I thought about not doing a Cubs dynasty since JR26 is changing the whole terrain.

But the Cubbies are my team and I gotta show them so love. So here goes, hope you guys enjoy it.

Prior, Wood to Start Season in AAA

In a move that no one was surprised by, the Cubs announced that Mark Prior and Kerry Wood would be starting the 2007 season in the minors.

"They simply are not ready yet." said Lou Piniella addressing the sea of reporters.

"They need more work, and they can get that in Iowa"

Prior refused to comment on the move, instead slammed his locker and walked out the room.

Wood was a little more forthcoming.

"I agree with the move. I need a little more work to get my arm strength to 100 percent." "I want to help the team, and the best way to do that is to be on top of my game."

In 2003 Mark Prior and Kerry Wood were the darlings of the pitching world. Pitching the Cubs into the National League Championship Series. Since then both have succumbed to the injuries, and have been working to get back where they where.

Wade Miller is rumored to be given the 5th spot in the starting rotation and Angel Guzman is a shoe in for a spot in the bullpen.

Good luck, I'll be looking forward to another Cub's Dynasty!

Thanks man, I appreciate the vote of confidence. I hope my dynasty is a quarter of the greatness that yours is.

Thanks for the compliments liteskin, they are very much appreciated. Just remember, the way each individual perceives, plays, and presents their dynasty is always unique to that single person. There is no wrong way to do it.

With that said, this one looks great, and I'll definately be following.

A dejected Mark Prior walks off the mound with the trainer.

Chicago (AP) -- Mark Prior looked completely frustrated and disgusted as he sat in front of his locker. His Iowa Cubs jersey hanging up behind him. Prior once again is going to miss the season. After feeling a slight pop from throwing a breaking ball, Prior went to see the famous sports doctor, Lewis Yocum.

Prior was diagnosed with still having "looseness" in his shoulder and is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. The surgery will put Prior out for the year.

"Its a shame" said Cubs Manager Lou Piniella "He's a good kid. He is just going through some tough times"

Everyone thought something was wrong with Prior when he couldn't break 85 mph with his fastball. Yet, he maintained he was still building arm strength and the velocity would come in time. Well it wouldn't and it won't...at least not this year.

In other pitching news, Kerry has been put on the 15 day disabled list.

"He really needs to rest his arm for a bit" said pitching coach Larry Rothschild. "We are going to take him really slow"

Lucky for the Cubs, they were not really depending on Prior and Wood to be healthy. The went out and signed Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis. The Cubs start the season in Cincinnati. Carlos Zambrano gets the nod as the opening day starter.

Interesting lineup, having Soriano batting 5th. I like how you've got Theriot leading off. Any plans to call up Pie?

Not yet I want to see how he performs in Iowa.

I'm batting Soriano 5th in order to get some more rbi's from him and to have some speed in the middle.

I really don't like Soriano playing center, I'm considering moving him to left and sliding Jones to center and playing Murton/Floyd in right.

CUBBIES WIN OPENER IN EXTRAS

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Cubs were down 4-1 going into the top of the 9th. The Reds brought in their closer David Weathers. The outlook was pretty bleak.

"Nobody in the dugout gave up hope" said Michael Barrett "We had a feeling we were going to score some runs."

And score some runs they did. Aramis Ramirez led it off with a single, but Soriano flied out. Some of the fans started to head up the stairs and out the park. Then Cliff Floyd singled and the Cubs had a little something going. Mark Derosa doubled down the right field line driving in Ramirez and moving Floyd to 3rd. Barrett grounded out scoring Floyd. By this time the crowd had reached a fever pitch, which I'm sure had some of the early exiters scrambling to the surrounding bars to find out what was going on.

Daryle Ward pinch hit and walked. The Ryan Theriot dealt the big blow...a clean single to right scoring DeRosa and tying the game.

The Cubs would go on to score 5 more in the 11th turning a one-time close game into a rout.

The Cubs won it 9-4. The same 2 teams will play Wednesday.

Lilly Makes Strong Showing as Cubs Win 2nd in a Row

CINCINNATI(AP) -- Newly signed Ted Lilly said he wasn't nervous before his first National League start.

"I'm not nervous at all, I'm just ready to get out there and get the adrenalin pumping."

Proving exactly what he said, Lilly went out and calmly through 6 quality innings. He allowed 0 runs on 8 hits and struck out 4.

"He went out there and got the job done, and that's exactly what you want to see" said Lou Piniella.

"His breaking ball was late breaking and his fastball had excellent movement" said Michael Barrett, who went 2-4 with a run scored.

Cubs Lose Squeaker in Finale With Reds

CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Cubs came into today's game having won the first two against the Reds. They were looking for the sweep with newly acquired Jason Marquis on the mound.

Jason started off strong...at least in the first inning. After sitting the Red's hitters down in order in the 1st, Marquis got a little rattled. The Cubs scored 5 in the top of the 2nd and looked to be cruising to another win. But in the bottom of the 2nd Marquis was touched for 2 runs on a David Ross homer.

The Cubs scored 1 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th and led 7-2 after 5 innings.

Jacque Jones circles the bases after hitting his 1st homerun in the 4th.

Marquis would soon give up that lead. It started with him giving up 3 runs in the 6th inning. Capped by an Edwin Encarnacion homer.

Brew Crew Muscles Up on Cubs

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Brewers seemed to like what they saw from Rich Hill. Three different players hit homeruns in a 6-1 Brewers victory.

Rich Hill who pitched almost lights out in spring training with 6 and a third innings, gave up 5 earned runs on 6 hits, 3 of which were homers.

"I just didn't have my best stuff today. My breaking ball was flat and my fastball really had no pop at all" said Hill "I've just got to go out there and be more aggressive."

The Brewers Bill Hall got it started early as he a took at 2-2 fastball and deposited over the left field wall.

Bill Hall hits his first of the year.

Later in the game Johnny Estrada and Rickie Weeks would get a hold of Hill's pitches. Weeks homer being of the 3 run variety.

"He threw me a breaking ball that didn't break. It was just spinning in front of me screaming "Hit me! Hit me!"...so I did" said Weeks

Cubs and Brewers play game 2 tomorrow.

It looks like I am going to have to restart my dynasty.

I used mvp2005 editor and accidentally hit the projection button and now all my stats are screwed up.

So I will be restarting my dynasty tonight.
