CSable
After using several sources, I've created my stats for Rick Ankiel. I'd like to credit jake_the_snake_plummer for his B.C. Rich roster set, which I used for many of the different stats I couldn't find elsewhere. I also used a variety of different online sources like ESPN.com, as well as MVP Baseball 2003. Later today I'll upload a portrait pack that includes a good quality portrait of Ankiel to use if you wish. Here's the stats to put in MVPedit to create him: ----PLAYER Last name: Ankiel First name: Rick Audio/photo: 30 1st Pos: P 2nd Pos: RP Bats: L Throws: L Num: 66 Plate discipline: 2 Bunting: 6 Steal Agg: 2 Baserunning: 4 Speed: 44 Fielding: 7 Range: 3 Throw Str: 5 Throw Acc: 2 Durability: 4 Birthday: 7/19/1979 Hidden: No Salary: $100 Years: 2 ----APPEARANCE Height: 73 Weight: 215 Bone Prof: Stocky Body Type: Average Skin Tone: 3 Hair Style: 7 Unknown Hair Color: Black Facial Hair: None Batting Stance: Generic Swing Type: 1 Unknown Ditty: Rock Star Power: Average Face: 495 Bat Color: Light Brown Glove Color: Black Catcher's Mask: Normal Batting Glove: Yes Wristband: None Elbow Guard: None Shin Guard: None Socks: High ----PITCHING Stamina: 82 Pickoff: 3 Delivery: Johnson, Randy Fastball: Mov-0 Con-57 Vel-93 Desc-None Curveball: Mov-13 Con-48 Vel-74 Desc-Drop Changeup: Mov-9 Con-40 Vel-79 Desc-Slight ---- HITTING VS LHP Contact: 7 Power: 17 Zones: Blue-Gray-Blue Gray-Red-Red Blue-Gray-Blue Fastball Chs-12 Take-8 Miss-8 Slow Brk Chs-10 Take-6 Miss-10 Hard Brk Chs-X Take-4 Miss-13 LF-40, CF-20, RF-40 Fly-20, Grounder-60, Liner-20 HR-0 ---- HITTING VS RHP Contact: 19 Power: 18 Zones: Blue-Gray-Red Gray-Red-Blue Gray-Gray-Gray Fastball Chs-12 Take-8 Miss-8 Slow Brk Chs-10 Take-6 Miss-10 Hard Brk Chs-8 Take-4 Miss-13 LF-50, CF-20, RF-30 Fly-20, Grounder-60, Liner-20 HR-0 That should be it. I'll probably include this in the portrait pack as well.
DRaysGoRocco
Good stuff. My only comment is that he's a much better hitter than that. He's good enough for them to have considered changing him to an OF'er if he couldn't regain his control.
CSable
I didn't find any info on his hitting abilities, so I just went with what jake_the_snake had in his rosters. I'll see what I can find on that.
CSable
Ok just edited the stats. I fixed up the hitting after looking at his career hitting stats (he can hit for a fair amount of power but he's still not a very good hitter), adjusted the fielding (he's a subpar fielder), and a few other things. Here's what I got: ----PLAYER Last name: Ankiel First name: Rick Audio/photo: 30 1st Pos: P 2nd Pos: RP Bats: L Throws: L Num: 66 Plate discipline: 2 Bunting: 6 Steal Agg: 1 Baserunning: 4 Speed: 44 Fielding: 4 Range: 3 Throw Str: 7 Throw Acc: 2 Durability: 7 Birthday: 7/19/1979 Hidden: No Salary: $100 Years: 2 ----APPEARANCE Height: 73 Weight: 215 Bone Prof: Stocky Body Type: Average Skin Tone: 3 Hair Style: 7 Unknown Hair Color: Black Facial Hair: None Batting Stance: Generic Swing Type: 1 Unknown Ditty: Rock Star Power: Average Face: 495 Bat Color: Light Brown Glove Color: Black Catcher's Mask: Normal Batting Glove: Yes Wristband: None Elbow Guard: None Shin Guard: None Socks: High ----PITCHING Stamina: 82 Pickoff: 3 Delivery: Johnson, Randy Fastball: Mov-0 Con-57 Vel-93 Desc-None Curveball: Mov-13 Con-48 Vel-74 Desc-Drop Changeup: Mov-9 Con-40 Vel-79 Desc-Slight ---- HITTING VS LHP Contact: 26 Power: 44 Zones: Blue-Gray-Blue Gray-Red-Red Blue-Gray-Blue Fastball Chs-12 Take-8 Miss-8 Slow Brk Chs-10 Take-6 Miss-10 Hard Brk Chs-X Take-4 Miss-13 LF-40, CF-20, RF-40 Fly-20, Grounder-60, Liner-20 HR-0 ---- HITTING VS RHP Contact: 45 Power: 58 Zones: Blue-Gray-Red Gray-Red-Blue Gray-Gray-Gray Fastball Chs-12 Take-8 Miss-8 Slow Brk Chs-10 Take-6 Miss-10 Hard Brk Chs-8 Take-4 Miss-13 LF-50, CF-20, RF-30 Fly-24, Grounder-56, Liner-18 HR-
Vctrmaster
Why does he have little movement and control in his pitches? He wasn't like that in 2000-1.... haven't been in tune with baseball since then...
CSable
Ankiel does have a pretty good curveball, could even be rated a 15 by some people, but I just don't think his curve is quite as good as Zito or some others to the point where it could be rated that high. His control has always been his biggest issue, and the reason why he was sent down in 2001. He once threw 4 wild pitches in 1 inning, if that helps explain his control ratings. cjf711
Since Im a cardinal fan Ive been following rick VERY closely this summer and Its great to have him back!!! But coming off of TJ some things are different than the stats listed. As of now he is topping out at 92 but his fastball lives around 90-91 the majority of the time. The change stats look good, and like was stated in a previous post that curve could be bumped up to 15 movement. I know it is in my dynasty But Hes also added a slider to his arsenal which he is throwing at around 87ish. Its kind of a work in progress but in all of his rehab stats he was usuing it quite a bit with some success. As for his control we might want to wait and see but so far he has been VERY tight around the strike zone. 2 walks in 17 and 2/3 innins 0.75 era. This has been A AA and AAA starts though. TODAY HE IS AVAILABLE TO PITCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep an eye out he WILL be in the rotation next year!!! Hopefully ;)
