T'was another intense and crazy game for the Royals as they headed to the Motor City to take on the Tigers for the 3rd time this season. Zack Greinke took the hill for the Royals.Greinskskksks.jpg

It was a pitching duel through 8 between Zack Greinke and Kenny Rogers. David DeJesus smacked his second 1st inning homer of the year as the Royals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Greinke held the Tigers scoreless until the 6th when Royals 2B Mark Grudzielanek overestimated a ground ball and dove for it too soon, as the ball got by him.

In the top of the 10th, the game was tied 1-1 when John Buck lined a frozen rope up the middle that scored 3B Alex Gordon after his double in the left Centerfield gap. In the bottom of the 10th, the Tigers' Curtis Granderson struck back by lining a homer into the right field bleachers, tieing the game at 2. Both teams went scoreless until the 12th. Leading off the bottom of the 12th was Tiger's Catcher Ivan Rodriguez. Ivan hit a high fly ball deep to left field, but it was brought back into the park by Royals leftielder Emil Brown

However, right after the amazing game saving catch by Brown, Curtis Granderson and Brandon Inge both lined singles itno left, and Gary Sheffield stepped up, and slammed a GW SIngle into leftfield that was ALMOST snagged by Alex Gordon. The Tigers won the game 3-2.

Remember-keep checking this dynasty to see if a walk-off has been hit. Then do not forget to listen to it on SPorts Radio 810 AM

Another wild one in the Motor City. Odalis Perez came in with a 1.17 ERA going against Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers with a 1.00 ERA. Pitchers deul, I'd say.

Jverlander.jpg

Verlander was able to get some run support from Gary SHeffield who blasted this shot just below the General Motors logo in the beautiful COmerica Park.

Verlander finally surrendered a run when David DeJesus continued his hot streak by follwing up Mark Grudzielanek's double with a double of his own, bringing Mark in.

DeJesusrbidouble2-1.jpg

It was 2-1 in the top of the 9th, with 2 outs and Joel Zumaya on the hill. Royals young phenom BIlly BUtler stepped up. He smashed a fastball deep to the left field corner, Craig Monroe gave it chase and was able to snag it at the wall to end the game, as the Tigers took the game 2-1, building they're AL Central lead over the Royals by 2.0 games.

In Kansas, Relief is not called relief for nothin'

Kansas City, Missouri, 6:10 PM

Despite the Royals 3-Game losing skid, in the grand scheme of things, the team is not perfroming too horribly, especially when it comes to relief pitching. David Riske, Joel Peralta and Jimmy Gobble have all pitched at least 2.0 innings and have not surrendered a run yet. The only missing link for the Royals as of late is run support.

Jimmy Gobble, a young, cheerful and polite guy has done plenty already for the Royals. He said " I'm just out here to do my best, and to help win some ballgames." Now honestly, any so called"relief" pitcher can say that, but you gotta walk the walk to talk the talk, and Gobble is doing just that. Jimmy has only pitched in 1 game, but he went 2.0 strong innings striking out 2 and not surrendering a run. The southpaw Gobble looks to continue his successful ways in the upcoming series versus the Minnesota Twins.

David Riske has not lived up to his last name, due to the fact that he has been performing acceptionally. Riske has appeard in two games, and has not surrendered a run. Joel Peralta, no relation to Jhonny peralta, although born in the same country, has shown extreme talent in his first few outings and also yearns to continue his winning ways.

Transaction Notes

The Royals have sent down SP Brian Bannister to AAA Omaha and have called up SP Ben Hendrickson, who received the AAA pitcher of the month award and recorded an ERA of 2.06 with 27 strikeouts.

Finally, a win. After losing 3 straight games, the Royals came into the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome hungry and eager for a win, and they got it. The Royals were able to tie the game after a Twins lead in the bottom of the second, from a solo blast by 2B Mark Grudzielanek. Jorge de la Rosa was also helped out early with some flashy defense by David DeJesus.

Then in the 4th with a runner on second, Mark Teahen blasted a nearly out of the park double that brought in a runner from second that gave the Royals the lead.

TeahensRBIDOuble.jpg

Rookie 3B Alex Gordon followed Teahen with an almost identical hit that crashed off the wall and brought in Teahen to give the Royals a 3-1 lead.

The Twins eventually tied the game at 4-4 when Billy Butler stepped up to the plate hoping to knock in Emil Brown but Brown has called out at the plate on an EXTREMELY controversial play, and Buddy Bell thought just the same.

Shortly following, EMil Brown was nailed by a fastball and the ump warned both dugouts so nothing would get out of hand.

Alex Gordon, in the 6th, delievered the hit that gave the Royals a permanent 5-4 lead as they took the first game at the dome.

Everybody meet Mr.Ben Hendrickson. Benny made his MLB debut going up against the MLB's best starting pitcher, Johan Santana and the strong Minnesota Twins lineup. However, Hendrickson took the ball with confidence and showed his stuff. This mathup turned into a pitchers duel.

PitcheesDuel.jpg

Hendrickson pitched 8 strong shutout innings in his debut, allowing only 5 hits and got 2 strikeouts. On the flipside, Johan also pitched 8 strong shutout innings allowing 9 hits and recording 3 strikeouts.

Johan was going strong until he beamed Emil Brown with a fastball. This is the second straight game that Brown has been hit.

But what can Brown do for you?

Brown was able to get his revenge on Johan by swiping second right before his very eyes.

wmilbrowngetsrevenge.jpg

The frustration of the lack of hits was showing when Twins manager Ron Gardenhire came out to argue after an umpire said that Alex Gordin's bat did not go through the zone.

twinsmanagergettingintoit.jpg

Hendrickson was helped out with some flashy defense, especially a beautiful diving play by second basemen Mark Grudzielanek.

mgrud.jpg

A player who was highly anticipated to make his debut entered the game to pinch run for Grudzielanek late in the game. He goes by the name of Esteban German, a great contact guy off both lefties and righties, and is as fast as lightning.

EstebeanGermanseasondebut.jpg

The game was scoreless until the top of the 16th, where John Buck sacraficed grounded out, scoring the go ahead run, who was Alex Gordon after he hit a frozen rope double off of Juan Rincon.

Joakim Soria retired the Twins in the bottom of the 16th as the Royals took a thriller at the dome.

What is it about extra innings?

The Royals have played a combined 29 innings over they're last two games, exceeding the minimum amount by 11 innings. A lot of the guys are getting tired and one may wonder when the "extra inning extravaganzas" are going to come to a hault. Well, on with the game recap..

In the top of the second, Royals young rightfielder Mark Teahen stepped up against 100 MPH+ throwing Jose Contreras, and took him yard, continuing the hitting of early game HR's by the Royals.

In the top of the fifth, Mark Grudzielanek connected with the ball and smashed a double into right field, and right after, making his season debut, Royals catcher Jason LaRue singled him in and Grudzielanek almost got thrown out at the plate, but was able to avoid the tag by Pierzynski, giving the Royals a 2-1 lead.

grudbeatstag.jpg

However, the WHite Sox had something ot say about it, when Alex Cintron stepped up to the plate and lined a solo homerun to right field that tied the game.

cintrongametieinghr.jpg

To the top of the ninth we go, where Royals phenom Billy Butler connected with his first homerun of the year, off Bobby Jenks, that was almost robbed by all-star outfielder Jermaine Dye, but the homerun gave the Royals a 3-2 lead.

butlergoahead.jpg

dyetriessohard.jpg

However, in the bottom of the 10th, Royals closer Octavio Dotel came in and got a quick out, until A.J. Pierzynski stepped up and smalled a game tying homer into the left field bleachers. It was Dotel's second blown save of the year. Royals manager BUddy Bell wondered if he should not have put Dotel in.

bellwonders.jpg

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 13th, when second basemen Tadahito Iguchi stepped up to the plate and slammed a 3-Run walk-off shot off David Riske that was 2 inches away from being Emil Brown's second game saving catch, but the White Sox break the Royals hearts and take the game 6-3, you're final in 13 innings.

27 combined hits, with only one run scored is NOT a pitcher's duel. It's an exercise in stranding runners. :)

lol raptor, well you know i mean it was Hendrickson's debut i figure he deserved some sort of recognition haha, and im also trying to keep this dynasty electric and interesting, you know

hows jessie doing? hope shes doing good

This game was a Zack Attack.

ZackAttack.jpg

Welcome to U.S. Cellular Field as the kansas City Royals look to take the victory this afternoon, here in the Windy City.

lineup.jpg

The Royals struck early in the game again as electric shortstop Tony pena J.R. slammed a two run shot over the left field wall to give the Royals an early 2-0 lead

t-pain.jpg

Mike Sweeney came back into the lineup with style as he was able to mash out a double in the ballgame.

Zack Greinke dominated the White Sox lineup, and held them scoreless over 7 innings until the 8th when shortstop Juan Uribe lined a 2-out solo shot into left field, but it would be the only run the White Sox could get.

Tony Pena Jr also backed up Greinke with some outstanding defense. Here's a play that got the slow running Jim Thome, with Pena reaching out and throwing off-balance to get the runner, a Derek Jeter-esk throw for the out.

t-painD.jpg

Jermaine Dye, tired of the effortless play by the WHite Sox, who are 4-8 and sit dead last in the AL Central, stated "It's time we do something for once", before the game and it seems like he got tired of it and got cocky. heres a play where he fields a frozen rope shot by Alex Gordon through the legs barehanded, something I;ve never seen before in MVP07.

dyegetscocky.jpg

Nevertheless, Dye's controversial play was not enough to give the White Sox confidence, as the Royals took the game 6-1.

Greinke threw a complete game, gave up 6 hits and one ER.
