superdee
Hello guys... let me start by saying that I am nearly complete with my datafile that has taken a greater part of 1.5 years to now... In any event, I would like to know which lines or line effect the pitching meter and its level of difficulty. I did an extensive search on the forums but really could not find the answer... What might help would be if you posted the MVP 07 mod line, because I need that line but am not sure where it is... Also want to know if it is possible to not have any green(perfect) spot to hit. Thanks in advance...

B_ballplaya_05
So I don't get it, what do you need to get to change the pitching meter. Do you need to download a certain program or what? I'm trying to extend the pitching meter from what it is right now. The datafile that I have has it set up to where it's really small and I can't even get a strike out while allowing a whole lot of hits to the cpu. B_ballplaya_05
Anyone, plz? I'm really trying to fix this but as of right now I'm not sure what to do besides adding some pluses to the User pitching meter difficulty and lowering the user pitching difficulty. I've actually tried this but it hasn't helped. The meter is still small and I can't seem to get any strikeouts at all.
big shmooz
Superdee... 0x739c0a96 233<batterpitcher> This is the section you need to adjust. B_ballplaya... There is a program that you use to open the datafile so it can be edited. It's called DFComutil. You can find it on the website here. Instructions on how it is to be used are included. B_ballplaya_05
Thanks so much for the help. Umm do you know anything about that program. Is it difficult to use? Umm, can I find it by searching the downloads? I'm guessing yes lol.
B_ballplaya_05
Actually Big shmooz, I just searched for DFComutil and I couldn't find it here. Any other place that I can get it from?

It explains in detail as to what each line in the datafile means. You can use this as a base to edit your datafile to your liking. http://www.mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=2935.html
B_ballplaya_05
Well redsox, I have mvp 2005 converted to 2007. I tried that site you gave me, but once i downloaded the program and tried running it, it is asking for this file gfxpak.exe, saying it doesn't exist. That's very strange. I'm not sure what to do now. :(
redsox
There is a gfxpak in the download section. Search for it and I think you should be able to get a result. Insert that into your folder and see if that fixes anything.
Maestro23
Also... Just to add on to what redsox posted: RRodkey's Datafile Tutorial: http://www.mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=161.html Snepp's Datafile.txt Layout spreadsheet: http://www.mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=149.html *Never can have too much reading material... *Can also use eazip to compress/uncompress a datafile. Runs from a Dos prompt in Windows. eazip: http://www.eamods.com/index.php?name=Downl...e=details&id=
B_ballplaya_05
I downloaded the gfxpak but there's no way to put that over in the dfcomputility, well not that I could see a way right now. I've tried it but no luck so far. Im not sure if that's what you meant exactly, but i also tried putting the gfxpak.exe to the mvp/datafile folder. That didn't do anything either. AHH, I'm exhausted from all of this. I'm going to bed. I'll be back tomorrow to see if I can get some more help. Later all!
redsox
You place it in the folder that you extracted the compress utility to.
B_ballplaya_05
Ah man that's funny. I just did that Sox lol. I extracted the computil to the desktop and then extracted the gfxpak to the folder where the computil is at. Umm, it didn't do anything when I tried running computil. :(
redsox
Well, you kinda need to place the datafile in that folder as well. When you run the program, it should take that datafile.txt and create a datafileEdit.txt. You can open up that created file using any text editor (I usually use WordPad). The best place to put the gfxpak.exe file is in your windows folder. Then it will work with any file that it needs to work with in the future. As Redsox explained, put the dfcomputil.exe file in the data folder. (that's where your datafile.txt file is located)
Cavicchi
In my experience, I received a message from the dfcomputil utility that MVP Baseball 2004/Data could not be found. I created a new folder named MVP Baseball 2004 (alongside MVP Baseball 2005) and created another folder Data to put inside it. I then extracted the dfcomputil utility and gfxpak to the Data folder within MVP Baseball 2004 and placed the datafile.txt there as well, and I found this works! B_ballplaya_05
OK, this is really starting to bug me now. I extracted the DFCOMPUTIL.EXE and the GFXPAK.EXE into the datafile folder in the mvp 2005 folder and still it keeps telling me that gfxpak.exe isnt found. WTF is the problem now? You're extractiong it to the wrong folder. I said the DATA folder, NOT the DATAFILE folder. Also, the best thing is to extract gfxpak to the WINDOWS folder. (though it will also work if it's in the same folder as the one you are working with)
B_ballplaya_05
Well dude, I'm hearing great things about Kumala's latest Datafile, which I extracted to the folder that contains the datafile.big file. I guess that's the datafile folder. Anyway I'm going to give that a shot and keep playing my season where I'm 21-8 . I'm also going to use Hoop27's Allstar sliders as well. Hopefully, adding some + on the pitching meter will solve my pitching problem. Thoughts?

I told you before, you are extracting the files to the wrong place. It does not belong in the datafile folder. Read my above post & trust me. I have worked on this game. I have even made a datafile that I uploaded to this site for people to download & use.

I have even made a datafile that I uploaded to this site for people to download & use. But the problem is the DFCOMPUTIL.EXE. When I extracted it to the Data folder, it would not work because it looked for MVP Baseball 2004. I created another folder MVP Baseball 2004 and created another folder Data placed inside it and put in the gfxpak and datafile.txt and it worked. Note: The MVP Baseball 2004 folder I created was placed next to the MVP Baseball 2005 folder.
B_ballplaya_05
Ok so where should I put KUMALA's Datafile then in order to use it? I don't care about changing the datafile, I just want to use that one and I'll just adjust my sliders dude. Can you help me out there? Is the file supposed to go to the folder with Datafile.big or where should I extract it so that it can work on the game?
