It seemed that a pitchers duel was on offer with the only scoring in the first 5 innings being Mickey Stedfunk's homer in the 4th. The homer was absolutely crushed, the longest HR hit by a Ray this year, measuring 422 ft.

That's debatable! My HR to Center only stopped because the restaurant got in the way! :biglaff:

I was surprised to see that I lead the team in batting, slugging and HR. And an OPS of over 1.000 to boot!

That's true, I guess you could never know where that one was going to land.

RAYS NEWS: GAME 1 IN ANAHEIM POSTPONED.

Rain has postponed Game 1 of the series in Anaheim, a day-night doubleheader is set for tomorrow.

This is not the best scenario for the Rays who may see a loss of momentum, and will have to leave Anaheim later in the evening to arrive in Oakland for the following day's game.

Homers bother Rays again.

The Angels beat the Rays 2-0 on two solo homers in Game 1 of the day-night double header at Angel Stadium.

Orlando Cabrera and Casey Kotchman homered in the 4th and 5th respectively.

Williams pitched well for 7 innings but received no run support.

Catcher Chris Kelvarr will sit in the night-cap following an 0-4 game in the opener.

Homers lead Rays over Yankees.

The Rays defeated the New York Yankees 5-0 tonight for the first win against the team from the Bronx this year.

It seemed that a pitchers duel was on offer with the only scoring in the first 5 innings being Mickey Stedfunk's homer in the 4th. The homer was absolutely crushed, the longest HR hit by a Ray this year, measuring 422 ft.

Jason Blizzard turned in his 2nd consecutive excellent performance, throwing 7 and 1/3 innings of shutout ball before turning it over to the 'pen to shut the game down.

Johnluke Chaparro added a 3 run shot in the 6th after Lambda Zeta had tripled home a run and Stedfunk had walked.

W: Blizzard (2-2) L: Pavano (1-3)

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

M Haylock 2-4

L Zeta 2-4 RBI

M Stedfunk 1-4 HR (4)

JL Chaparro 2-4 2B, HR (4)

Rays pour it on in night-cap to split doubleheader.

The Rays produced hit after hit against Kelvim Escobar and Darren Oliver as the Rays scored 7 runs to beat the Angels 7-1.

But the win came at a cost, with Mike Drogalis dislocating his finger after 4 and 1/3 innings of 2 hit ball, and will likely miss his next start. But the Rays were in capable hands, with long relief man Brendan Lago replacing Drogalis pitching no-hit ball until one out in the 9th, when he surrendered a home-run to Juan Rivera, prompting his removal from the game. Lago will fill the shoes of Drogalis, making the start in Minnesota next week.

The Rays just batted the runners around with quite possibly their best performance of 2007. There were RBI singles to Ronnie Reyes and Dave Pudge in the 3rd, and one in the 6th to Andrew Wright. Reyes also hit an RBI double in the 8th. Johnluke Chaparro and Michael Sandoval had sacrifice flies, in the 8th and 3rd innings respectively.

W: Lago (1-1) L: Escobar (2-1)

NOTABLE RAYS PERFORMERS:

L Zeta 3-5

M Sandoval 2-3 RBI

JL Chaparro 3-4 2 RBIs

R Reyes 2-5 2 RBIs

D Pudge 2-5 RBI

A Wright 2-4

B Lago W, 4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0BB
