Series Preview Indians (10-4) @ Rays (8-8)

Matchups:

Game 1: J Westbrook (2-0, 2.61) vs L Williams (0-0, 3.98)

Game 2: C Lee (2-0, 4.15) vs M Drogalis (2-1, 1.61)

Game 3: F Carmona (1-0, 1.93) vs Z Neal (2-1, 1.13)

The Rays are at .500 and will look to propel themselves above the barrier for the first time this year as the AL Central leading Indians come to the Trop. Pitching will be the key this series with the starters combining for only two losses and the highest ERA amongst them being 4.15.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

D-Rays Starters: If the starters can hold the Indians to as few runs as possible, the Rays have a good chance.

I'm going all Scott Proctor and burning up my glove. Give me a new black one, please!

Yeah, I thought that the Proctor thing was funny, and if it helps you then so be it.

Rays return the favour in Game 2 vs Indians.

8 out of 9 Rays starters had hits and the Rays belted Cliff Lee for 5 runs on 8 hits and drawing 6 walks in 3 and one third innings as the Rays routed the Indians 8-2.

The Rays jumped out of the gate, scoring 3 runs on a HFLR RBI single and then back-to-back bases loaded walks to Michael Sandoval and Dave Pudge.

They tacked on 2 more in the 3rd with Matthew Polites and Michael Haylock hitting bases-loaded singles to extend the lead to 5-0.

The Indians rallied in the 4th and 5th with solo HRs to Victor Martinez and Casey Blake.

If there was any doubt over the Rays bullpen and a 3-run lead, it was erased with a 3-run shot to Mickey Stedfunk in the bottom of the 8th to put the game out of reach.

W: Drogalis (3-1) L: Lee (2-1)

NOTABLE RAYS PERFORMERS:

M Stedfunk: 1-4 HR (3) 3 RBIs

M Haylock 2-4 RBI

H HFLR 2-3 RBI

Series ends with tough loss to Indians.

The Rays had plenty of hits, but couldn't get the runners across the plate as they lost 3-1 to the Indians in the finale.

The Rays were on the board first with Chris Kelvarr's single scoring Mickey Stedfunk.

From then on it was all one-way traffic. Travis Hafner belted an RBI double in the 3rd. Delluci hit a solo HR in the 5th, and Hafner added a home run of his own in the 6th.

Zac Neal pitched ok, but it was not his best outing, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.

The Rays will have to be on their game when the Yankees come to town next. They are 0-3 against New York this year.

W: Carmona (2-0) L: Neal (2-2) S: Cabrera (3)

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

L Zeta 3-5

M Sandoval 2-4

C Kelvarr 1-3 RBI
