Old School: Microsoft USB Sidewinder -- not supported?!

Hey guys,

I've got an old school USB Microsoft Sidewinder joystick -- just the basic 6-button kind like you see at the link below

I just installed MVP '05 and I'm told that I've got an unspported input device! What gives? I've never had a game not these this thing... any way to get MVP '05 to recognize it?

Is there a .cfg file or anything that might enable this?

Thanks for the help but getting JoyToKey mapped to the MVP 05 controls is beyond me! I've been trying and my eyes are glazing over. Is there any sort of .cfg file that I could DL where somebody might've already figured it out?

Failing that, am I better off buying a new joystick? i've got an XBOX (not XBOX 360), so is the route I should consider --- if it's relatively painless? Forgive the newb questions, but I've been searching the forums and my head is spinning!

I can't imagine anyone pitching with a digital joypad instead of an analog stick
