moto Posted May 24, 2007 Share Posted May 24, 2007 I had a virus about 2 weeks ago and it totally wiped my whole system so I formatted my hard drive and used my Windows XP disk to reinstall Windows. Now, two weeks later mind you, I restarted my comp and I got a message saying I might be a victim of counterfeiting. I bought this computer with XP and used the disk it came with. stevieaces Posted May 24, 2007 Share Posted May 24, 2007 I had this problem a couple months ago after switch ISP's, I used some program I found called boot and nuke or something like that to reformat my HDD, reinstalled windows and all drivers and its been fine since. On the tab in Mozilla it says Genuine Microsoft Software and keeps loading up the page. I have no idea what it is doing. Is this a virus or is it a real problem? I used the damn disk Circuit City gave me to reinstall Windows. I dont get what is going on. Why the hell would I steal Windows?!?!? It comes with the friggin computer! Edit: Was in 8th inning and computer restarted for no reason but I think it almost definitely had something to do with this validation crap. The virus I originally got was called BS 2.0 (Brave Shield). I dont know if that helps or not. Thanks in advance for any help someone can give.
