every TV in the USA. JP_Frost
it's always best to get a head start in life ... What can you say though, it's just a mistake. Most of the kids that saw were way too young to understand what was going on anyway, or have any idea what it relates to, so they were probably just dissapointed that their favorite cartoon wasn't on. When i'm not playing MVP i'm school or i'm playing baseball. Now you have to cover kids eyes and ears. A lot of bad things happen and too many kids get involved now. We have to protect them. medric822
Its hard though. I mean, you have to act like Stalin and censor everything. There are just too many bad things in life. I mean, to trail off topic, I've seen kids as young as 7th grade smoking after school, see kids bring beer and drink it at school, and not get caught. Public schools dont help the situation. You may have 30 kids in a group at school, and all it takes is one whose parent dosn't give a rats behind about them, and they can cause the other good kids to act bad. JP_Frost
Lets suppose that you have young kids. Well but what would you have said if you were with your kids watching Disney Channel and then Poof! you get another thing. of course I was Medric, no need to get riled up. I would switch the channel and tell them that wasn't meant for their eyes, just like a scary movie. It all depends on the age though, if they're too young to realize something strange was going on and ask questions about it, you can easily make up a story. If they're a bit older, it's more difficult. Is it a big mistake? of course it is. Would it upset me? yes it would. Kids aren't supposed to see that sort of stuff, but I think at that age you can comfort them more easily, because they don't have a clue what it is they saw and what it relates to. EDIT: Medric, I'm not sure how old you are when you're in 7th grade (the dutch system works differently), but when you're about 12/13 years old you start to get curious and experiment. I know I first smoked when I was 12, probably drank my first beer then and smoked pot for the first time as well. That doesn't mean that my parents didn't give a damn about me. When they found out, they sat me down and talked to me about the dangers of smoking and that sort of thing. That's the stuff young kids do -- as a parent you try to avoid it as long as possible, but eventually they will try stuff out whether you like it or not and that's why they need to be properly educated on those issues by both the parents and the schools. I would say "Instead of watching TV, play baseball with me little man". As for drinking and smoking, it happens. This is not a thing that you can control. You say to them " do not drink and do not smoke" but they do that. They see coolest guy in the school drink and smoke and they imitate him. EDIT: medric is 18, JPfrost. medric822
Yeah, well. When I was in 6th grade, my teacher gave us a 2 month class about drugs, alachol, and tobacco, and the dangers of them, and it scared the currorsity outta me, lol. I never drank, never smoked, and, besided my pain pills for my surgery, I never did drugs.

medric822
Yeah. well, lets get back on topic somehow. What do you think should be done with Disney? I say that they be forced to donate $50 Million to anti-pornography org.'s.

Same here, when im with my friends sometimes they smoke and I dont care, they tell me "Do you want one?" but they know that I will always say no, and they dont care, we are a good group of friends and it doesnt matters if I smoke or not. I never drank, never smoked, and, besided my pain pills for my surgery, I never did drugs. And that's very good, but that has alot to do with your character as well and not just the parents' influence. We'd all like to keep our kids protected from all the bad things this world has to offer, but we cannot. Eventually they will have to stand on their own two feet and they will experience alo tof things for the first time, some bad things and some good things. To me, if I were to have kids, the most important thing is self-awareness and independence -- I would want my kids to know what they are doing and stand up for themselves when they need to. They will make mistakes, but they should learn from that and I think the more obsessively you protect them from making those mistakes, the lesser they will learn from them. anyway, enough ranting about parental duties. I'm off to watch some porn and smoke a cigarette :smokin: (I'm 22 btw, so I'm allowed to do these things ...)
medric822
Yeah, well, I dont agree with what your about to do, since it has been known to ruin lives and relationships, not the smoking either, but to each his own.
JP_Frost
well, that's the last time I'll make a joke. Besides, those lives and relationships must not have been very solid to begin with if those things ruin them

JP_Frost
Its practicaly cheating on your partner. right. The world is filled with cheaters. I think you're taking this adult movie thing a bit too serious. I'm pretty sure that most people who watch it do it without any emotion whatsoever other than "lust"

seanzarelli
I bet you all the guys throwing a hissyfit over this probably have a video or two downloaded on their cpu's but they want to make it look like they are good and have never seen such a thing. As for the whole incident, it wouldn't have been a big deal to me, because like someone said, the children were young and they probably had no idea what was going on anyways. Think about how many kids saw Janet Jackson's boob at the Super Bowl. I don't think the kids went, "Mommy, Daddy...What's that?" Hell, if anything, it could have been a way to show children the right way of how a lady get pregnant swerving away from the whole "the stork brings the baby" story, lol. medric822
d1git4l_cha0s, O took offence to that. Yeah, I've seen porn before. Was it right? No. How many kids wiuld heve even known what happened at the super bowl? But to see that on the Disney Chanel for more than a split second is too much.
