rambo
Power bats lead Rays in rout of Texas The Rays needed to avoid an embarrasing sweep at the hands of the Rangers and they did just that, blasting 4 long balls in an 8-0 victory. rambo
Marlins win see-saw affair. Several lead changes in the last 3 innings saw the Marlins come out on top 6-5 in the series opener. Florida led 3-0 after runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings of an ineffective Lucas Williams, who left after 4 innings. Chris Kelvarr hit his 7th homerun leading off the 4th to put the Rays on the board. The scoreboard stayed the same until the 7th when Max Nealsbro and Michael Haylock received back-to-back bases loaded walks to tie the game. Mickey Stedfunk then singled to give the Rays their first lead of the ball game. The lead disappeared in the 8th with Scott Moore serving up a nice fastball which Mike Jacobs took out for a 2-run homerun. The 5-4 Florida lead didn't last long, with Michael Sandoval hitting a homer off Taylor Tankersley in the 8th to sew it back up, but Alfredo Amezaga's homer in the 9th off of Moore sealed the deal as Kevin Gregg retired the side in the 9th. The Rays led 3-0 after 3 via a Johnluke Chaparro RBI single and Lambda Zeta's 2-run double, but the Fish hit 4 homers off of Drogalis going to Jeremy Hermida, Alfredo Amezaga, Hanley Ramirez and Josh Willingham. to make the lead 6-3. Hermida added his 2nd homer in the 7th off Lago and Mike Jacobs hit an RBI single in the 9th to make it 8-3. Drogalis left after 5 innings, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits. rambo
Marlins take down hapless Rays for sweep The Rays could only manage 1-run in support of a tremendous 8 inning outing by Zac Neal and a 9th inning 2-run homer to Miguel Cabrera was the difference with the Marlins completing the sweep 3-1. Dan Uggla homered in the 1st off of Neal who allowed only 3 more hits in his 8 innings of work. Andrew Wright hit a sacrifice fly for the Rays only run. The usually solid Ben DeCoste struggled, giving up a single to Uggla who was followed by Cabrera with the homer. Chris Kelvarr notched his 3rd hit of the night with a two-out single in the 9th but Michael Sandoval grounded out to end it.
