NBA Playoffs

Recommended Posts

Did anyone just watch the Golden State/Utah game? The Warriors blew it. I was torn between watching the last minute of that and Lost.

What do you guys think of the playoffs so far? They've been way better than the regular season, that's for sure.

I think the NBA regular season is the worst professional regular season in any major sport. Usually, it's sloppy, horrendous basketball. The playoffs, while terribly long, are usually good TV.

Oh man, the playoffs are much better this year. And the dallas-warriors series was awsome. However, I wish my bulls should have traded for pau gasol or paul pierce. They can`t handdle the pistons and it`s just sad to watch them how they play. Overall, the nba finals should be good and I am so glad that miami and dallas are out (It would not be fun to have the same two nba teams in the finals as last year)

Are you nuts? MLB and NHL regular seasons are much worse than the NBA. Get real. The NFL and NBA are more popular anyways.

NHL is a niche sport that isn't real popular outside of the cities that have teams. NFL is far and away the most popular, and MLB has to be #2. The NBA regular season is a sleepwalk, yet somehow, NBA attendance has been increasing the past 3 years, something I'll never understand, as the product keeps getting worse.

The attandance keeps increasing because basketball is international game like soccer, not like baseball and NFL which r popular mostly in some latino and some asian countries. I guess money comes into the play also because nba advertaises them selfs everywhere.

Well, I disagree that baseball's not very international. There were many countries competing in the WBC, and the MLB represents dozens more. Of course, it's main popularity lies in the Americas and Asia, but its popularity around the world keeps growing.

NBA has Yao, and he is huge over in China... so that has to spike ratings over international seas just a little bit.

NBA is really on prevelant in asia and europe, it's not all that international.

And the problem is, David Stern spends more time developing basketball internationally then he does within the United States, which is really hurting the game here.

But I agree with the fact that the regular season isn't all that good. One of my major problems with the regular season: The fans never get into it. Basketball becomes SO much more enjoyable, both being there and watching on T.V., when the fans there are going crazy. Even in the playoffs they can be rather placcid. This is one reason (among many others) why I perfer college basketball over NBA. It doesn't matter where you play or what the score is, the home court is almost always going crazy.

And this playoff season has been rather unejoyable this year. Last year's playoffs were amazing, almost every game and series was tight. This year, the only ones that were good were Golden State/Dallas and Houston/Utah. This round, only Golden State/Utah has been good. Well, the first Spurs/Sun game was good, and the rest of the series should be good aswell. But the next round is going to be ***. Detroid is going to kick Cleveland's ***, and the Suns/Spurs is going to kick Utahs/Golden States ***. Finals should be good though, Detroid is look real serious this year, whereas they weren't playing up to par this time last year.

I think Baseball is international, but cmon. Half of those teams in the WBC shouldn't even have counted (South Africa, Australia anyone?). Yeah, the Americas and Asia, but it's ridiculous to say baseball is even on the radar anywhere else.

I do agree with the statement the NBA's product is getting worse. Not only are there very few good teams, but the ones that are good are the worst teams to watch, Detroit, Miami, and San Antonio. Thank god for the Suns, Nuggets, and Warriors. The bad part is, they're never going to win anything with their style of play, maybe Phoenix. As for basketball not being very international, there's decent leagues in Europe, Olympic winning teams in South America, growing popularity in Asia, and prospects who come out of Africa all the time. The only continent that's left is Antarctica.

The Americas and Asia account for about 2 thirds of the world's population.

Yeah, but I'm talking about spread over the entire globe. I believe baseball is pretty international, but it's limited to the Americas and Asia. Teams like South Africa, Italy, and Australia didn't belong in there. In my opinion, Basketball is the most international of the Big 4 (If you include Hockey in there) in America, just because it's spread over every continent, where as baseball is just limited to 3.

Well, the only country in Asia basketball is big in is China and the only country real big in in the Americas is USA. Europe is the only continent where it's really prevelant. I'd say baseball is more popular in more countries.

I'm not saying that there aren't good basketball teams from other countries, lots of good basketball teams from south and central America, but as a whole those countries just don't care much for the sport

That's true, but excluding Japan, the Caribbean, and Scandinavia/Russia, does anyone really care about anything besides soccer? I mean yeah, there's basketball in Europe, but it couldn't hold Futbol's figurative jockstrap in terms of popularity.

Does anybody have links to the Jeremy Piven TNT commercials? I saw the Nash one this morning and the Kobe one on youtube, but that was the only one I could find.

Wow Golden State, nice way to throw away the game with bad fouls and chucking up 3's. You didn't deserve to win anyway, considering I rebound better than you do.

If Utah or San Antonio gets to the finals (Thanks David Stern for giving the Spurs another Western Conference Championship; I don't care if it's a rule, it sucks) I'm going to throw up. Here's to Cleveland, Chicago, or Phoenix

As much as I respect the Pistons, I just can't watch their style of play. Chicago and Cleveland aren't much better, but I'm sick of seeing the Pistons or Spurs. Ideally, it would be Phoenix vs. Cleveland, but that's just me.

Oh, and the Avalanche fan in me wants to say something about your sig, but the NHL (and the Avs front office, for that matter) has killed my metaphorical playoff hockey boner.

I hate Stu Jackson and David Stern and all those a-holes they need to shove their rules down their throat and let teams play. That rule should be reduced to a fine at least during the playoffs this is rediculous.

P.S.

Bruce bowen is known for trying to sprain ankles. Stu Jackson called him during the regular season to warn that if he kept sliding his foot underneath jumpshooters he would get suspended. So then Stu decideds that its not only ok for him to take out Amares ankle and kick Nash in the nuts but he suspends Amare and Diaw WTF is this

I hate Ginobli. I'm still bitter from 2004 when his flopping cost the Nuggets a chance to advance. His flops single handedly turned the tide. That's how San Antonio does it, they use some bush league play to turn the tide of a series in their favor. They're still a great team, but they use that crap all the time.

Oh, and Phoenix, please don't give Kurt Thomas the ball so much. Thank you.
