Tattoos

Just wondering how many people like tattoos as a personal interest and all the in's and out's, how many you have, favorite designs, pictures of your own and recommendations of good artists etc.

I find Tattoos personally awesome. It's often a solid conversation starter. I have ONE on my right forearm, and I plan to turn it into an armband in the near future, and eventually have one on my left wrist with the hebrew phrase "×ֲרִי×ֵל", which means "Lion of God" as my name is Ariel and I feel it's something significant. My first tattoo was from the flipbooks in the tattoo shop, and it will be the last tattoo I will ever have off a flipbook and will ever have on impulse.

I haven't gotten any tats since then because after I got it I realized that getting one requires a lot of thinking and research....and on top of that, having a unique tattoo is great and it lets you know it's completely YOURS.

Yes, I am aware of the social stigma with tattoos, where it can prevent you from having a job, but if you do some research and have the tattoo done in a good area, you can find any job you want.. In my case, I'll have to wear long sleeves a majority of the time, but I can accept that so I don't have a problem with it.

If they are tasteful and done well, there is nothing wrong with women with tattoos. On a side note, I only approve of getting somebody's name tattooed on your body if they are dead, or your child. It's ok to get your daughter's face on your arm or your son's footprint or name or whatever. Your girlfriend? You sir, fail.

Anyone else have any tattoos?

I want to get one that goes from my wrist to my elbow. Its going to have the first four letters of my last name with a vine going up and around it.

I have no tattoos KC because I am afraid of the pain.

Some areas hurt more than others, but pain is temporary. It starts to hurt but you get used to the pain and may actually start to enjoy it after about 20 minutes or so. It hurts less when you concentrate on other things, when you're focused on something else while your artist is doing his job.

Then again, all of us have different pain thresholds. Not all of us are Carl Pavanos. :)

I have a design I created myself that is located between my shoulder blades (no color). It extends up towards the back of my neck but it remains completely covered by wearing a simple t-shirt and/or dress shirts.

I will say this. The pain wasn't as bad as I expected, except the two hours spent directly on my spine. That tickled a little. :biglaff:

My next tattoo will be of my fraternity's crest from college. Three of my fraternity brothers and I are approaching our 5 year mark of graduation and we plan to get the crest and our Greek letters done. I plan on putting mine on my upper arm (near the shoulder).

Also, my fiance has 3 small tats (back, side of stomach, top of foot). She said that the one on top of the foot was the worst pain in the world.

No tattoos, but I love the art on some of them. If there was something meaning ful enough for me to put on my body permanantly I would. I just don't have anything.

My buddy at work has one around his bicep of this:portfolio_wtwta4b.jpg

It is amazing.

My wife has a ladybug on her ankle that i forget about all the time.

I'm just happy that I didn't get the tattoo I had an appointment to get...

...$380 for "U.S. ARMY" across the shoulder blades, as if it was a jersey-name, in "block, stencil" font... and I was set to get it 1 day before my graduation from Army Basic Training... but I was hurt 2 days before that...

...otherwise I would've been looking at a painful reminder for my whole life.

I'm thinking about a tattoo on my left shoulder on Tuesday..

I turn 18 on Tuesday, so it becomes legal in Illinois....(still cant get a tat under 18 even WITH parental consent)...

Ill get in trouble if I get caught though...

Anyone got specific ideas?

I'm thinking about branding myself a loser with the Chicago Cubs "C"

Or possibly a Z on my right shoulder and an N on the left for my initials...

any other thoughts?

I attached a file of the tattoo that I've been working on for the past couple months by taking different pics I've liked and piecing them together. I'm working for at least a half sleeve to begin with. And yes, I am man enough to have flowers on me, lol.

I got my first a last year. I had the Cubs' walking bear logo done on my upper arm. Tattoo City in Lockport IL is excellent. 130 bucks plus tip for 1-1/2 hours of work. As for the pain, it's over-rated. Really didn't feel much at all. As for going in buzzed, a reputable shop won't work on you, and alcohol thins your blood, and you'll bleed more.

Ive been planing on getting this tatted on my forearm, but I'm not a fan of needles.

gosh, i sure hope NO ONE is a fan of needles :) but i get what you're talking about. really, it doesn't hurt THAT bad...just a few times here and there it might hurt more than others. for the most part, you do get used to it. the hardest part is just sitting there still for so long.
