ESPN The worldwide leader in sports?? Yeah right!

I had to post this and get others take. With me being a Braves fan I found it frustrating or irritating (not sure proper adjective) that I spent the morning following ESPNews to see any new developments in the Teixeira sweepstakes since the Braves have been rumored to be the frontrunners, and foxsports ended up being the source to confirm that the deal is all but done except for the physicals.

I don't know about most of you, but when ESPN has all these so-called baseball and other sports experts and insiders who constantly have their pulse on the sport and teams and foxsports ends up breaking the news, it's a little suprising. I just get sick of ESPN and their monoploy on the cable/sat. markets. At least always break the news first in these types of situations. I know you can't always. But with something like a big trade like this or during the trade deadline countdown, you would think they would be all over it. Just my opinion and venting.

Hot Stove League rules still stand: The player hasn't been traded until the papers are signed, or if the player is at a press conference with a new jersey. The last I heard is that the deal was finalized yesterday, but the commish's office had issues with the cash considerations.

There are plenty of reasons to dump on the WWL, but making sure they have their facts straight is probably a good thing.

No I'm just kidding. I think ESPN is really on the decline and I like baseball tonight I just wish they had better analysts.

On a side note, it's kinda sad how they kinda kicked Dan Patrick to the curb and replaced him with crap. The fact that "Who's Now" was seen as a good idea by network execs scares me for the future.

If only I had dish and could watch TSN........

"The Score" a Canadian sports network is by far, the best resource for sporting news than any other channel I've seen. Beats out ESPN, TSN, Fox Sports, and Rogers Sportsnet.

I've never heard of it. I'm familiar with Rogers Sportsnet, but not their programming. I have Tsn.ca as my home page, cause their site is pretty good when it comes to actually reporting stories and offering insight into sports, but yea they have Pierre McGuire to, so it's obviously not the best.

Got my first dose of TSN over the weekend while eating dinner in BC and fell in love with the network. It was ESPNized but clean and it had CFL football coverage. I love me some CFL. It helped that I was drinking a Kootenay and a Kokanee draft beer and the finest plate of Salmon in the world.

You heard it folks, when drinking, the CFL becomes watchable!

To me, ESPN has earned the right to annoint themselves as the worldwide leader in sports due to their extensive 10 second, ESPN-Deportes-promo-disguised-as-highlights coverage of the WORLD'S most popular sport, football.

Who's Now is a total joke. You don't need a damn NCAA style tournament to decide which athlete has the biggest presence in America (but I think it's cute that they included somebody like Ronaldinho/Beckham to make it seem like they considered somebody outside of the US). It's Tiger Woods and LeBron James, Woods being favored by corporate America and LeBron by the youth. At least in a real sporting event, the underdog would have a chance. What sportswriter is going to say "Lebron vs Kelly Slater, this is a potential trap game for Lebron, I say Slater advances in a huge upset..."??? Anybody could whisk through their little bracket and come out with the same picks in about 15 seconds.
