good luck! shouldn't Chacin be on the DL though?

The latest I've heard of Chacin is he'll be back in August, although you're probably right, I'll DL him also and put Janssen in the rotation. I've recalled Brian Wolfe to take his roster spot and he'll throw out of MR for now.

Bonderman Spoils Halladay's Gem in Season Opener

DET 2, TOR 0

04/03/07 - DETROIT - Roy Halladay's complete game 2-run effort went to waste as Detroit's Jeremy Bonderman hurled a shutout at the Blue Jays bats. Halladay threw 8 innings allowing just 2 runs on 8 hits while not allowing a walk and striking out 7 Tigers. Both runs came around to count in the second inning. The Jays only mustered four hits off Bonderman in what seemed to be rust after 3 days off since the last game.

Left: Magglio Ordonez strikes out swinging badly at a cut fastball from Halladay.

Mid: Royce Clayton makes an outstanding diving play and throws from his knees to get Curtis Granderson.

Right: Roy Halladay strikes out Brandon Inge.

Next up

Game two in Detroit: A.J. Burnett takes on last year's AL Rookie of the Year, Justin Verlander.

Tough loss for Halladay. Good luck with this dynasty, I'll be following.

Q: Why is Wells leading off?

Because he is leading off with the real team so I went with that. I'll see how it goes but eventually he'll go back to batting 3rd (or possibly second). Either way, I don't really want Rios leading off or batting in the bottom of the order. With Johnson out, it's either him or Rios leading off right now. It could eventually be Hill. But for right now I'll leave it like that.

Just an update on status of this:

I haven't stopped the dynasty. I had a ton of viruses that I seem to have picked up from the Internet that messed up my Windows badly so I basically had to reformat. Although I backed up my MVP folders. I'm getting the new models.big as I type this and will probably resume it. Those mid-season dyansty saves from Kraw look very intriguing. Having to come back from 10 GB at the ASB might be a more interesting challenge.

Since I haven't played lately, I've had to do some practice yesterday to get my timing back (played 3 exhibition games). I'm almost ready to resume the dynasty and should very soon.

well the old one was last season it wasn't even this season. A while ago I got some viruses and things and lost my old dynasty now I started a new one. Anyway, here's the latest:

Jays rally for gritty come from behind win vs. AL Champs

Final: TOR 3, DET 2 (13)

The game was a pitcher's duel from the start between A.J. Burnett and Justin Verlander. Both pitchers were on their game throughout. Detroit struck first with a pair of runs off Burnett to take a 2-0 lead in the 4th which stayed that way as each pitcher battled through the game with runners on. It came down to the bottom of the top of the ninth with Detroit still holding a 2-0 lead. Verlander was near 100 pitches and seemed to have lost a lot of life on his fastball, opening the door for the Blue Jays. Frank Thomas opened the inning with a lead off single the other way. He was quickly lifted for a pinch runner (Howie Clark) as Verlander was set to face Aaron Hill. After Verlander fell behind 2-1, Hill banged a single right up the middle to put two runners on with none out.

With Verlander up to 99 pitches, Jim Leyland opted to bring his closer Todd Jones. Jones managed to get a bit lucky picking off Aaron Hill at first to get one out. However, Adam Lind quickly followed with a bloop single over the head of Carlos Guillen at short to put runners on the corners for pinch hitter Matt Stairs, who took a one-one offering into the left-center field gap to score both runners and tie the game. He would later be sacrificed to third on a nice bunt from Royce Clayton, but would be left stranded.

Both team pitched extremely well in the extra innings until the 13th (where Todd Jones was still pitching oddly enough). After a Lyle Overbay lead off single, Troy Glaus tripled over the head of center-fielder Curtis Granderson with one out to give the Jays a 3-2 lead, which they held on to to get the victory.

I don't know why the boxscore is all messed up but it didn't record some of the extra innings. Some of the play-by-play is in the wrong order. The part listed as top of 10 is top of 9 which is the most important thing I noticed that was messed up.

Clubhouse Talk

Gibbons: "Rios and Wells are just off to a bit of a slow start. The middle of the lineup is carrying us right now. I don't think I'm gonna do anything at the top right now. Without Johnson, Rios is the only viable leadoff man we have aside from possibly Wells."

Rios: "I think I'm pressing a bit to get some hits. I talked to (hitting coach) Mickey Brantley and he got me to relax a bit and not think too much about it. It seemed to work since I managed to get my first hit later on in the game."

Next up:

Jays head to Tampa to take on the Devil Rays for a 3-game weekend series at Tropicana Field. Scheduled Jays starters will be:

Game 1: Janssen vs. TBA

Game 2: McGowan vs. TBA

Game 3: Halladay (0-1) vs. Kazmir

I actually played this last night and forgot to post the report.

TB 6, TOR 4

Scoring:

Jays 1st: Wells solo HR (1)

Jays 4th: Both Glaus (1) and Hill (1) had solo HRs

Rays 4th: Young RBI double, Harris RBI single

Rays 5th: Iwamura (1), Upton (1) and Crawford (1) go back-to-back-to-back to lead off the inning and chase Janssen

Jays 6th: Wells hits his 2nd solo HR (2) of the game

Rays 7th: Crawford RBI double

Clubhouse talk:

Janssen: "Early on I was getting my pitches over and stayed away from their power but in the middle innings I lost it and everything fell apart for me, especially in the 5th there."

Wells: "I definitely found my stroke today, although it may have been the fact that we faced two similar lefties in back-to-back games."

Dustin McGowan takes on Andy Sonnanstine in the 2nd game of the series.

Dynasty update:

Jason Phillips has been released by the team but I don't really wanna call up Sal Fasano to back up Thigpen at all since Zaun is on the DL so I think I'll keep Phillips as the backup until Zaun is back.

Jays Take Finale in Tampa, Avoid Sweep

Score: TOR 5, TB 3

The Jays put forth a gutsy effort in the series finale in a battle of aces to narrowly avoid a sweep vs. the surprising Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who going into this game had won 4 games in a row after dropping their first game of the season. The Jays opened the scoring in the 3rd on a 2-out basehit from Royce Clayton to score Aaron Hill from 3rd. The lead was short-lived, however, as Tampa rallied to score 3 times on 5 singles in the bottom of the frame and took a 3-2 lead.

Toronto would chip away, getting within one on a Troy Glaus RBI single to score Vernon Wells who led off the inning with a double and later tie in the 6th on a solo home run, also from Glaus. In the 7th inning, Lyle Overbay led off the inning with a solo blast the other way off Scott Kazmir to give the Jays a 4-3 lead. Alex Rios would bring around pinch runner John McDonald on a single to make the lead 2 runs and the Jays would hold on for the victory.

Roy Halladay picked up his first victory of the season despite pitching well enough to win both of his starts to move to 1-1 on the season. He pitched 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and struck out 6 batters. Kazmir's line was similar, also going 7 innings but he had a much rougher outing allowing 5 runs on 8 hits, 1 walk and 3 K's. Jason Frasor closed out the final inning after Scott Downs pitched a perfect 8 innings for his 3rd save of the season in as many chances.

WP: Halladay (1-1)

LP: Kazmir (0-2)

SV: Frasor (3)

HR: Glaus (2), Overbay (2)

Boxscore: http://dynasties.mvpmods.com/boxscores//us...07jays/TOR6.htm

From the nest:

Gibbons: "I'm gonna ride the hot-hand right now in left and that's Matt Stairs for now. Which means Lind will have to ride the bench. If it gets to a point where he's not playing enough and we feel that's stunting his development we might have to send him down. As far as the lineup situation, I'm gonna go with Rios in the 2-hole for the next few games and Royce (Clayton) will probably lead off. It worked out pretty well today and might get them both going."

Next up:

The Jays head home for their home opener vs. the Kansas City Royals. It's expected to be a sold out crowd. The Jays went 3-3 on their 6-game roadtrip through Detroit and Tampa Bay to open the season, although it was mostly the offense's inability to score runs with runners in scoring position that cost them in the losses.

Burnett spins shutout in home opener

TOR 4, KC 0

A.J. Burnett threw a shutout as the Jays took the home opener over Kansas City to move one game over .500 on the season (4-3). He allowed 6 hits, struck out 8 and walked just one in the outing to improve to 1-0 on the season. Aaron Hill hit his 2nd homer of the season to back Burnett while Royce Clayton, Vernon Wells and Troy Glaus each drove in a run.

Jays drop middle game vs. KC

KC 3, TOR 1

The Jays struggled to hit with runners in scoring position and it proved costly in a 3-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals which squared both teams records at 4-4. The best of example of this was in the seventh inning when both Alex Rios and Vernon Wells were on second and third with no outs and the Jays only managed to score Rios on a sacrifice fly from Matt Stairs. That ended up being the lone run of the game for the Jays. Shaun Marcum pitched much better than his line shows allowing all 3 runs on 14 hits over 7 1/3 innings. To his credit, the majority of the hits were weak grounders that just got through the infield. Marcum fell to 1-1 with the loss.

http://dynasties.mvpmods.com/boxscores//us...07jays/TOR8.htm

From the nest

Ricciardi: "We're going over some things with the coaches but you may see some big changes. There's a possibility that we might call someone up to shake up the lineup a little bit, although it might not happen until Detroit comes in on the weekend. The bottom of the lineup is basically a black hole right now and we gotta get some production from there. The entire lineup as a whole as been inconsistent which is why we're scuffling around .500."
