Players vanishing once signed?

So I'm in the middle of an A's dynasty 1st season when I go to the Free Agency list and notice right at the top is top 100 prospect Dellin Betances. He asks for 3 years at just over a million to be a AAA starter, which I'm cool with, so I sign him. Suddenly he's no longer on any of my rosters. I go back to the free agency list and he registers as being with my AA team, but when I go to edit the rotation, check the organizational depth chart, even make a trade, he's not there. Luckily, I had saved just before I made that signing, so I loaded up the pre-signing trade, ignored him and went on.

A couple of game-days later, the ticker says that the Marlins signed him. So I go to their rosters, and sure enough, he's not there. But I figured that at least he was no longer on the FA list, so I didn't care if Florida wasted a million a year for a non-existant player.

Now, it's been about 2 game months, and Betances is suddenly, inexplicably back on the FA list. I signed him again to the same contract and once again he disappeared.

What gives?

He could be suspended. That happened to me in one of my dynasty's, the Angels dropped Jered Weaver and I signed him and he was suspended for 5 games.

Yea, but wouldn't he show up on your rosters.

He definitely wasn't on the DL, I checked there. Once I sign him the only place he exists is on my AA team's roster when I'm on the Free Agency screen. I can release him again, but that's it. He's not on on the trade screen's roster, not on the depth chart, not listed in the stats page, not in the pitching rotation screen, nowhere except the FA screen.

I've got like 8 million in the bank and I don't expect to be landing a big fish any time during the rest of the season, so I guess I can sign him again and see if he will magically appear after a few days. If he does, that's not a regular thing, because I signed another pitcher at the same time as Betances and the other guy was right where he was supposed to be immediately.
