robbyankees092
2007 Starting Lineup CF #18 Johnny Damon Damon is entering his 2nd season with the Yankees. Coming to the Yankees turned out to be quite good for him,as the short porch in right field helped him hit a carerr high 24 homers. SS #2 Derek Jeter The Yankee Captain finished 2nd in the AL MVP voting in 2006 to Twins first baseman Justin Morneau, but that dosen't slow him down. Jeter looks to have an even better 07 season. RF #53 Bobby Abreu Bobby Abreu was acquired on July 30th of the 2006 season. Once again right field proved to be helpful to lefties as Abreu hit 7 homers with the Yankees in his time there. Now entering his 1st full year with NY he will look to imporve his power numbers and help lead this team to the post season. 3B #13 Alex Rodriguez All eyes are on A-Rod this year as he enters what could be his final season in pinstripes. A-Rod can opt out of his contract this year and become a free agent. A-Rod struggled once again in the playoffs last year, but looks to improve this year. DH #25 Jason Giambi Giambi proved that he still has great power as he lead the team with 37 bombs last year. After the Yankees signed Gold Glover Doug Mientkiewicz Giambi has become the full time DH where his bat can do the talking. LF #55 Hideki Matsui We didn't see much of Matsui last year because of his injury early in the season, but Matsui will look to rebound this year, and put his talent to good use. C #20 Jorge Posada The Yankee catcher is entering yet another season with the Yankees. No matter how old he is Posada seems to get better, and better every year. Look for him to do the same this year. 2B #24 Robinson Cano After Cano suffered an injury last year,he came back, and finished 3rd in the AL in batting average. Cano has turned into an all around ball player in his shrot carerr. 1B #11 Doug Mientkiewicz The Yankees signed the gold glover not for offense, but for defense. Giambi's defense was not good enough, and they didn't have a good replacement in the minors. Hopefully he can bring his defensive excellence to the Bronx. robbyankees092
2007 Bench 1B #12 Andy Phillips Andy showed a little promise last year with the Yanks, and it was good enough to earn him a spot on the starting roster. C #26 Wil Nieves The Yankees invited veteren Todd Pratt to spring training, but did not make the starting team. Nieves was the only other replacement for Posada. IF #41 Miguel Cairo Miguel Cairo is a great backup. He can play the entire infield except catcher, and also the outfield. OF #28 Melkey Cabrera Cabrera showed great promise last year filling in for Matsui, and Sheffield. He is an excellent player to have as a backup, and could even be a starter soon. robbyankees092
2007 Starting Rotation #40 Chein-Ming Wang Finishing 19-6,and 2nd in the Cy Young voting Wang easily earned the #1 spot in the rotation in 2007. #46 Andy Pettitte The Yankees signed back old friend Andy Pettitte after he went to the Astros in 2004. He would spend 3 years with them until coming back to the bronx #35 Mike Mussina Moose proved that he can still pitch at 37 years old posting up great numbers, and keeping him here in NY. #29 Kei Igawa He isn't Daisuke Matsuzaka, but Kei Igawa had an excellent carerr in Japan. Let's hope he can do the same in America. #45 Carl Pavano In his first 2 seasons Pavano suffered injuries. He has only made 17 starts in his Yankee carerr, and they were all in 2005. Pavano did not start in 2006 as he suffered a season ending injury. He looks to stay healthy here in 2007. 2007 Bullpen CL #42 Mariano Rivera Rivera has always been the most feared pitcher in the Yankees bullpen. Nothing different this year. SU #43 Scott Proctor Proctor has earned the set up role because of his performance last year. SU #48 Kyle Farnsworth Farnsworth's performance in 2006 was rather dissapointing,he will look to rebound here in 07. MR #33 Brian Bruney The young hard throwing Bruney showed some good stuff last year, and hopes to do even better in 07. MR #52 Luis Vizcaino Coming to the Yankees in the Randy Johnson trade, the Yankees hope that Vizcaino could be a valuable asset in the bullpen this year. MR #36 Mike Myers The side armer pitched ok in 2006. Although he did go 1-2,his ERA was in the low 3's,and that is good for his age. LR #58 Jeff Karstens The Young Karstens has enough in his tank to be a quality bullpen worker for the Yankees in 2007.

robbyankees092
Rocket a Yankee Again? March 30,2007 -- ESPN.com Roger Clemens pitched for the Yankees from 1999-2003,and helped them win 2 championships(1999-2000) Rumors have been flying around that Roger Clemens could come back to the Yankees this year. The Rocket was traded to the Yankees from the Blue Jays in 1999 for David Wells,Graham Lloyd, and Homer Bush. The Rocket pitched with NY from 1999-2003,and won the only 2 rings of his carerr. The Yankees aren't the only team that the Rocket is interested in. There are 2 other teams the Houston Astros where he pitched from 2004-2006,and the Boston Red Sox where he spent most of his carrer. Clemens will turn 45 this year.
