dutchxperienz
Braves Come Out Swinging, Mets Attempt Late Comeback Left:Andruw Jones rounds the bases after hitting a homer in the fifth. Right: Willy Aybar and Pete Orr appreciate Edgar Renteria's role in a double play. April 8 New York Mets (2-1) @ Atlanta Braves (3-0) The Atlanta Braves treated their fans to a victory in their first home game of the season and kept their unbeaten run going, which has now extended to four games. Despite facing a tough opponent in Oliver Perez and the New York Mets, they kept plugging away, failing to get a hit in only two of the eight innings they batted. Brian McCann pulled his batting average up from .455 to .467 as he went 2-for-4, prolonging his hitting streak in the process. In the field, McCann is also performing well, as a replacement for injured third baseman Chipper Jones. He and his own replacement behind the plate, Jarrod Saltalamacchia (who himself is enjoying a great start to the season and his major league career) are starting to establish an understanding, which was characterized tonight by Satalamacchia throwing two runners out at third on attempted steals. Despite controlling the game throughout, the Braves were starting to feel the pressure in the concluding innings, as the Mets found themselves with the bases loaded on several occasions. However, sharp defensive plays and intelligent pitching kept the visitors to scoring only three runs. But, as a result, closer Bob Wickman could not pick up his third save in as many opportunities. Note: Moises Alou picked up a sprained wrist during a defensive play in the eigth and will be out of contention for around 3 weeks (19 days). Player reaction: Jarrod Saltalamacchia following a convincing performance: "I couldn't have wished for a better start to my major league career. Of course I didn't want it to have to be in these circumstances [referring to Chipper Jones injury, which, subsequently, opened up the catcher's position], but when I get an opportunity, I have to step up and take it. I have to give a lot of thanks to Brian [McCann] who taught me a lot about being a catcher, and it feels great to work closely during games to get guys out." Next time on South Side Story: Game 2 of the Mets-Braves series.

dutchxperienz
Note: For some reason, the box score extractor didn't work for this game (the score was wrong, and my Braves roster had been switched with that of the Angels). Smoltz so close to no-hitter Left: Matt Diaaz hits a two-run homer in the fifth. Right: A spectacular catch from John Smoltz. April 9 New York Mets (2-2) @ Atlanta Braves (4-0) Mets 0, Braves 3 John Smoltz almost pitched a no-hitter against the Mets tonight, but a single by Paul Lo Duca prevented it. Although he only threw five strike outs, he pitched the full nine innings, and made players hit into double plays on many occasions. Besides, it remained a shutout, and Smoltz is now 2-0. Matt Diaz and Brian McCann continue to prove their worth offensively. Diaz hit a two-out, two-run homer in the fifth, while McCann went 3-for-5 and extended his hitting streak to five games. Player reaction: John Smoltz on his near-perfect game: "It's always great for a pitcher when he performs well, and a no-hitter is as close to perfection as you can possibly get. But the most important thing is that we got the win. Now BoxScore Extractor just needs to work!" Next time on South Side Story: The Braves will try for their second sweep of the season already as they hope to remain undefeated.

alcoholicstepfather
hey dutch, just curious if you are playing any of the minor league games. How are Richmond, Mississippi, and Myrtle Beach doing. If you are interested, I have a Braves audio mod for minor leaguers. PM me your e-mail and I'll send it to you. I uploaded it to EAmods, but I've updated it since then. I just need to test it some more before I upload an updated version.
dutchxperienz
TBH, I very rarely play the minor league games. I know that they could help me find young prospects that could help me out down the line, but it just takes too much time, so I always quick sim them. The only time I do play them is when I get a message from my staff asking if we should call a guy up. Then I play a game to check him out. I would like to try out an audio mod, if you need some extra testing to be done. BTW, my farm teams are doing alright. The Richmond Braves are 1-2 (last) in IL South The Mississipi Braves are first in the SL East at 2-1 The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are second in CARL South at 1-
