el_jefe061
Is OJ no longer considered a great football player? He did cut through defenses like no one in history. I am just curious, if ESPN reports that Michael Jordan killed a grip of people in the past, does that mean he is no longer to be considered a great basketball player? I really don't understand this. Is this hypothetical? Or is this just a play on the fact that he was crazy when it came to winning? I think people need to stop comparing Chris Benoit's murder suicide to sports, if someone in sports were to do this. Sports are an athletic exhibition, completely unscripted and done for the competition. Yes, it's entertaining and makes money, but it's not specifically "entertainment". Wrestling is scripted entertainment, like a soap opera with injuries. Chris Benoit's murder suicide would be comparable to Jerry Seinfeld going crazy and offing his family, not like Ken Griffey Jr. offing his. Wrestling is TV entertainment, just because there's big guys and injuries does not make it a sport.

But how do you consider a wrestler a great athlete? when everything is scripted.
TobiasLS
just try doing what they do in ring for as many times a year they do it and then tell me they are not athletes.
AstroEric
Just so long as you're willing to concede the same thing about professional dancers.
Guildster
And professional clowns...we were talking pro wrestling, right?
Bronx_Bum
But how do you consider a wrestler a great athlete? when everything is scripted. There is a difference between an "athlete" and an "actor". Nonetheless, Benoit was still an athlete, regardless of the actor he was required to portray.
