wolfy6finger
After five months of shoulder rehab (I had no use of the shoulder because of surgery), I'm finally reviving this dynasty now that I can actually move my arm and play MVP again. This will be a 2005 St. Louis Cardinals Dynasty, which I have started and restarted many times because of the great mods at MVPmods (although I'm not using the 2007 mod). wolfy6finger
My first suggestion? Trade Mark Mulder back to Oakland for Dan Haren. Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm gonna keep this as realistic as possible. They just got Mulder (in 2005 terms) and I need the lefty in the rotation. Plus, Mulder was better in 2005 than Haren, who was was still a prospect/youngling. Trades will only be made near the deadline and probably no big trades, since the Cards hardly make a splash at the deal now.
wolfy6finger
Oswalt Dominates Cardinals Boxscore - Astros 4, Cardinals 0 April 5, 2005 Houston (TX) – After last years’ World Series debacle against the Boston Red Sox, the St. Louis Cardinals were hoping for good start to the 2005 season. However, the Houston Astros had other plans as they looked to get some revenge for last years’ NLCS loss to the Cardinals. The two NLCS counterparts faced off on Opening Day with the Astros defeating the Cardinals 4-0. Craig Biggio paced the Astros offense, recording three hits in four at-bats, including a two-run home run in the eighth inning that chased Chris Carpenter from the ball game. In the bottom of the third inning, Adam Everett double to deep right-center off Carpenter. After Everett moved to the third on an Oswalt sacrifice, Craig Biggio doubled in Everett for the first score of the season. In the sixth inning, Biggio looped a single over shortstop David Eckstein’s glove. Lance Berkman would double home Biggio for an Astros’ 2-0 lead. The rally momentarily stalled when Carpenter struck out Jeff Bagwell and Morgan Ensberg for the first two outs of the inning, but Jason Lane would single home Berkman as the Astros took a 3-0 lead. Carpenter, who missed the entire 2004 postseason, struggled in the game with his command as he walked three batters. Carpenter would pitch 7-1/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. Roy Oswalt was brilliant as he pitched two-hit ball over eight innings before handing the ball over to closer Brad Lidge, who completed the Houston shutout. Oswalt struck out eight Cardinal batters, while walking none. The Cardinals only two hits in game came in the first inning when Larry Walker doubled and in the eighth inning when Mark Grudzielanek doubled. Biggio goes deep against the Cardinal's Carpenter. (APW Images) St. Louis Cardinals Notables: Larry Walker (RF): 1 for 4, 2B Mark Grudzielanek (2B): 1 for 3, 2B Houston Astros Notables: Roy Oswalt (SP): (W, 1-0), 8 IP, 2 H, 8 SO Craig Biggio (2B): 3 for 4, HR (1), 2 R, 2 RBI, 2B
redsox
Looking forward to this season. And its really nice to know that you won't be making in major trades early on in the season. I really do like the idea of seeing another 2005 dynasty. Good luck bud.
wolfy6finger
Lane Provides the Power, Astros Sweep Cardinals Boxscore - Astros 7, Cardinals 3 April 6, 2005 Houston (TX) – The St. Louis Cardinals started fast, but the Houston Astros rallied for a 7-3 win last night. The Cardinals scored quickly against the Houston starter Andy Pettitte. After David Eckstein lead off the game with a double, Larry Walker plated him with a double that split the outfielders in right-center. Albert Pujols followed up with a single that moved Walker to third base and then Scott Rolen drove Walker home with his own double that split the outfielders in right-center for a 2-0 Cardinals lead. Pujols and Rolen were left stranded on third and second, respectively. Pettite did not allow another run on the day as he pitched seven strong innings, allowing four hits, walked one and struck out six batters. There was no more scoring until the bottom of the fifth, when the game started to unravel for the Cardinals and starting pitcher Matt Morris. After Morris gave up a one-out single to Adam Everett, Craig Biggio drove him in with his second double in as many games to cut the Cardinals’ lead in half. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Jason Lane hammered a Morris offering into the Crawford boxes to give the Astros a 3-2 lead that they never relinquished. After the Astros scored two more runs in the next inning for a 5-2 lead, Lane plated two more Astros in the eighth on a Jim Edmonds miscue in centerfield for a 7-2 lead. Morris struckout six, while allowing five runs in 6-1/3 innings. The Cardinals scored a meaningless run in the ninth off of Astros closer Brad Lidge. Larry Walker doubles to deep right-center in the first inning. (APW Images) St. Louis Cardinals Notables: Scott Rolen (3B): 3 for 4, 2 RBI, 2B Larry Walker (RF): 1 for 4, R, RBI, 2B Houston Astros Notables: Andy Pettitte (SP): (W, 1-0), 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 6 SO, BB Jason Lane (RF): 1 for 4, HR (1), R, 4 RBI

Kccitystar (and others) have done some tremendously unbeivable work on this year's unis. With that said, the dynasty still looks to be a good one. wolfy6finger
eek you should DL some unis! Yeah, I probably should but the last time I tried updating the Cards unis, it screwed up my dynasty/mvp game. I don't think my computer can handle some of the stuff, so I only modded a couple of things (stadium, rosters, the baseball) But what unis do you recommend, I might give it another try, if everyone thinks they are that bad in the pics. (I only care about the Cardinals/NL Central unis as I do only Cardinals dynasties) Note to everyone, when I start playing some home games, you'll see the old Busch Staduim. But I do have the Pirates new one installed (replaced a couple of the Spring Training Staduims a when it first came out) for the 2006 season. Kccitystar (and others) have done some tremendously unbeivable work on this year's unis. With that said, the dynasty still looks to be a good one. You have to remember this is a 2005 dynasty, so the '07 uniforms do nothing for this year. However, see post above. There's a reason why I don't DL everything, because my PC is kind of old and can't handle some stuff Maybe I'll try KCCitystars unis again

wolfy6finger
Thanks Those were the two that I downloaded and installed earlier today. It seems my MVP/computer is handling it this time as I've played two games against the Phillies in my dynasty (plus a couple of exhibition games with Astros and Cubs) and it hasn't crashed yet (knocking on wood). I must of did something wrong last time, but damn these look great. Thanks to Spungo and KCCitystar. Depending how it goes, I may upload all of them (NL Central was a priority since the Cardinals are in that division) Dynasty Note: Once I complete my game #3 against Phillies I'll post that series
wolfy6finger
Mulder Wins Cardinals' Debut Boxscore – Cardinals 5, Phillies 1 April 8, 2005 St. Louis (MO) – The St. Louis Cardinals, behind a strong performance from Mark Mulder, beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 for their first win of the young season. Mulder, making his St. Louis debut, kept the Phillies off-balance for most of the game allowing one run on six hits in seven innings for the Cardinals. He struck out six and walked two in the outing. Down 1-0, the Cardinals scored four times in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs and Larry Walker standing on first base, Jim Edmonds deposited a 2-2 Padilla fastball into the right field stands for a 2-1 lead. However, that wasn’t the end of the scoring in the fourth, as Mark Grudzielanek tripled home Scott Rolen and Reggie Sanders, who each had singled to extend the inning. Grudzielanek added an RBI single in the sixth inning for the 5-1 lead. He finished the day two for three with three runs batted in. Philadelphia’s only run came in the top of the fourth, when Todd Pratt singled home David Bell. Mark Grudzielanek triples to right-center in the bottom of the fourth inning. wolfy6finger
Pujols Belts Two Out, But Phillies Rally For Win Boxscore – Phillies 10, Cardinals 6 April 9, 2005 St. Louis (MO) – The Philadelphia Phillies scored six times in an eighth inning rally to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-7 on Saturday afternoon. Heading into the eighth inning, down 6-4, the Phillies attacked the Cardinals bullpen. After Ray King got Bobby Abreu to fly out to start the inning, Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa went to Julian Tavarez to get the next two outs in the inning, but Tavares struggled. After Tavares allowed a one-out double to Placido Polanco, he was able to get Chase Utley to ground out to second base. With two outs and a runner on third base, Tavares seemed to be in control of the game. However, after walking Todd Pratt and allowing an RBI single to pinch-hitter, Jason Michaels, LaRussa quickly made a double-switch to bring in his closer, Jason Isringhausen, to protect the 6-5 lead. Isringhausen, who was making his first appearance of the year, quickly loaded the bases by walking Kenny Lofton. Jimmy Rollins then made it a 7-6 Philadelphia lead with a two-out, two RBI single that plated Todd Pratt and Jason Michaels. On Isringhausen’s very next pitch, Jim Thome jacked a three-run homer for a 10-6 lead. Rollins finished the day two for four with three runs scored, three runs batted in and two stolen bases, while Thome finished four for five with five runs batted in, which included the three-run homerun off Isringhausen. Despite the Cardinals bullpen struggles, the Cardinal offense finally showed some life from Albert Pujols. Pujols hit towering two-run homerun off of Phillies starter Amaury Telemaco in the bottom of the first inning and then a solo shot off of reliever Aaron Fultz in the bottom of the eighth inning. Terry Adams got the win, despite allowing a solo homerun to Reggie Sanders. Scott Rolen also had a solo home run in the game. Cardinals starter Jeff Suppan allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings, but did not factor into the decision as Tavares took the loss after allowing three runs in just a 1/3 of an inning. Scott Rolen sends an Amaury Telemaco pitch into the stands. wolfy6finger
Carpenter Delivers for Cards Boxscore – Cardinals 6, Phillies 1 April 10, 2005 St. Louis (MO) – One day after the bullpen blew a game, St. Louis Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter delivered seven strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits in Cardinals 6-1 victory. Carpenter was spotless in every inning he pitched, but the top of fourth. He gave up four straight singles, including Jim Thome’s RBI hit, with no outs, but was able to retire Bobby Abreu on a fly out to left field and coaxed former Cardinal player, Placido Polanco, to hit into an inning-ending double play. Carpenter added six strikeouts to his dominating performance. Down 1-0 entering the bottom seventh, John Rodriguez, making the start in place of Reggie Sanders, homered with one on and two outs off Phillies starter Jon Lieber for a 2-1 lead. That was Lieber’s only blemish as he pitched seven strong innings of three hit ball, but walked four batters. Cardinals added four insurance runs in the eighth when Jim Edmonds hit a three-run homerun off Tim Worrell and Scott Rolen smacked a solo shot off Ryan Madson. Carpenter strikes out Phillies' Abreu in the second inning.
