John Maine was looking to end his pitching woes, while Hector Carrasco was making his first start of the season for the Nationals. The Nats jumped on Maine early with a RBI Single by Austin Kearns. But with Reyes and Beltran after Base hits, David Wright slammed a 3-run homer the opposite way to give the Mets a 3-1 lead, John Maine went 7 fantastic innings only allowing 1 run, while Carrasco only lasted 5. This was a game they should have won. The Mets attacked first with a solo homer by Reyes. The Mets would get 2 more runs after. Then after a sac fly, Dimitri Young hits a bomb into the right field bullpen to tie it up. Then Beltran hits number 19 to give the Mets a 5-3 lead. The Nats scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, including a 3-run homer that went right over Milledge's glove to make it a 9-5 game. The Mets and the Nationals played the rubber game of a 3 game series today. The Mets attacked first with a 2-run homer by David Wright, But the Nationals would score 3 after a Austin Kearns 3-run bomb to give the Nationals the lead. Then newly acquired Jeff Conine hits a 2-run bomb that just made it fair. Then after a Felipe Lopez double with men on, Nick Johnson hit a sac fly, to give the Nats the lead. And it was only the 2nd inning. After a Shawn Green double and a Marlon Anderson single, Jeff Conine did it again with a sac fly to tie it up. Then in the 5th, after an Austin Kearns triple, Brian Schnieder singled to give the Nats the lead. Oliver Perez lasted 4 innings, while Patterson went 7. It kwpt going back and fourth until Jeff Conine hit a 3-run Home Run, his second of the game to give the Mets a 10-7 lead. The D-Train went for the Marlins as Jorge Sosa made an emergency start for John Maine and the Mets. The Marlins jumped on Sosa for 6 runs. The Marlins Bullpen couldnt hold it as Reyes (Twice), Green, Wright went deep.
