Pitching Meter in datafile

Yeah you are right dude, it is like learning it over again because well I'm so used to playing on pro so now it's like a big step up. What's a good way of reading pitches. I've really had a hard time doing this. That's why i swing at some many throws like an idiot. I was getting smothered by a pitcher for the Marlins who I never even heard of, Olson's his name. He has like 5.5 era with average of over .300 that he gives up. I couldn't do **** so far when I tried playing. The game froze and it closed out however. It's talking about mvp2005.exe has encountered a problem and it needs to close. I don't know why it's doing that again. I think I have the right stuff installed in there. I'm using UR 8.4 Plus edition in there.

Well, if you really want a way to read pitches, you can tell by looking at the color of the ball as it leaves his hand. But I find that it's not that hard to read pitches in this game. You really are able to tell the break of the ball as it's coming toward you. Just keep concentration. I am not saying you're not going to misread on ocassion, but overall it is possible to see the break (or non break) of the pitches.

In regard to your freezing, there can be multiple reasons for that. It can do with a cyberface that the game is looking for & it's not there. It can do with an overlay. There are other possibilities too such as your video card overheating. It can also have to do with a memory issue on your computer. It can even have to do with other software interfering with the game software.

A good tool to check the models.big and portrait.big files is bigGUI. You can use that to make sure there are no cyberfaces or portrait files that need to be compressed, which is one reason for crashes, such as that error message you get: mvp2005.exe has encountered a problem and it needs to close

Hmm, so when it comes to batting, you can actually view the type of a pitch it is by color. Wow, I guess I missed that one hahah. As for the game crashing, well I'm not sure what you mean by the portraits and cyberfaces, but i did approach some players that have faces that don't look normal. I've had this problem with the game before, but it was the whole Standard version and Plus version of the Roster. I was using the wrong one, but now I'm not sure. As for the bigGUI, how are you supposed to use it? There are on instructions for it, or at least I don't see any in the file that I downloaded. Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

i used biggui it dint open notpad or wordpad it showed the txt files in bigGui

1. Use BigGUI to open the datafile.big

2. Find the datafile.txt

3. Export it to somewhere and save it.

4. Open it up in your favorite text editor.

5. Use the "search or find" option to find the line you want to make changes to.

6. Make all the changes you want.

7. Once done, import the datafile.txt back into the datafile.big

8. Compress the datafile.txt

9. Rebuild the datafile.big

*Don't think I missed any steps. If I have, someone please chime in.

is there like a default datafile or close to a default datafile in the download section?

If you want to edit someone else's datafile.txt, then you first have to uncompress it with a program like eazip or dfcomputil. Open it up in a text editor, make your changes then save it. Then you have to re-compress it.

As far as a datafile close to the default one in 07, I'm not sure. There are a bunch of datafiles in the Downloads section though. I'm currently using Kumala's latest one with a few camera edits I found in another datafile.

My advice, d/l one and try it out.

If your talking about the "inner" workings of his datatfile, don't know man. You would have to talk to him about that. That's his baby.

Maestro, excellent step by step procedures. Fixed my datafile to a larger pitch meter, which actually makes 07 more enjoyable

Good deal man. Glad it helped someone.

LUNASONICA - posting multiple times in a row is usually considered "bumping" your post... and that is considered against the rules on this site. Considering you waited until the next day, this isn't AS big of a deal... but let's not make a habit of it, ok?

As for your question... I'm pretty sure you're asking if there is a way to COMPLETELY REMOVE the pitch meter? If this is NOT what you're asking, I may not understand your question. Using the sliders in-game (and downloading datafiles from our download section) can alter the realism of the pitch-meter... as for removing it completley - I don't have an answer for you there.

I'm really not sure what the problem is, but there's a huge lack of homeruns in my games. Well, for me at least. When I make a mistake, I usually get punished with a big hit, or a homerun in many cases. I can't seem to hit many homeruns myself though. The only guy who's been great for me so far is Berkman. I've hit many with him, but no one else has stepped up. Can anyone give me some advice on this plz? I've adjusted the slider for User Power, but that hasn't helped me much. Am I supposed to hold Up on the Analog stick at all times hoping for a big hit or what?
