Hudda
I've been going over my box score reports from my franchise file and I can't figure out what occured during the game to cause the player to have not completed his plate appearance. What are examples of incomplete plate appearances? (hoping this may kickstart my memory about what happened) Thanks in advance.
xcrunner4623
Runner gets thrown out while batting. A walk, HBP.

xcrunner4623
A sac bunt or sac fly Both actually count as plate appearances. One is a ground out and the other is a fly out. I at least think I am sure.

redsox
Actually they are considered as plate appearances. They are just not counted towards an at-bat. * EDIT - definition of a plate appearance: AB + BB + HBP + SF + SH + times reached on defensive interference

seanzarelli
What the guy wanted to know was this: In the MVP boxscores, the only time it will say the guy did not complete a plate appearance is when a base runner ends the inning trying to steal or gets picked off causing the guy that was up at bat when the inning ended to lead off in the next inning. Whoever brought up Sacs and stuff went completely off topic.
palmer08
Yes. For calculed at-bats it's : TPA - (BB-HBP-SF-SH-times reaches...).
