redundant players in 1978 TC mod

Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to MVP 2005. I have installed the TC 1978 mod and I have been enjoying it and the game over the past few days playing my Reds in dynasty mode :) Then I noticed while checking around the league transactions that a team signed Joe Morgan. I now realize that all of the players are represented in the game twice!

Question 1: how can I fix this?

Question 2: how can I get rid of the 2005 people and just have only classic players from 78 because some CPU teams are cheating and signing people like A-Rod lol.

Question 3: Can any of this be fixed without starting my dynasty over? I'm playing the full schedule/9 innings and I'm about 4 weeks into it. I'd hate to start all over :(

thank you in advance

Something isn't quite right with your setup, because A-Rod is not in the 1978 rosters (I just checked to be sure). There is no way that a team should have been able to sign him!

To keep teams from signing players, turn off CPU initiated trades and turn off injuries so that minor leaguers (who were not modified) cannot be brought up.

I'm not sure if the dynasty can be fixed at this point (unless you move players around yourself). Hopefully someone else can provide an answer.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the reply. I found buried in one of the threads this problem, although I searched guess I never hit the right keywords. Nonetheless I restarted a new dynasty with cpu initiated trades off. I'm not sure what I did before but I had all of the regular players in the game with the 78 classics and the CPU was signing them.

I did install the MVP Editor and manually went through and released all the new players signed to try and salvage my dynasty but after doing that I was about to play the Dodgers and Foster from the Reds was renamed to "R" and was playing 2B for them. But when I used the editor to swap teams he was no where on the roster nor was "R". So when I tried to play the game it just crashed to desktop. No big deal I can start fresh :)

thanks though. Maybe this will help out another newbie to turn off CPU initiated trades at the beginning of your dynasty!

Another aspect you want to look out for is the "use unlockable players" feature. The heroes and legends team players will be available for signing if you have the option set to "yes" when you begin your dynasty.

Yup in my new dynasty that is turned off.

BTW I love this mod. I bought this game specifically to use this mod when I heard it was out. This brings back good childhood memories!

Looking forward to seeing updates.
