rookie_rick
although im a devoted red sox fan i have to say Lou Gehrig has to be the only choice for the 1B spot
krawhitham
You don't really... understand baseball, do you? But Frank lead the league in OPS more than Gehrig In truth it is a lot closer than you will ever admit Frank has some amazing numbers http://www.baseball-reference.com/t/thomafr04.shtml
Sean O
Thomas is a great, great ballplayer. But, he's not even in the same stratosphere as Gehrig: Thomas: .303 .423 .562, 92 Rate2, best season: .353 .487 .729 Gehrig: .340 .447 .632, 100 Rate2, best season: .373 .474 .765 That's relatively close, though Gehrig is clearly better. But when we adjust for league average, here's the result: Thomas: 158 OPS+ Gehrig: 179 OPS+ Which is the fourth best mark in history. Thomas is a sure-fire HoF, but Gehrig is untouchable.
