fastball83
I try to open my roster DAT file in MVP data database folder with MVP edit but when I choose the import DAT menu in MVP edit , he doesn't found my roster DAT file. Nevertheless when I open my data database folder , he is here (but he is in DAT format but whith window media player logo file), does it's right ? Perhaps this explain why I can't export player or roster with MVP edit in my game. Does a patch is necessary to overwrite this default roster DAT file ? thanks for your help. NY-City
mvpedit opens a series of .BIG files and compiles them into a format you cna understand and edit called an .MBE file then converts it back to the series of .BIG files do the game understands it thats all it does. EDIT:dont think its supposed to open DAT files
Jim825
mvpedit opens a series of .BIG files and compiles them into a format you cna understand and edit called an .MBE file then converts it back to the series of .BIG files do the game understands it thats all it does. EDIT:dont think its supposed to open DAT files You're incorrect about how MVPEdit works. MVPEdit has 3 ways to import rosters: 1. It can OPEN .mbe files (File -> Open command) 2. It can IMPORT .dat files (File -> Import command) 3. It can IMPORT individual teams from the Lahman database (File -> Open -> Lahman Database command) The only .big files that MVPEdit deals with is the models.big file, for cyberfaces, and portrait.big files for portraits. It doesn't use any .big files to create the .mbe file.
fastball83
Ok, but If I want put an all timers roster file in my MVP game in place of default rosters file, does I must import or export the downloaded all time roster file ? and what I must do with the original default roster dat file, does I must erase him or does MVP edit do that automaticly ? thanks
Jim825
Ok, but If I want put an all timers roster file in my MVP game in place of default rosters file, does I must import or export the downloaded all time roster file ? It all depends on what format the rosters are in. If you have .dat files, you don't need MVPEdit at all and you can simply copy them to your MVP Baseball 2005 data database folder. If you have just a .mbe file, open it up inside MVPEdit and export the rosters to the MVP Baseball 2005 data database folder. and what I must do with the original default roster dat file, does I must erase him or does MVP edit do that automaticly ? If you want to keep the original roster files, copy them someplace else. If you don't care about them, you can overwrite them with either method described above (direct copying of files or exporting with MVPEdit). If you don't save the original files, they will be gone after you copy over them or export with MVPEdit.
fastball83
My all time roster is an mbe file and the default roster in my MVP data...database is an roster.dat file. So If I want play with my all time roster mbe format, What I must do about my roster.dat file, I must send him in the paper dustbin or not ? because he seems that the cpu choose always to play with my roster defaut file and never with the mbe roster file of my database file. Jim825
The default rosters consist of ALL the .dat files in the data database folder, and not just roster.dat. The game knows nothing about .mbe files, as this file is ONLY used by MVPEdit. Here's what you need to do: 1. Open up MVPEdit 2. Import your All Time Rosters.mbe file 3. Export your rosters to MVP Baseball 2005 data database (or wherever your data folder is). 4. Exit MVPEdit 5. Start MVP Baseball 2005 Your All Time Rosters will show up in the game as the default rosters. It doesn't get much simpler than that....... Jim825
Sorry but that doesn't work for me, does I need a patch ? No, you don't need a patch. That should work just fine for you. fastball83
dynasty but I want make the change before begining dynasty, it's like my CPU use only defaut roster dat and never my exported mbe file nevertheless he is here in the data database folder. Does I need to erase all files in this database folder before export my mbe file ?
redsox
The game does not recognize .mbe files, only MVPEdit does. You would need to export the .DAT files into your database folder for you to see the changes.
fastball83
OK I have try that too but no more chance, the roster stay default roster, I don't understand what happen.
redsox
Please list your steps in detail. Maybe there is some tiny step that you are missing. Also, when you are exporting the .DAT file from MVPEdit, does it ask you if you want to overwrite the files in your database folder? If not, there in lies your problem - you are not extracting it to the right folder.
Jim825
By default, when you try to export, it will select the data folder. You need to scroll down in the folder window and select the database folder yourself. As a test, look in your data folder and see if there are any .dat files there. If there are .dat files there, then it means that you exported the files there instead of the data database folder.
