Adam Johnson is an infielder in the Atlanta Braves organization. He is currently playing in AA, for the Mississippi Braves.

Hello Everyone,

There is 1 day before opening day of the minor league season. I am very excited to begin my season in AA. Although I didn't have the greatest numbers last year in High-A last season, I had a really good Spring. The Braves obviously saw that and that's why I am where I am.

The worst part about the first few days after assignment day is settling down in your new hometown. I have spent hours looking for a new apartment with my new roommate, SS Mike Meachem. We finally found a nice place close to the ballpark and have been moving our stuff in the last two days.

Another part of the minor league life is the struggles we face every day. Most people go to work and don't have to worry about having to pick and move at any second or just flat out losing their job. As a professional baseball player, you do. The bus rides aren't fun either, a 6 hour bus ride to your next game isn't great either. Some guys can sleep anywhere, I'm one who can't so I have seen a lot of places at night, especially through the Carolina League. Our life isn't what many people figure is grand and great.

Well, our bus is beginning to slow down, we're finally at our hotel. Tommorow at 7:05 p.m. my career as AA 2B takes off and a new season begins.

Until then,

Adam Johnson

Hello Fans,

Opening Day has come and gone once again and baseball is back in full swing. My opening game didn't go as well as expected, we won 1-0 and I went 1/5 with the RBI, but I also struck out twice. That series for me was terrible, I went a combined 3/20 in 4 games and had 2 RBI. I'm not sure if it was the unseasonably cold weather in Chattanooga or maybe it was just me, either way I was glad when we got on the bus to go to the warmer Jacksonville. The first game of that series I went 1/5 with a strike out, in a 4-1 win. The next day, Monday was my breakout day, I went 4/5 with 2 RBI, but the next day I was back to my same old self going 1/5 in a 5-0 win. I got Wednesday off and Thursday was an off day, so I'm ready for our home opener Friday. The team is doing really well, we are 6-1. We swept Chattanooga and took 2 of 3 from Jacksonville, oddly enough the night we lose is the day I get off. Our road trip was nice as well, it was cold in Chattanooga and warm in Jacksonville. Jacksonville is by far the nicest place you will play at in AA I'm sure of. We stayed at an extremly nice hotel with plenty of great restaraunts around and the park was very nice. Well, once again I have to go, this time to go out to the park and get acquainted with my new park, Trustmark Park.

Until next time,

Adam Johnson

Hello Once Again,

The last time we talked, I was getting ready for my home opener. First, our park, Trustmark Park is really nice. The infield is good, and the dimensions are fair. The crowd was out to see us take on Chattanooga and we didn't disappoint, we won 5-0 and I was 3-4 with an RBI. After a decent Saturday game, in which I hit my first homer, I have fell into a slump. In my last 4 games I have went 1/14, not great, the team has also fell into a slide, going 3-4 in our last 7. Another part of the minor league life is slumps. To get out of them you just have to stay focused, I only hace 1 strikeout in those 14 ABs, so at least I know I am hitting. To suceed you have to spend a lot of time in the cage, where I have been the last week. This weekend we start a road series with Birmingham, I don't know much about them, but hopefully I can get some hits.

Until next time,

Adam Johnson

Hello,

Once again I find myself snapping out of a slump. Our last road trip to Birmingham not only brought good fortune but a lot of good memories. Playing at the Hoover Met, reminded me of my college days at Alabama where I had some of the greatest games of my career in the SEC Tournament there. On top of that I had a few college friends come over to watch me, that felt really nice having someone shout your name during a game. That trip treated me nicely, I went 6/20 with a HR. The team took two of four and then we headed back to Jackson, Miss. to play a 4 game stand with Carolina. I played in 3 of those games going 5/14 with 2 HRs. The team took 3 of 4 and then headed back on the road. Now we are back on the road in Kodiak, TN, home of the Tennessee Smokies. This is a really nice area, being from Tennessee I vacationed to this area quite a bit as a teenager. Lets hope I have as much fun playing baseball here as I did on vacation.

Hoping for plenty of hits,

Adam Johnson
