McCuth is having a good year so far, the reason i asked is i have been tryin to decided on a team now the trade deadline is past and pirates seem to be one that looks like oculd be fun

I've had a blast with them so far. Their roster is setup to be a good, the only real weakness is the starters. Everyone not named Zack Duke has an E.R.A. at or above 5.

nice, when picking a team i like to take a not so good team and build them up, with atleast one good prospect that could possibly make the majors in year 1 and build around them. so i have narrowed it to Pitt, Wash(no one good in minors though), Tampa and no Texas both have a lot of young talent, and The Reds. who knows who ill go with though

How Sweep It Is! Bucs complete 4 Game Sweep of Reds.

6d2bkug.jpg

Cincinnati, OH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates finished what they started today when they completed a 4 game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds with a 7-2 victory. Zack Duke went 8 strong innings allowing just 2 earned runs to pick up his 7th victory on the year and push his record to 7-2. Bronson Arroyo took the tough luck loss and saw his record fall to 1-6 on the year. Jason Bay got the Pirates off on the right foot by hitting his 11th homerun of the year in the 3rd inning and put the Pirates out to an early lead. A two run double in the 4th from LaRoche put the Pirates well on the way to victory as the lead was now 5-0. Zack Duke never looked back and didn't allow a run until the 8th inning with the score already 6-0. Paul Maholm would pitch a perfect 9th inning to close out the victory and secure the Pirates a series sweep over the Reds. With the 4 consecutive victories, the Pirates moved to just 1 game behind the division leading Brewers.

Buco Quotes:

Zack Duke:"This is the type of showing I expect myself to come through with each time I take the mound. We haven't had a ton of consistency out of the starting 5, and I just hope that I can continue to give a strong outings and provide some stability."

Jason Bay:"I'm just now starting to get my swing back. Where I was hurt for those couple weeks at the beginning of the season it really messed up my timing and swing. It feels good to have finally been able to get back where I know I can be."

What's that I hear in the background... "We are Family..."

thanks. All the photoshop work was just making me not want to update b/c I spent too much time on each one and I just want to play the games. So with this new format it allows me to be able to updated quickly and still get a decent update in.

Okay Mav...

Time to get the Cork Detector out. ;)

j/k man. Good job on the sweep! :)

lol, I'm beginning to wonder what's up with LaRoche. He's just been on fire since day 1 and has shown no signs of slowing down. He may end up taking away the single season HR crown from Bonds.

Pirates Continue Hot Streak, Beat Padres

Pittsburgh, PA -- The Pirates continued their torrid streak today by trouncing the San Diego Padres 8 to 1. The Pirates got to Padres starter Jake Peavy early in the 2nd with an RBI double by Ronny Paulino. Peavy would then settle down and quiet the Bucs offense until the bottom of the 5th. The Pirates would chase Peavy in this inning getting to him for an additional 5 runs capped off by LaRoche's 26th homerun of the year. That would be all the support Bucs starter John Van Benschoten would need, as he went 7 solid innings only allowing the 1 run on 5 hits. The win helped to extend Pittsburgh's winning streak to 7 games.

Buco Quotes

-----------------------

Jim Tracy:"We have been playing better than the so called experts thought we would all year. Right now we are playing some of our best ball of the season, and I expect us to continue playing this way all season long."

Adam LaRoche"I have no explanation for my stellar play."

Pirates Stay Hot, Win Again

Pittsburgh, PA -- The Pittsburgh Pirates extended their season high 8 game winning streak today, by again scoring early and often on the Padres and ensuring themselves of a series win by beating the Padres 7-3. Padres starter Chris Young lasted 6 innings, but game up 7 runs on 14 hits including bench player Don Kelly's 4th pinch hit home run this season. "I'm not looking to hit a home run when I go up there, I just want to put a good swing on the ball", said Kelly, "Things have just worked out and ever since that first homer in Houston I've been able to consistently come up with big pinch hits." Kelly is hitting .275 off the bench and leads all players with 4 pinch hit home runs. Tom Gorzelanny pitched 6 solid innings for the Pirates as well and allowed just 3 earned runs en route to his 4th victory of the season. Former starter Paul Maholm pitched the final 3 innings to earn his first save of the year and lower his E.R.A. to 4.84.

Buco Quotes

Don Kelly:"Maybe if I keep this up I may be able to get some more playing time" (laughs)

Paul Maholm:"While I'm not thrilled with not being a starter, I'm happy I've been able to come out of the bullpen the past few games and help get my control issues under control."

Giles misplays this Duffy popup that would eventually allow him to score:
