Pre-loading vs. "late" loading

i know this is in the wrong section ( i think -__-) but since you pc guys uses controllers for mvp, i thought i do a survey on you guys too...

well, first of all...i wanna point out the three different styles of hitting we all use..

1> preloading: which is jerking the analog stick in a predetermined direction before the pitch comes

2> "neutral": which is basically hands off the analog stick > which usually means balls hit up the middle more and really ...nothing else -__-

3 > "late" loading:...my fave...left thumb would hover above left analog and would jerk in a direction depending on the pitch that you get...right AFTER the i see the pitch leaves the pitcher's hand

well, in my beginner days of mvp 05, preloading was a no brainer and gameplay would be hectic...it wouldn't be a strange sight for me to have a 20 hit game...cranking up the difficulty level doesn't help either

then, i changed to "late" loading...and i had to go back to pro...and with the slider that i'm currently plaing with...this is the happiest i've been in my baseball gaming career....0-O

so anyhoo, back to "late" loading...i think that it offers me much more difficulty than before and now i can get balls in those opposite field corners that i couldn't do with pre-loading (w/ late, you are a little late on the ball, thus balls go in gaps, while pre, you tend to be early > which translates to balls being hit down the lines....)

well.....i just wanted to get a perspective on who plays with which style and feel free to share your experience with each style...

SO SORRY for this to be so long...

I use alll three... early in a count if its even or close i use "late loading" and try to go with a pitch..... if i fall behind in a count i usually just try and make contact and go with a nuetral swing and if i have a favourable count 2-0, 2-0 i willl preload see what happens

I normally "think" preload--that is, prepare for a ball in a certain area, and adjust the controller in that area. So if I look middle-in, and get a ball in, I have a good chance of getting contact (not necessarily home runs), but if I get a ball outside, my contact is much worse because I am not prepared for it.

well, personally...i think late loading gives gamers a more realistic gaming experience...like hitters in real life, we are forced to make a decision right on the spot, and our decision ( pull, or oppo) can affect the outcome of the at - bat.

They all have their use. Hitters in real life "Pre-Load" all the time. They are always looking for a certain pitch or location or both. Generally it is done when the count is favorable for the batter.

This is how I do it:

0-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 2-0: Depending on the hitter, I will pre-load power pull (up and right or up and left). Others, I will pre-load flyball (up), and will push right or left depending on pitch location.

0-1: With my really good hitters, I still pre-load power pull, but am looking for a specific location (Inside, mostly high). With everyone else, I do the pre-load flyball.

0-2, 1-2: Mostly neutral, good hitters pre-load flyball and push left or right

1-0: Stay with pre-load power pull

3-0: Take. I almost always take. I will pre-load power pull with every hitter, but unless I get the specific location I want (up and in), I take it.

I realized that I rarely, if-ever push down or pre-load down.

I do that too, but I've noticed that a pitcher has certain tendacies, so when I'm hitting I sometimes go with the late variety if I recognize the pitch early enough. Like trying to pull an off speed pitch with Ryan Howard, but realizing it's a fastball up and away and just going with it and hitting an opposite field HR.

What I like to do is try to guess where the pitcher might throw it and aim for that spot, and then switch if I get a better read on it. Really what the real major leaguers do. I'm right about a third of the time on my guesses.
