Which players to resign?

I'm in my Yankees Dynasty after 1 year.

Using KG's roster I had awesome results.

Hughes, Wang and Pettitte dominated from the start and never looked back.

Phil Hughes went 21-5 with a 2.42 era with 150 SO and 74 BB in 223.1 IP. He won the Cy Young.

Wang was 2nd in the chase going 20-7 with a 3.45 era with 183 SO and 82 BB in 210.2 IP.

Pettitte was 4th (behind Johan Santana). 19-7 with a 3.88 era with 141 SO and 65 BB in 190 IP.

Mussina and Clemens both finished the season with an era in the mid 4's with about 12 wins each.

A-Rod went on a tear and won the AL MVP. He batted .328 knocking out 54 HRs and drove in 162 RBIs. If there was a Triple Crown, he would've won it. It was close though, as David Ortiz finished the season with a .323 batting average, 48 HRs, 154 RBIs.

In the minors, Humberto Sanchez was the ace of the staff. He finished going 18-9 with a 3.77 era in 165 IP. Desalvo finished with an impressive season himself. 13-11 with a 3.91 era in 158 IP. Lack of offensive killed great starters. JB Cox finished up the season with 31 saves and a 1.95 era in 37 IP. He had 30 SO and 26 BB. Sanchez and Cox were topics of callups, but I wanted to let them finish out the year.

Everyones favorite AAAA player, Andy Phillips, finished in SWB with a .297 BA, hit 29 HR and drove in 81 RBIs. Not bad.

Other than these guys, the rest of the staff had respective numbers through out the season.

I traded Igawa and Melky to Tampa for Carl Crawford and a low level prospect. I also shipped Abreu back to Philly for Barajas and Helms, a salary dump really. Pavano was released before the season started.

I was offered Schnieder and a prospect for Farnsworth and Nieves. I didn't pull the trigger though. I might revisit the trade.

I want to get the team younger and more defensive, and build pitching from the minors. At the same time, shed these huge contracts. Giambi is the only one left, 1yr @ 20 mil.

Mariano is asking for 3yrs @ 9 mil, Posada is asking 4yrs @ 10 mil, and Pettitte is asking for 3yrs @ 9 mil. I have 82 million to work with lol!

Right now my staff is Hughes, Wang and Mussina. No doubt Sanchez will get a call up. My BP is Proctor, Farnsworth and Bruney. Cox is getting called up.

There that's pretty much everything. What direction should I head in? I was thinking of bringing back Mariano for sure. Posada and Pettitte I'm not sure about.

My Yankee loyalty has me taking this game too seriously lol.

Posada finished .278, 22 HR and 97 RBIs.

Karstens numbers jumped way up. I did an auto optimize, and he actually beat out DeSalvo and Sanchez for the #5 spot. I still lack a lefty SP. I could sign Mike Maroth for 3yrs @ 3 mil? Mo accepts 2 yrs...

BUT I could go with Hughes, Wang, Mussina, Sanchez, DeSalvo. Sanchez and DeSalvo both have 2 pitches in the 80's, with 3 in the low to mid 70s with stamina in high 70s to low 80s. Then again Karstens with 4 pitches I think in the low 80s, and 1 in the mid 70s with high 80 stamina.

Giambis contact drops a huge amount. He floats around 55 contact against LHP/RHP while his power stays at around 90. Combined with poor defense, he's virtually useless at 20 mil. I might eat his contract, or have him DH in SWB. Because I've got essential 3 DH's to choose from.

Phelps bat turns VERY solid, but his defense is poor enough to keep him off first. Matsui could DH. I could have an OF of Crawford, Damon, and Ichiro. Or the surprise bat of Juan Miranda. Not sure which, but hes like a mix of 60s at the plate. He's the DH in SWB.

Tabata makes the Yankees, but for his defense. His hitting would still land him in AA or AAA.

Keep Tabata in either AA or AAA, just to be realistic.

Give Mo the money, he's Mariano. lol

Try and cut a year off of Posada's offer, it's usally able to go through every time. Maybe up the salary and make it a one year deal even...it might seem expensive but it's the Yankees...give Pettitte a two year deal or let him go.

Make a salary dump with Giambi and get some prospects. You don't seem to need any free agents.

Post your 25 man roster, I could try to help more.

I'm going to dump Giambi. He's never improves contact. Having 100 power and 50 contact is worthless as a DH. I can probably trade Phillips and keep Phelps at 1B. Move Matsui into the DH. Maybe I can swap Phillips for Melky and put him in LF. Melky, Damon, Crawford... Or hope that Ichiro or Jones hits the market.

Joe Nathan has been on the market a few times. He starts at 4 yrs @ 5.4 mil a year.
