SprinterFan
Raptor, remember it is not how huge the rock is. Look at the ring clarity makes it worth more than size. My wife ring is a marque (sp?) cut. It is not as large as a friend's who got theirs around the same time but I guarantee my wife's is much nicer due to clarity. I believe your 4 c's are correct but always take clarity over carrats (IMO). As for starting a family ... it is extremely exciting and extremely scary all at one time. carter
I apologize for not responding sooner Raptor, but after reading the 6 pages of this thread it sounds like the well wishes, thoughts, prayers and your constant care have done a whole lot of good for Jessie. I wish her the very best in her recovery -- may it be speedy and as painless as possible. You two sound so perfect for each other. Best of luck in the search for the perfect ring. big shmooz
I know the same feeling you are having as I was in the hospital last week myself. It is important to know that you have someone to care for you. But always remember that G-D loves you & cares for you so in fact you are never alone. Jessie... I pray that you have a full recovery fast.
AstroEric
cost, clarity, carrats, and cut... right? I did that off the top of my head. Close.... It's Color, Clarity, Carats and Cut. --Eric
RaptorQuiz
Thanks Carter and big shmooz for your well-wishes. She really enjoys reading all of these. So if anyone stumbles on to this thread and feels the desire to leave some more kind words - feel free to do so. She is still very early on in her recovery, and every little bit helps, I'm sure. She is finally allowed to leave the house (according to her doctor) since enough of the wounds are beginning to heal, that they are confident that the oral antibiotics and the Polysporin and bandages can ward off any major surface infection. Of all the "road rash" she had - the remaining major "worry spots" are (According to the doctor) the right knee, the right hip, an area on her upper back, and the worst is supposed to be her right shoulder. The shoulder has improved much as far as range-of-motion... but the knee is still a big problem. They want to do further tests after the surface injuries to the knee heal more, so a better examination can be done. They're going to put her in touch with a plastic surgeon who specializes in this kind of thing, because her doctor says while most of them seem to be starting to heal nicely, the shoulder and knee (and to a lesser extent, her back) have a strong chance of scaring (possibly badly). She doesn't seem terribly concerned about this, but I worry she's just putting on a brave face... because we all know how fragile our self-images are, and for a woman who loves to wear tank tops and stuff, if she has major scaring on her upper back and/or shoulder, I can imagine how uncomfortable that would make her. I spend a lot of time telling her how beautiful she is, inside and out, but I know that it matters more what a person thinks of themselves... so while she's tried to tell me that she doesn't want to "waste the money" on a plastic surgeon... I've told her that whatever she wants to do will be fine with me (of course)... but that I would never EVER tell her or make her feel like it was a waste of money to "cosmetically repair" anything she's suffered from this accident. I'm not a supporter of "elective plastic surgeries" of any kind... (i.e. enhancements, etc)... but this is a little different, as far as I'm concerned. But all that kind of stuff will wait until we see what it all looks like as it heals itself. It's hard sometimes, to see her in pain... but she's getting better... and that's all that matters to me. I truly believe (and so does she) that all of the well-wishes and prayers she has received from this on-line community have helped her. So, as I said above, keep 'em coming, if you find the time! RaptorQuiz
Close.... It's Color, Clarity, Carats and Cut. --Eric Bah... I knew that. I think cost was the "fifth C" that some new-fangled website suggest you add to the traditional "4 C's." Well, cost certainly is something you need to keep in mind. clydeli
Hope she feels better as soon as possible. and hope she can be soon "optimistic" and think positive. the accident was like a test, and luckily, you've passed it without paying so much like some others here in Taiwan. you've still got many interesting things to do in the future beautiful days, and the accident is "unable" to stop you from enjoying all these funs. *I'm not a natural English speaker, so hope I didn't say sth. wrong or inappropriate...Best wishes to both you and your girlfriend. That is what love is about. Keep it up Raptor I know she is thankful. Thanks, man! It's been a struggle at times - but all is going well. I just make myself remember how lucky we both actually are, and how much worse she COULD'VE been hurt (or worse than hurt)... and suddenly having to help her do everyday tasks for a little while seems more like a blessing than a "hassle." If anything, all of this has DEFINATELY brought us closer together. Thank you so much for your warm wishes, clydeli! And everything you said was fine - I think your English is better than half of the native-English speakers we have on here. AstroEric
I kid, I kid. I'm 19. Someday I'll make sense of it all. If I was the same person today that I was at 19, I'd be really disappointed with myself. What a difference six years makes. I'm sure I'll say the same thing about 25 in six more years. --Eric

RaptorQuiz
Doesn't insurance pay for the cosmetic surgery? (since this was a vehicular issue) We're not sure yet. We're not even sure it will be neccessary yet. You would like to think insurance should pay to "put you back where you were before the accident" - just like they would a car - but often times "cosmetic" and "surgery" together equals "elective" - and insurance doesn't usually cover something you "elect" to have, rather than "need" to have. There's always going the route of suing the dude who was "driving" the bike as well... but I doubt he has any money to cough up anyway. Bottom line: If she wants it, to feel better about herself, or for whatever reason... I will find a way to make it happen. It's times like these that people that love you gear up for. Its great to see you do this. I did get your message! And so did Jessie! In fact - you are on page 6 (of 11, so far). That means you were in the very first batch she received. Thank you, and everyone else on both MVPmods and EAmods that have been there for Jessie (and for me) in our time of need. RaptorQuiz
Just a little update in case anyone who left well-wishes might still be thinking about us: Jessie is currently on a 4-day vacation with her family (thurs-sun). It was a close-call, she almost didn't get cleared by her doctors to go along, but apparently the major risk for (surface) infection has passed. She managed a few days back at work, before going on vacation... this will be the first day (and following 3 days) I haven't been at her side since the accident. I must admit - she seems to be taking it better than I am. lol. Maybe she needed this vacation from ME - since I've been so protective and worrying about her 24/7 etc. I hope she has a wonderful time and comes back rejuvinated and happy... ...but not TOO happy - I want her to miss me while she's gone. Anyway - I wanted to take this chance to thank each and every one of you that left well-wishes for Jessie and I, or even if you just gave it a moment's thought without actually posting/PM'ing anything. All of the positivity made her feel VERY special and loved... and that is a BIG DEAL where I come from. Thank you all so much for showing some compassion and humanity in a place where we all forget ourselves so often: The Internet. Again: Thank you so much. And, as always, if anyone has any further comments or notes, feel free to leave them here.

RaptorQuiz
Raptor, any new news on Jess? Thank you for you continuing thoughts and concern. She actually has a doctor appointment in the next few days for her knee. The vast majority of the "road rash" is healing, and is much less noticable, except for her shoulder and knee, which (as we all knew from the beginning) bore the worst of the impact. The soreness in the shoulder has improved greatly, reducing the worry of serious internal injury there... but the knee hasn't really improved much at all. I'll be quite annoyed with the doctors if it turns out she's been hobbling around on a torn ligament or broken patella or something, just making it worse, all this time. The areas that will be scarring are beginning to be obvious... there's a big spot on her back that may be a year or two before it's back to "normal"... and I suppose the shoulder and knee may never get back to "perfect." The shoulder, especially, has some nasty scar tissue showing up. We keep it out of sunlight, and keep it moisturized and coco-buttered, but you can only do so much with the kind of deep-tissue injuries she suffered. She is coping with it all really well (better than me, most days)... and all seems to be headed in a very positive direction. We just celebrated her birthday a few days ago - and we had a great time. (Fantastic steaks at this one restaurant - "Coffee Cured Filet Mignon" - hello, amazing). She'll be extremely happy to hear people are STILL keeping her in their thoughts. Thank you all so much for the support you've been continuing to provide - it's meant a great deal to both of us.
