walkinman
I have a problem. My players slide without input from the controller on offense and constantly dive when trying to move them on defense. Also they don't always advance when I use the dpad to do so. So I have to use assisted fielding and hope for the best when base running. Any ideas? I use a wingman rumblepad 11 button wireless. Thanks.
Ticaliano
You probably launched the game with one of the thumb pads or face buttons accidentally in use. Make sure your controller is sitting on a flat surface, preferably facing up, with no wires wrapped around it, then try starting the game. Give that a try and let us know what happens. :)
walkinman
After uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and trying the above suggestion and other configurations, I noticed that the game was listing 5 axis' for my controller. It only has 4, so I chose a generic 11 button 4 axis pad and that fixed things. I had also forgotten that the game doesn't like some functions remapped. Thakns for your assist. utahjazzno12fan
Players uncontrollable?.... Is it Barry Bonds or John Rocker?
walkinman
It's all players on defense and the above didn't fix it after all. It disabled my R joystick so now I have no control over pitch location or player slides, etc. So I have to play in assisted mode if I play. I shouldn't be surprised. It IS an EA product. walkinman
Thanks for the empathy. But a new controller is not in the works. Seems I remember that the controller configuration file could be modified to solve these sorts of problems. I know there are posts about this and I've looked through many but haven't found an answer. Any help?
walkinman
I've tried different drivers, removing all registry and common files related to the rumblepad, tried manually altering the config file various ways an tried several of the generic and other logitech in-game profiles. Either I still end up with diving/jumping players or I lose the function of the right joystick or the d-pad. I plugged in a wired wingman 9 button and had the same problem so I don't think it's the controller. If someone has a working config file for either of these controllers would you post it please? Thanks. :)
Maestro23
I did a keyword search for "wingman controller" and found many posts. Have you seen this one: http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=...controller.html It's a year old, but the last guy that posted in the thread listed some steps to try. Might apply to your controller and it might not. Again, if that doesn't help, take a look at the other threads that come up. Here's a couple. If you have already seen these, then disregard. http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=...controller.html http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=...controller.html http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=...controller.html Good luck. walkinman
Thanks. I finally got it going. I used the logitech calibration removal tool, then plugged it in and windows recognized as before. I calibrated using the windows control panel and presto! I chose it in the game and it works perfectly. Evidently there were some remnants of an earlier install left in the registry. Also, I deleted my profile, dynasty, and game options files in My DocumentsMVP 2005 folder prior to reinstalling the game pad. Thanks for the links. Maestro23
Glad to hear walkinman. Now go enjoy the game.
dutchxperienz
i had this same problem. sometimes it doesnt happen tho, which leaves me nervously anticipating a dive. i went to the control panel -> game controllers -> properties and saw that the computer thought my right analog stick was moving when it was completely still. then i just pressed mode twice and it stopped moving, and that fixed the problem. if the sliding ever happens to u during a game just minimise and follow those steps.
