You click on the current player portrait in MVPEdit, choose the new BMP file and the alpha image and hit OK. The portrait should be updated.

thanks. i did it and it worked fine. a couple of questions - it seems as though all of the portraits in mvp edit are 256 x 256. i installed some of the photo mods i downloaded and they look great. when i download photos from mlb.com, the pictures look great in their original size 92 x something and look very sharp. when i change them to 256 x 256 bmp and put them into mvp edit, the faces are wider, not very sharp, and don't look nearly as good even though i'm saving them as 'keep aspect ratio' when i change them. am i supposed to use a different resolution? also, i couldn't change any of the portraits into the game without the alpha image or if the old alpha image was different. how do i creat the alpha images?

use this :

http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=...s+snapshot.html

you'll be able to get higher quality photos to use for the portraits. most portraits now are 2x (256x256), but we used to use 128x128 also.

follow this link to show you how to make a portrait, which tells you how to make an alpha. http://www.eamods.com/index.php?name=Forum...rtrait+tutorial

once you're comfortable with understanding how to do one, you can do it however you wish. just make sure that the alpha is an 8-bit greyscale image. you may also want to pick up kraw's portrait maker and TiT to install them, which really makes it quicker.

thanks homer, i sure appreciate it. i'll give it a try. i went to mlb.com and the player photos are nice and sharp and are in 92 x 135 jpg format. i changed them to 256 x 256 bmp format and that's when they really looked flattened out. i forgot to mention that in my original post. if i keep that same 92 x 135 resolution, will they install in mvp edit and into the game or do i need to stay with 256 x 256?

It will be better to use a pressbox photo of the player to create a portrait. The resolution is well over 1000x1000. It should provide you with some great quality snapshots. Use the link provided above to learn how to grab the pics.

Also, I believe the portraits can be only one of two sizes: 128x128 (1x) or 256x256 (2x)

yeah, just use that link i posted, it shows you how to get the pressbox photos. then use kraw's tutorial to make your portrait. it should show you to resize it to 256 x 256 or 128 x 128, whichever you prefer.

homer, i accessed the link you provided. it looks good, but i can't seem to access the link it shows to get to the main page that shows the player ids. the links show a player id number to bring up the player's photo, but where do i get the player ids? i tried www.mlb.com/pressbox/photos/headshots_players_coaches and i've also tried www.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb and that didn't come up. the 1st one comes up when i type in the player's id after the link and i realize i can change the player id number to bring up another page, but i don't have a player id index. i searched all through mlb.com and i searched for players on that site, but the player info didn't give any id number

go to the roster section of the team site and click on your player. then when that page loads, look at the address bar. the player id is in there. copy that id and paste it into the pressbox link to where it should be. that should do it.
